There ought to be a 'sequel' to the What Is A Woman "documentary" asking what men are, and just offering some absurd answers. "Is a man... three dogs in a trench coat? How about this can of chicken soup... Is it a man? If we are what we eat, and I am a man, have I been eating man this whole time?" It'd be way more engaging.
Makes me think of when Plato defined a man as a "featherless biped" and Diogenes responded by plucking a chicken, bringing it into Plato's lecture, and yelling "behold, a man!"
hey heads up if anyone throws those bible verses at you, here's some rebounds, mostly from a religious standpoint cause that's what they will be arguing from but also including some science: - "Genesis also says that God made morning and evening. Are morning and evening strictly binary? Is there nothing inbetween? Can you define 'morning'? How about the binary of darkness and light?" - "So if we're born the gender we are, what are intersex people?" [when they inevitably say there's just "so few of them"] "There are more intersex people than there are redheads. 1.7% of the population are Intersex, while roughly 1.5% are redheads. Does that mean that redheads do not 'count' when discussing hair color?" - [to "God doesn't make mistakes"] "Yes, of course. They just do impossible things. After all, if God could put a baby into a virgin, or could bring life to the dead, why could they not put a boy's soul into a girl's body, or vice versa?" Feel free to also say "God literally made such a mistake with all humanity he flooded the planet." - This line is from a Jewish source, "Something That May Shock and Discredit You" by Daniel Mallory Ortberg: "As my friend Julian puts it, only half winkingly: 'God blessed me by making me transsexual for the same reason God made wheat but not bread and fruit but not wine, so that humanity might share in the act of creation.'" - If he's using the Deuteronomy verse (22:5, about not crossdressing or w/e), know that line is mistranslated. Quoting hoperemainsonline.com/index.php/transgender/, "A more literal translation from Hebrew reads 'The weapon of a warrior shall not be on a woman, nor shall a warrior put on the robe of a woman, for all who do these things are a hateful thing to the LORD thy God.' The word “robe” is translated from the Hebrew word simlah, which was a garment worn by both sexes. Clearly, this cannot be referring to cross-dressing. What could it be referring to then? A much more likely answer to that question is that it is about ritual purity and the mixing of blood. Both warrior’s swords and women’s garments would get blood on them, one from battle and the other from menstruation. To have a man wear the robe of a woman, or vice versa, would mix blood, which was considered an abomination under the law." - This last one is long, but it talks about how all humans, including women, were created in God's image; therefore, God is both male and female. If it's wrong for humans to be, why is God enby themself? To quote "The Africana Bible" by Hugh R Page Jr, "The term occasionally translated as 'human beings' in the NRSV and generall as "man" in most other English versions is 'adam or ha'adam. Now this is clearly not a personal name (that is, Adam) as the KJV ill-advisedly begins to indicate at about Gen. 2:19. A better translation of this term, however, would be “the earthling” since the term is derived from the term ‘adamah, meaning “land” or “earth.” Such a translation clarifies better than “man” or even “human being” that the original intent of the author is to emphasize that God made “earthlings” as a whole, NOT JUST MALES, in God’s image [...] Such a translation takes into consideration that the term ‘adam is meant to function as a collective term referring to both the male and the female. Thus, we should note that ‘adam here is not a name or an ascription of gender but a collective term for “earthlings” in general; this is emphasized by the author’s choice of the plural pronoun ‘otham, and the use of the plural verbs veyirddu and urdu, meaning in 1:26 and 1:28, 'let THEM have dominion,' further reiterates the inclusive nature of the term ‘adam. [...] In Genesis 1 and 2, both genders were created with equal expressions of God’s image, equal authority over the earth, and equal value as human beings."
This is not me trying to argue but please get your facts straight about one thing. While yes the top google source says 1.7 for intersex, this source is faulty and the actual number is seen to be about 0.018%
A woman is a person. Some people are women. Some people are not women. Womanhood is experienced differently by every woman. The end. Sincerely, a woman

@@spikemurphy5054 It's because what is a woman can't be defined. Different cultures have different definitions of what a woman or what a man is. For example, in many indigenous cultures, gender is defined as spirits, and many of these cultures have at least four genders. Gender is a social construct, it has different definitions for different people. The rigid, sex-based, gender classification happened due to colonialism. just wanted to say, when people ask what is a woman, they're looking for "someone of the female sex". Which ok. sure. The female sex does exist. There are differences between the male and female sex biologically. HOWEVER, socially, Americans identify a woman based on a MULTITUDE of things. Human beings are the one's who CREATED THE TERM MAN AND WOMAN. We identify men/women based on specific personality traits, mannerisms, clothing and makeup. You cannot possibly have a TRUE answer about what is a woman because, gender is expressed differently across so many cultures. Your personal opinion on what a woman should be does not match the rest of the population fo the world. It is subjective and bound to change throughout generations and cultures. This is also why no one should be making such a big deal out of the discussion. - from someone who studies anthropology

Honestly, as a trans man who loves fortnite, and also religious mythology, thank you so much for this one. A lot of cis people legitimately don’t understand that in coming out as our true selves we literally risk losing everything as trans people, including our lives. We ourself were disowned through a text when we finally attempted to talk to our dad about how much he messed us up growing up, and how we literally believed that we would die, and be abandoned if we stopped hiding ourself from him. He was a performative ‘ally’, and a narcissist, unfortunately he still has our other siblings. We were right in our fears, that us did die as soon as we came out, and we were abandoned the very moment our identity brushed up against his sense of entitlement. Thank you for being a decent human being who has a heart, and understands that we are also human beings despite our differences in how we experience gender, and our developmental differences. We find it kind of tragic and morbidly funny when people try and use genesis to cover their transphobia and or sexism, our favorite rendition of that story is the version not included in the orthodox translations, it is the version with Adam and Eve, and Lilith and Samiel. If god created both man and woman in his image, and we do believe in god, although we are far from Christian as the true church of Christ has not existed in nearly 2000 years, but if god made the first human symbols in his image that actually means that man and woman and everything in between and every lack there of, exist within god too, because all humans, come from gods image by that interpretation. Adam and Eve were symbols for the devine masculine and feminine, human versions of Binah and Chochmah, and Lilith and Samiel were the Qlippoth versions. All four symbols were equally part of god, despite their differences. We also enjoy the version of the story of cain and able where Cain was actually Samiels son and a half angel. People forget that there have always been and will always be many many different versions, and also interpretations of these stories, and In making them no more than ‘rules to live by’ we lose so much of what these stories could potentially teach us.. For anyone wondering: a modern, trans-inclusive definition of a woman is "an adult human who identifies on the opposite end of the gender spectrum from a man." If your response is "define men" then it's the same definition with woman switched out. If you argue that that doesn't really define either one, there are a lot of binaries and spectrums that have their endpoints defined by their opposites, such as light and dark.
but i disagree that man and woman are the two ends of the spectrum, they are not in direct opposition with each other. plus that would place enbies as "part man part woman", when many of us are completely outside the spectrum as defined
@@mothboy420 if an enby person identifies outside of the spectrum, great! They exist outside of the spectrum. It's obviously not a perfect definition, but when you're speaking to someone whose current understanding of gender is so simplistic, it's very helpful.
@@moonorchid502 Damn, that's a lot. Well, I'm a college junior majoring in biology, so I (and basically every expert from the last 20 years) can tell you that sex and gender are different. Look, you're young. I'm assuming that you've been raised in a conservative household and are regurgitating what your parents taught you. Keep an open mind, and one day, you'll come back to this comment and cringe.
@@moonorchid502 the word woman cannot be defined in biological terms because it's not a biological concept. It's sort of like asking to define parking lot in biological terms. Woman is an anthropological, sociological, and psychological concept (and probably other fields too), and it has different definitions in all of those fields. Because of that, you have to ask a person who's an expert in one of those fields what they believe a woman to be. For me, I have bigger problems than what someone else chooses to identify as. I simply don't give a shit. The biological concepts are female, male, and intersex. Even those can be kind of rough, and the definitions change wildly depending on organism. As a rule, the male has something analogous to sperm, and the female has something analogous to eggs, but that's about as far as those definitions go. In humans, female and male are pretty easy to define, and intersex is anyone who doesn't fit neatly into one of those categories. Basically, it all comes down to the difference between sex and gender. Essentially, sex is a biological concept (female, male) and gender is a sociological, anthropological, and psychological concept (woman, man). If it's not something you've explored before, it's really hard to wrap your head around, and I totally get that. If you look it up on the internet, there are other people who can explain it far better than I'm able to.

@@hex0578 wait did that actually happen lmao
hey heads up if anyone throws those bible verses at you, here's some rebounds, mostly from a religious standpoint cause that's what they will be arguing from but also including some science:
- "Genesis also says that God made morning and evening. Are morning and evening strictly binary? Is there nothing inbetween? Can you define 'morning'? How about the binary of darkness and light?"
- "So if we're born the gender we are, what are intersex people?" [when they inevitably say there's just "so few of them"] "There are more intersex people than there are redheads. 1.7% of the population are Intersex, while roughly 1.5% are redheads. Does that mean that redheads do not 'count' when discussing hair color?"
- [to "God doesn't make mistakes"] "Yes, of course. They just do impossible things. After all, if God could put a baby into a virgin, or could bring life to the dead, why could they not put a boy's soul into a girl's body, or vice versa?" Feel free to also say "God literally made such a mistake with all humanity he flooded the planet."
- This line is from a Jewish source, "Something That May Shock and Discredit You" by Daniel Mallory Ortberg: "As my friend Julian puts it, only half winkingly: 'God blessed me by making me transsexual for the same reason God made wheat but not bread and fruit but not wine, so that humanity might share in the act of creation.'"
- If he's using the Deuteronomy verse (22:5, about not crossdressing or w/e), know that line is mistranslated. To have a man wear the robe of a woman, or vice versa, would mix blood, which was considered an abomination under the law."
- This last one is long, but it talks about how all humans, including women, were created in God's image; therefore, God is both male and female.
2:19. A better translation of this term, however, would be “the earthling” since the term is derived from the term ‘adamah, meaning “land” or “earth.” Such a translation clarifies better than “man” or even “human being” that the original intent of the author is to emphasize that God made “earthlings” as a whole, NOT JUST MALES, in God’s image
[...] Such a translation takes into consideration that the term ‘adam is meant to function as a collective term referring to both the male and the female. [...] In Genesis 1 and 2, both genders were created with equal expressions of God’s image, equal authority over the earth, and equal value as human beings."
this should be pinned tbh
Tysm I wish I could copy paste this on mobile to use
This is not me trying to argue but please get your facts straight about one thing. While yes the top google source says 1.7 for intersex, this source is faulty and the actual number is seen to be about 0.018%
wow, i love that share the act of creation, I may be an atheist but that's pretty sweet

People forget that there have always been and will always be many many different versions, and also interpretations of these stories, and In making them no more than ‘rules to live by’ we lose so much of what these stories could potentially teach us..

bro the entire "documentary" on 'what is a woman?' is just sealioning but they made a movie about it. A woman is someone who genuinely identifies as one. You can find anyway to poke holes in a definition of any kind and this is so obviously a bad faith question.
WOOOOOO to you recording a comedy special that’s such a HUGE thing. Been watching you since high school now I’m about to be a senior in college and you’ll always be the ultimate best mayor🥲🤧
For anyone wondering: a modern, trans-inclusive definition of a woman is "an adult human who identifies on the opposite end of the gender spectrum from a man."
If your response is "define men" then it's the same definition with woman switched out.
@@moonorchid502 How much biology education do you have?

@@CrackmiserGaming You know that deltarune has lgbtq characters right
@@MagicalMeowXD yes? and?
@@CrackmiserGamingWhat truth? Literally nothing was said that made any sense.
It was poorly made lol
i love how curtis tried to move his cord just for it to immediately go back 10:25
I honestly would love to get in to a fortnite loby with him and prove to him that trans people existed before the common era which means be CENTURIES before the bible existed with many early middle eastern, southeast Asian, and even Native American civilizations, I think it would be hilarious to see his reaction.
I love the intentions, but I find it hard to believe any amount of facts could change that fat lizzard's mind :(
Probably just straight up say it isn't true. I feel like it would be akin to talking to a brick wall tbh.
kurtis i love hearing you talk about your life at the beginning of every episode it makes it feel like a facetime
The RUclips algorithm is algorithming because I literally just re-watched the original Dr. Witnesser video the other day and BOOM an update on him
38:20 he says "i dont even know its too much for me" which is pretty relatable because most people dont just. stay up at night fuming about dylan mulvaney
I am so sorry to hear about your dad, Kurtis. Sending love to you and your family. 💜
Thank you so much for just being such a genuine and kind person, Kurtis. Watching you support people like me when you’re not in our community yourself fills me with such hope and emotion. My dad just tried to debate me on what is a woman and the conversation really hurt me. I’m not safe to come out and since I’m living in Florida it looks like I won’t be coming out any time soon. Sorry, I didn’t mean for this post to be such a downer but you made me very happy just taking up for us. Thank you so much! I’m proud to be a citizen of Kurtistown.
Kudos to the kid that is trying to think hard about this when he's being badgered by a grown ass man online when he's already playing a game
A game that already takes a lot of concentration, at that.
bro is asking "what is a woman" in the modern equivalent of a CoD lobby and didnt get a SINGLE "your mom"
kids these days...
you see how he isn’t asking women what a woman is, but he’s asking teenage boys??
to their person that said “a person with ovaries” has never met someone who got a hysterectomy
I hate when people try to define sexes by physical things. "A wOmAN is sOmEOnE WhO haS A uTeRUS" Yeah, what about the women who have XX chromosomes but were not born with uteruses? Not women all of a sudden? "A wOMaN is SomEoNE wHo has XX CHRoMoSOmEs" What about women born with female genitalia yet have defects at the chromosomal level? Even before trans identities were valid, these people still existed. And I find it incredibly stupid that people only ever seem to care about MTF transitions and not FTM. It really proves how often transphobia and misogyny can be so often intertwined. It's really depressing and honestly stupid. I'm non-binary, but I hope everyone is proud of themselves for who they are, be it trans, cis, genderfluid, non-binary, or anything, as long as they don't put down the people around them.
kurtis: i feel like no one likes me or knows who i am or gives a fuck
me: still screaming crying throwing up to this day because i didn't get to see kurtis when he came to dallas
but for real i understand the feeling a little bit just as a human with anxiety and i'm sure it's huge as a creator but we all adore you and are very proud of you ♡ best mayor this side of kurtistown has ever seen!
Kurtis needs to start looking at a checklist before leaving the house. It's okay Kurtis, we're all getting older too.
yessss! on a sticky note taped somewhere he would see it, on a note on his phone
its so upsetting to see that guy literally interrogating that kid. as a girl i find it weird when these people try to reduce us to a hole like...do we not have any humanity????
Lmfao at 23:24 kurtis says
“flex your wealth, tase a stranger”
In the pattern of
“Save a horse, ride a cowboy”
i’ll never get over that his transition sound for subject changes is the clip of a skeleton playing the piano from a goat story.
No way I thought it was just like Ominous Music Sound Clip #4 that makes more sense
Me neither, that's hilarious
Really appreciate you doing this podcast despite the tragedy of you step father passing away so recently. You spoil us Kurtis. We love you and I hope you recover well
a women is “ an adult human female being “ according to the literal dictionary… the fact that transphobes think they can twist that to be some sort of standpoint is disgusting. i love my fellow trans people so much - thank you for defending us kurtis!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻
Not surprised with how they twist the bible to fit their views
