  • As a Christmas 2019 special we brought together some footballing legends from Dún Laoghaire to give us their fantasy eleven side of players from the borough over the years. This is the team Richie McIntyre, George Forsyth, Peter O'Brien and Sean Sheehy came up with. What do you think?

Great insight into local football heritage.

Really enjoyed that, brought back great memories of schoolboy football in the Borough. Remember seeing Sean playing for Preston North End in Deepdale and after the game Sean invited me into the Players lounge where I met Alan Kelly, who was Assistant Manager at the time.Being a Preston fan that was a great moment for me.So thanks again Sean and good to see Richie looking so well. Well done Lads,

We learned our football on the streets. As the fellas here were saying, you played for hours. Every day.. the problem now is the kids train for an hour twice a week. And it shows. The football played today in the Leinster Senior league is terrible bad. Absolute atrocious if I'm been honest. And it's all got to do with football not been played on the streets anymore.
PS I can't believe Paul McGrath didn't get into the "Dun Laoghaire Fantasy team". Didn't even get a mention. 😁😁😁

It’s true. I’m 46 and we played for hours till we got stitches from the smog and we took a breath and kept on playing.
