Will there be a matching subwoofer?
    These look awesome!

I think it's doubtful you'll ever see a subwoofer for this speaker. I heard a pair of Hyphns at length while there and can tell you it has some of the deepest and most-powerful bass that I've heard from any passive speaker. It definitely hits to 20Hz in-room.

Tekton are not the first to have done this. MacIntosh did it years ago, and so have a few other manufacturers, so it's hard to believe that a patent on this tweeter/midrange layout actually exists. Besides, the tweeter/midrange drivers being used are also totally different to Tekton.
Even though, architecturally, these speakers look amazing, it will be interesting as to whether the design has a tendency to introduce diffraction and/or other artifacts to the sound/frequency response. I must also question the problem of time alignment as well, especially from the midrange area to the bass. Still, they look great, or at least, very different from current speaker designs, and I could understand why people would buy them for this aspect, alone - hopefully, they will sound fabulous from a sonic view point, as well!.

Macintosh line array is completely different and old school basics compared to this. Not even in the same arena.

Tekton Design is aware of what appears to be a copy of their patented tweeter array by Monitor Audio. It will be interesting to see what comes of it. People have ridiculed Tekton Design over the array but apparently it’s good enough for a high-end company like MA to want to copy it.

Mcintosh used this design well before Tekton did.

@@davobmw but did they ever patent their design? Tekton was able to patent their design so either Mac never did or there were significant enough differences for Tekton to not infringe on the Mac design.

@@chuckmerrill4997 McIntosh is using the Bessel array. My guess MA is also using the Bessel array. Bessel array is patented

@@chuckmerrill4997 was also filed by Mcintosh in 1993 awarded in 1998. Well before Tekton

You do realise it's not a tweeter array.....those drivers are mid range drivers with the tweeter located in the centre. It's a different concept altogether. Next we'll be saying you can't put bass drivers in line with mid range drivers because others have done it. Acoustics have boundaries and what you can do within those does pose some limits due to physics.

After all the work you have done, use better resistors, I have heard the difference in my designs. I guess you saw the Tekton speakers, 😅

No its not exact but reminds of the TARS robot from Interstellar.
Now as a company Monitor Audio... there are pricing themselves out of territory. 7 grand for a set of book-shelve speakers.
This thing must be around 100k

    What's with the Tekton fanbois?
You don't go around berating 2 way speakers for "copying" whoever came up with a woofer and a tweeter arrangement.
Tekton uses off the shelf _tweeters_ arranged in a circle, and crossed over like midrange. They use the same tweeter as the middle tweeter.
Monitor audio uses their own dedicated midrange driver on a circular ring, and their own dedicated tweeter as the middle driver.
You can't patent putting drivers in a circlular arrangement.

It looks like a giant clothes pin but I doubt the young ones will know what that is. Its different than what tekton does.

    • @dougschneider8243

I've seen people call it a clothes pin -- that never dawned on me until it was first said. However, I'm glad that Monitor Audio went with a radical shape for this -- otherwise, it would be another typical box-type speaker.

  • @brianmcnamara1431
    @brianmcnamara1431 Год назад +2

Wow! Monitor Audio should fire those “no boundary” and claimed “different” engineers from ripping off the mid/tweeter array from Tekton speakers. They call themselves original but they copied a design from another speaker manufacturer in the states.

Have they paid patent money to Tekton?
And why do they use iron core inductors? They are inferior and should only be used in cheap speakers, if at all.
