I find it humorous that he played the Archbishop of Canterbury in “The King’s Speech” and the Duke of Windsor here. In real life, those two loathed each other and are probably rolling over in their graves knowing the same actor portrayed both of them.

There's some interesting connections to "The King's Speech", besides the subject matter: Derek Jacobi played the Archbishop of Canterbury in that film (in which he speaks with the future Duke of Windsor). Also Claire Bloom, who played Queen Mary in that film previously worked with Geraldine Chaplin's father (you know who) in "Limelight".

It was his red ministerial papers box, in which the monarch receives goverment papers for viewing, comment, approval and signature for royal assent. All of which flies in the face of the arguemnt that the UK monarch is apolitical. They know exactly what goverment policy is and if it does not suit the crown can "suggest" ammendements, of which the toading Prime Minister in power at the time always takes on board. The UK working-time directive and Diversity act of 2010 are two minor expamles of the monarchy reading Goverment papers and "advising" it did not suit them. Neither act applies to the workers in the many royal households. No limit to working hours and no requirement to have a diverse workforce. Unlike the rest of the great unwashed of the UK who have to adhear to these laws because, as "subjects" not citizen of the UK, we are unworthy. There have been many other occasions where the monarchy has meddled in UK political affairs to suit themselves.

I was a throughly nasty piece of work who cared little for anyone but himself. He spent £10,000 in 1930s money of public money on gifts to that Simpson womam (who also cared for no one but herself). In 1946 they hung William Joyce as a traitor for making a few broadcasts to the UK that people laughed at anyway. Edward the 8th put in writing to Hilter that he should carry on bombing the UK to bring it to its knees. He openly conspired against his homeland and threw his lot in with the Nazi's, with, it is generally accepted, that had Germany invaded the UK the Nazi's would have installled him as monarch. When the Marburg papers came to light they should have treating him the same way as Joyce. The guy was a traitor.
