David OC Just found your channel. I grew up taking naps under the glovebox of my parents ski nautique and mastercraft in the early 80s back in the day when they professionally salomed and barefooted. I got into wakeboarding in my late teens. I bought a new board this year and so much has changed. Thank you for your channel! It has helped me get back in the groove (I'm 36.) Please keep doing what you do, you never know who you'll help! Thanks from Fort Worth, Texas!
Hey Dave, I’m all the way from sunny South Africa, what price do you think your pro model will retail here for? I’m quite keen to get my hands on one👌 who would I have to contact to get one this side...?
I found boat /hybrid boards were much cheaper to buy / always on offer. I rode one to learn on cable (with centre fins removed) and found it helped to get edge control when starting. As soon as I progressed to boxes and kickers, found it 'grabby' and stiff. Now have an SOB and the flat base and springier flex make it a lot more fun and smooth
Loved the video...I have a weird question and I hope you see it and answer it. Here goes.... is it easier to Ollie with a flat cable board or a board with channels ? I'm pretty new to wake boarding and my Ollies are weak.....so....please help me pick a new board.
I've definitely ridden my boat board behind the cable and it wasn't awful. You should revisit the cable board behind the boat but with fins. I tried it with out fins and kept slipping out on landing.
Hey, I want to learn more tricks for boat riding.. What is better, trampoline or cable? Could I learn Inverts in the cable park with my boat board or better a cable board? Cheers Alex
Hi, I would like a bit of advice. I'm a park rider who enjoys rails. I've been researching a lot but don't find much info. I came across the dipstick, hashtag, ripsaw. I liked those but honestly I don't know what to get. I would like it to be flexi for rails as well. Hope you can guide me a bit better. Thanks a lot
The thing I see most often from guys who’ve only ridden boat, is a tendency to sit back on their heels a lot... this will make setting up for features harder, but mostly it will make you really tired and give you sore hands and forearms. My advice is always to try and ride your board flatter and don’t pull back against the cable.
offroadfreak8582 all good bro, I spend my summer teaching wakeboarding at a park, I get to see all the bad habits people have, so I’m always stoked to do what I can to make their experience more enjoyable. Boat and Park are very different disciplines, and both have pros and cons... any chance to ride us a chance to get stoked though, so being able to do both makes for more fun in your life. Enjoy your cable experience 🤙
The most common damage I see happening to boat boards is the rails blow out due to the construction techniques of most boat style boards, and their rigidity, the sandwiched top and bottom layers of the board delaminate and separate with repeated hits (especially on kickers with a big radius on the launch) Another thing you may find at some parks, is they just won’t let you ride your boat board on the features, as the moulded fins and harder rails can cause damage to the surface of the features.... we’ve had a couple of gouges put into kickers this way, which can create a risk to other riders. As far as riding technique goes, the most common issue I see with boat riders (and kiteboarders) is a tendency to ride on their heels, being used to pulling back against the boat (or kite) this causes fatigue, muscle and joint pain in the forearms and hands, and just makes your ride way less enjoyable. I always suggest trying to ride your board more like a snowboard, in a flatter position, this allows you to load up when you need the extra boost, but saves your arms between tricks. I ride boat and cable, and work as a cable operator over summer...( Take a look at D.O.C’s ‘Biggest Rally’ video to see our park).. I’m by no means a great rider, so I’ve chosen a hybrid board (Liquid Force Henshaw Hybrid Deluxe) which I ride without the fins for both, it has a cintered base and PU rails to take the impact of the park, flexible tips for riding features, but is rigid enough through the centre to absorb Wake to Wake landings, and the extra pressure of being towed behind the boat. The O’Brien S.O.B is very similar in design and is a great option if you want just one board for boat and cable.
Also our cable has a maximum speed of 45km/h so we can get you riding at ‘boat speeds’ like we did for D.O’C when he came and had a play. If you ever get a chance to come play with us 7.2 on the dial is O’Caoimh speed 😜🤙
This is the vid that sold me.....so I got my board for a 100$ 07-Trip no fins took them out!! Is there a wax you can put on ya board to help slide? I feel a boggie on top of the kicker I been hitting .
So, I guess I have been away from Wakeboarding for awhile. There was no such thing as a separate "boat" and "cable/park" board...just wakeboard. Of course cable parks were just starting to pick up when I stopped riding. Started in '96 and stopped around '05. Now as a 35-year old, I am getting the itch to ride again. I no longer have access to a boat, but there is a cable park about 2-hrs from me that I would like to try out, if all the little whipper snappers wouldn't mind an old guy getting back into it. I should brush the dust off my '00 and '03 Belmont boards and see how it goes, lol.
What I found with my ronix district. The 3 stage rocker had flutes on the sides. I got hung up on the rails a few times with them. Not to forget that some boat boards have removable fins as well enable the cheating method! But totally agree with landing, locked in for sure
Nice informative vid dude. Are you putting your old board (signed) up for auction? That would make a tidy sum for a charity/good cause... Just a suggestion ;0) Keep shredding cool dude and yeah! You do look like Peter Parker (my favourite Marvel character, by the way), ha, ha.
Had to watch the vid at 0.25 speed to wrap my head around how you can just go from flat to freaking flying on those airtricks. Unbelivable stuff, I still don't get it lol
Hope you guys enjoy the video. My Pro Model Wakeboard Video will be out Wednesday! And you'll be able to put your name down for it then too :) :)
When did you start wake-boarding?
when I was 10 :)

Visisting a cable park next week for the first time (as a boat rider). Thanks for the tips🤣
hhah good luck and enjoy it

Danny R thanks for that! I indeed tend to lean backward. I will also rent a board. I don’t want to damage my pretty much new boat board.

David you should try the wake park here in Camsur WaterSports Complex Bicol, Philippines.
yeah I take my boat board to cable a lot and it tears it up. Its flatter than most boat boards but its really not made for it. good video!
yeah it you do it excessively it's just not worth it :)
What do you think about hybrid boards ?
You rock bro!!
Helped me a lot, thank you brother !! 🤟🏼
I'm thinking about riding my cable board after a small boat. Any advice?
Would the board get damaged after like 2 hours?
What I found with my ronix district. The 3 stage rocker had flutes on the sides. I got hung up on the rails a few times with them. Not to forget that some boat boards have removable fins as well enable the cheating method! But totally agree with landing, locked in for sure
yeah it's mad isn't it!! haha thanks for the extra input bro. People always like more than one opinion/ experience :)
Quality vids mate!!!! Great job!!! 😊
You're a goof, can't wait to get my hands on the new pro model.
Jon the Potter would love to wake board with you in Minnesota!

Congrats on the tweety bird :D
There are boarded for both cable and boat
I'm a park rider and I'm trying it behind a boat tomorrow haha
David OC, You and Jon the Potter need to meet up in MN and make a cool video! Promise, it would be a blast!

Try a kiteboard
Nearest cable is over 2 hours so I settle with just using my boat board the one time I've gone. Didn't seem to hold me back any.
