Had one. Swapped it for a Fender Rhodes Suitcase 73 MkII in '02. Thems was the days.

The machine was processed with the following:
1176 style mono compressors on the Kick and Snare.
Wave Alchemy Glow (AMS RMX 16) and Wave Alchemy Pulse (Lexicon PCM60) on two send channels.
Generic tape delay on a third send channel.
    All the EQ.

Maaaaan. I wish there were clones of this machine, preferably the DMX. We've got enough 808 clones, time for a DMX clone. Paging Behringer!

@@AtlantisLion Behringer have two drum machines in development called the BMX and LmDrum.
Sadly, if the LmDrum is anything to go by, they're nothing to get excited over. The LmDrum only *looks* like a LinnDrum but is a completely different machine (it's basically a digitakt clone). So, no clones on the horizon as of yet.
The internal architecture of the DX is so simple that anyone with access to a PCB design application could probably make one pretty easily, honestly.

@@benanderson89 I'm still super excited about the LmDrum, especially after I head it was also a sampler. As long as it sounds like the original Tears For Fears unit they referenced the clone from, I will be extremely happy.
And yeah, a lot of people play with the EPROM burning and all that but that's totally over my head.

@@AtlantisLion more like it's a sampler that just looks like a LinnDrum. It'll be interesting to see what it actually is and what it does though. Shots of the voice board already online make me think it's going to be along the same lines as an E-MU SP12 or 1200.

@@benanderson89 ohhh, that's interesting! I just hope it sounds as identical to the original as possible. I'm a DAWless type of guy, so I don't really have many means to fiddle with sample packs and all that. :3

whats the difference between this and the dmx

    • @benanderson89
      @benanderson89  2 месяца назад +3

Fewer sounds (no ride, rim shot or tambourine). Three tom-pads instead of six. Numeric display instead of Alphanumeric. That's about it.

@@benanderson89 Thanks! I have to use wav samples as I don’t have hardware, but from the sounds both of them produce, I prefer the dx!

@@RDJR400 Keep in mind I heavily processed this, so it's covered in reverb, delay and compression.

@@benanderson89 oh im aware dont worry! sounds absolutely amazing! im currently trying to remake in the night extended mix by pet shop boys, and i was under the impression for a long ime that the hats were dx, but they are actually rx11, along wwith many other sounds!
