  • One would have been plenty it turned out. Seems they have enough balls you wouldn't have to wait for power to be dumped into the cranking battery, just hook up and they'd give the starter motor plenty of current.

    Just to get that right: Your car battery was totally empty, right? So it should drain alot from the both (small) Makitas, even they were two and with 18 volts. And then, roughly five minutes later, so suck the whole starter from it too?
    For my understanding the board battery should drain the makitas with high current and the makitas should went very hot. And then came the starter motor...? I'm totally surprised... :o
    My second thought was: If the cars battery fell dry, so it wouldn't drain the makitas at all, then the current provided by both makitas pushing the starter motor alone. Still what a surprise! But sounds a little bit more plausible. You lucky one, that's not a diesel engine... :D

    Why would you have lost a years worth of life from the battery? As long as you recharge it within a reasonable time frame it's actually good for the battery to be drained.
