Truly a blue tractor man's idea of heaven here, and it's something else to watch the New Holland Versatile working again this weekend. I think the Ford TW tractors were assembled and built over in Ford's Belgian plant in Antwerp during the 1980s. So many class tractors working together in one location, just fantastic to see in this excellent video.
Thanks guys .. spent many hours in an old Ford 88 series cab pulling a Dowdeswell … 0:06 back window well and truly open with that wonderful intoxicating smell of newly turned earth and dust filling the cab!! Happy days
Another great video lovely easy working land i hated it when wet and clagy stuck to every thing much preferred the heavy bodied clay for running clean even if it took a bit more H P . We used to plough the kale stubble after strip grazing in winter with a Fordson Major on spade lugs Happy Days . All the best Alec.
What an excellent video. I think it's your best one yet. The big Newholland with the ten furrow plough an amazin sight . The super Major andDexter looked like new a credit to their owners. Thank you for your excellent work 👏
Thanks for the comment. I'd love to take it for a round! I'm sure I will catch up with you some time and hear it's story. I cant believe how good that plough is. I would have expected someone to have abused it over the years.
Couldn't agre more. One aim of making a good job of ploughing should be to bury the rubbish. And those that had soil sticking to the mouldboards need to get off and clean it off a few times and then the boards will soon shine up nicely, particularly on that sort of ground, which will then turn the firrow over properly as it should be done.
Correct, as an ex agricultural worker of 30 years and a demonstrator i would make sure the plough was set up before going to a demo. What really bugs me is when i see the disc on the rear furrow incorrectly set up so that it doesn't leave a nice clean furrow wall, come on guys, you're out there for all to see, show some pride in your work.
DOWDESWELL TEN FURROW Don't know how many got made. They went up to twelve furrows, don't think it went above twelve. I was involved in making the first prototype along with two other work colleagues. We built it up in the development work shop at the Dowdeswell factory. Originally, it was a plough with a tool carrier on the rear so that a normal reversible plough could be hitched on the rear. That idea was dropped for production models as the management where frightened that custom would put any old heap of scrap on the back andexpect . to plough like a new machin! 😂
Great video 👍 covered many of the ranges of fordson and ford tractors, the Pre Force 5000 was well able to handle more than 3 Furrows and the TW10 more than 4 furrows 🤔 have to say dont think the grain monitor on the combines in these fields were working very well 🙄😳😂
@@Casterton-Vintage that’s true. And it was a long way to road the 35 from Retford. The 25 went on the lorry. I’m sure you’ll see some pictures about as we had the all lined up together.
I believe the Ford 5000 was introduced in 1964 and to me was known as the 6x prefix 68hp replaced in 1968 by the 6y 5000 with the plastic front grill and 72hp later up rated to 75hp. Please correct me if I'm wrong
Not sure. Ploughing across the tramlines is very normal at this sort of event but I prefer to do as you suggest because it's not so uneven when you drill next years crop!
Good day from Canada Boy interesting. Yes Major over here was a good tractor Bk in middle 60's over here 10=60 took over 4500 cdn Nuffield did not stand MF took over Then JD. But neighbour had 7710 & it was alot easier on fuel than other makes Interesting Ths
@@Casterton-Vintage I know. Sadly the humble and charismatic Standard N and earlier Model F are being forsaken for the faithful, easy running diesels that are all too popular for those who can't persuade a spark ignition machine into life. Especially from warm.
that massive, centre-cab, new holland, with the quad duallies, and the ten share plough .... ROCK AND ROLL !!
👍
Another great video - very nice to see the life story of the Fordson Major in action, great stuff!
Many thanks!

Nothing quite like it.
Blimey...thats some mean machine, up our neck off the woods eh... yep we got some stoney fields, thanks again Casterton....
I thought we had all the stone. Seeing this land made me feel much happier!

Lovely memories. Thanks for sharing.
Another great video thanks. This looks like a really good event. Another one I will have to try to get to .

Great seeing the Ford tractors and my favourite the fordson majors ! Great video by you again !
Thanks 👍

Hello! Fine oldies! At fourteen, I learnt with a Ford 5000...
Great memories to have. A 5000 was too big for our farm at the time but there were lots working localy.
@@Casterton-Vintage 👌
Great video - thanks.
Looking at the aerial shots close to the end, it seems a lot of grain was going out the back of the combine!
👍
Nice TW10 rare 2wd good to see.
That's what I thought.
Brilliant footage 😊 the 9684 is mine nice to see it working from the air etc
If you see me again have to have a chat 👍👍

Yes the plough is in great shape it makes a lovely pair I’m hoping to blast it and paint it this next spring
I'm sure it takes time to set up the drone but wow, it provides great footage! Will always have a soft spot for the Major. Another great vid
Thanks.
TW series produced in Antwerp, Belgium, after initial production for worldwide use in Michigan USA
That's the comprehensive reply I was looking for. I couldn't fathom out the US and Belgium contributions.
Brilliant as always………
Thanks
Think some of them need a few lessons on setting a plough. Those that were set right were making a good job of it.
😊

Good one. Nice ford tractors. Would have been nice to see a compact Ford tractor, say a 1500, to round it out. Big to small. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
Thanks 👍. Glad you enjoyed it.
It was a brilliant weekend both day's

Hola mi abuelo tuvo un Ebro Fordson Major aqui en España hace ya muchos años.Pero yo no me acuerdo. Fue a primero de los años 70.😊
That would have been nice to see. Thanks.
@@Casterton-Vintage😊👍
Looks like you went on the Sunday. We took a TW25 and 35 on the Saturday and got some cracking pictures with Jamie’s NH and the TW10 there.
That would have been good but there are never enough days to fit everything in.

It sounds like you know a lot more than me. Thanks for the info.
Would they have buried more stubble ploughing the same way as the drilling I wonder? 🤔

The TW Range for europe and I believe most of the rest of the worldwere built in Antwerp where mine was built.
Thanks.
TW 25 that I drove had a "made in Belgium" label next to the foot throttle
Thanks.
Very strange land it ploughed lovely in places but awful elsewhere
I noticed that. Very frustrating!

Hi Canada Boy. Thanks for the info.
Most of those who plow here cannot adjust a plow, especially the one with the New HollandT4.95.
I was talking to the driver of the T4.95 and the plough was borrowed so I don't think he wanted to mess with it. The tractor was crabbing quite badly.
Where are the Standard Fordsons 😮😢
Sorry, no Standard Fordsons at this event but plenty on my channels other videos.
