Great videos man. Decent camera, simple explanations no over explaining, good lighting, clear speaking. Other youtubers could learn a lot from you as well.
chamfer chamfer chamfer! I could use a shot! Thanks bud getting there.. I am waiting on that detent video I'm excited to see how you do it. As always thanks for the knowledge!
u are the man.... keep those videos coming.... u are right btw...a digital read rocks on a mill,lathe... makes life so much easier....only realized that last weekend when i could work on a prof.mill n a big lathe.... as soon as u have used heavy duty machines u dont wanna go back to the small stuff we , regular knifemakers, can afford. ... damn it ... i should play the lottety more often...btw did u buy some welding equipment? ??
Dear Mike, great video again; thanks for sharing your knowledge. I wonder why you used the vise-clamped endmill to shorten the pivot; is there a special reason to that approach? I would have chucked the pivot in the hand drill and gave it a kiss on a 120 grit belt to get the job done. Nice tip to grind the camfer on the inside of the scales before cutting the lock face. I'll do so on my next linerlock build. Cheers and best regards, Timo
What affects the blade when being out of center in the handle and how can you prevent that? I have a few folding knives and I noticed one of my cheap ones favors one side, is that fixable?
it could be a number of different things. warping in the blade, pivot hole not perpendicular, back spacer thickness is off, etc. Fixing centering issues the right way usually takes some kind of tooling and adjusting in the shop. You can cheat sometimes by adjusting the pivot and the back spacer screws.
There is an easier way to cut your pivots down. Make a fixture for your surface grinder. It's just a hole with a counter bore on the bottom. I made one for pivots and one for standoffs so I can cut down six of each at the same time. Keeps everything square and parallel.
Another informative video sir. Cheers 4 sharing , and nice ending... Ah I also forgot to ask in the last video about the lockbar relief ,why some knives have the relief on the outside and some on the inside? is there any difference? And also should the lockbar cutout only go back to the far edge of the relief or should it finish in the middle of the relief or does it matter. Cheers again
Inside or outside doesn't really matter. There have been some arguments on which way is better but to be honest the difference is negligible. It also doesn't matter where the lock bar cut ends provided its somewhere in the relief cut.
Mike!!!! what are you thinking??? clamping an endmill in a vice and cutting like that!!!! dude go buy yourself a collet block! they are well worth the money!!! I have seen quite a few people get hurt doing that, I cringed the whole time

Ekim Knives thanks, I'll look into it and see if I can fix it.
Maybe I've missed this in another video, but what gives the lock bar it's spring attributes? Do you bend the lock bar into place and then heat treat?
or is it just an attribute of the titanium with no heat treating?
what mill useing
