    Here in the states it's a bachelors degree. You also have state requirements and testing for licensing if you start your own business. If you want you can get your masters or Phd if you want to teach in university. It's a very focused science and many paths you can take. One reason it's still taught as electrical theory.

    Serious question. I'm currently living in GA, but plan to move out to CA as soon as I get my bachelor's in EE. My question - is there better opportunities out in the West Coast? Also, my high school doesn't really teach much on EE or technology for that matter. Is most of the knowledge aquired during my time in college or was I supposed to already have a beginning foundation from high school? Really want to pursue this career as I have a very ambitious life goal.

    It's a different path, electrical apprentices become electricians. These are the workers who work under electrical engineers. Electrical engineers make the plans, electricians carry them out.

    • @MysteriousStranger08
      @MysteriousStranger08 8 лет назад

      +P Syle If you think you don't have enough knowledge you can always start self-teaching yourself more advanced things (e.g. using MIT Opencourseware, Harvard Extensions and such), as well as gain experience by calling companies and asking for a work experience. Doing these will make you highly employable, regardless if you are studying in a low ranking university.

      @lukelpmmcpherson4718 5 лет назад +1

      Not impressive but brave, female's don't become electrical engineers because they are afraid of what people would say, not because they can't do it. And that is the only reason the average man gets paid more than the average woman, so say that if a modern feminist starts playing up lol and men only get promoted more because they don't get pregnant and they are more aggressive and less likely to let emotions get in the way of what is best for the company, the average man is a better boss than the average woman (AVERAGE) women are more emotional but they are just as intelligent and hard working as a men and that is all you need to be an electrical engineer. I respect women like her for her bravery and setting an example for other women to follow, and shutting up the fulse feminist that say lies and make young girls believe they don't have the same opportunity as boys. Men and women are becoming more alike with time because they have the same lifestyle as males in the younger years at least and they are challenged in life so they now reach full potential only fear stops them in the UK. I've spent a lot of time with lots of females and I see the one's who have been challenged in life end up at the top over taking most men I know. I think a lot of men don't respect women as much a man, they need to look up the definition of respect and then see they are missing morals. Any ladies watching this remember you can be anything you want, but maybe stay away from the building sights, your brain is just as strong but your fine little tight body isn't lol, if you are nice and interested in doing plumbing instead, then you can come to my house and I can show you how I lay the pipe, my phone number is hahaha. Well good thing she isn't an actress, she IS AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER!! People are always so critical!! Here this woman is just trying to explain her experience as an electrical engineer, the path she took and someone always has to put in their 2 cents, SMFH!! Keep your opinions to yourself!! I think she did a great job explaining her experiences and the industry!!

    In my opinion, if you have not received an electrical shock at least once in your life, you are not worth to be an electrical engineer & I doubt she would have received electric shock even once!

    • @ss-rh2hk
      @ss-rh2hk 9 лет назад

      ***** It is not a professional requirement but if you don't work with your hands you will never get a shock so you will never learn from your mistakes. Mistakes transform into experience which enhances skill. This is part of trait which goes on to make an expert hands on engineer!

      so the 4-5 years of university, the thousands of hours studying, all of that doesnt mean shit because shes not an electrician?

    • @ss-rh2hk
      @ss-rh2hk 9 лет назад +3

      SheIIdon A skilled electrical engineer 'has to' be well versed with electrician's work. We all know how helpful textbooks are if there's a fault in a power panel..... you be the judge.

      ss if she graduated with a degree in electrical engineering (and went to a half decent school) she definitely already has some experience with it anyways. especially if she did work terms. I'm trying to think of what specialization to go into my second year, im assuming that youre EE, do you enjoy what you do?

    • @ss-rh2hk
      @ss-rh2hk 9 лет назад +3

      SheIIdon Ah Ok. Yes I am EE & into core EE. Let me tell you it's enjoyable if you r really interested but can be very frustrating if you are into EE only for the money cause practical life in core EE is pretty tough! If you doing engg. only for money take a cushy software job. The only cushy job in core EE is electrical design, but mostly taken up by girls who sit in office all day no site work. It does require brains but all the standards are easily available so one gets hang of it eventually. Hope this helps. Do ask me if you need to know more :)

    I'm an electrician... and this is why we hate electrical engineers. We are well versed in schematics (latter and line diagrams), blueprint development and reading, troubleshooting of electrical equipment etc. Most of us now go to college to become electricians so we can calculate circuits, capacitors, capacitance, induction, reactive inductance, phase angels etc. Electrical engineers are a joke.

      +Brandon Bohannon I'm an electrician, I also have 2 years education in high voltage engineering, I'm now studying electrical engineering, and where I'm from (DK) We don't study just to get that extra bump to the paycheck, no this is a hobby, this is about careing, learning and bettering yourself. Yes as an electrician you can calculate the basics of circuits. But trust me when I say, you have only sniffed to the tip of the iceberg, there is so much more to it than just the basic components you listed. There's also programming which is a huge part of it, C/C++, Linux kernels/drivers, embedded software, how data is transfered when you plug your phone in your PC, hardware abstraction layers, compatibility, documentation of your research, systems design, applied mathematics/physics (You will need this!) Basicly take your smartphone look at it.. As an electrical engineer you are actually able to make ALL of it :)! Look at your PC, same goes for that, your granddads pacemaker, same.. You can create/modify ANYTHING!
      At the moment I'm working on a shopping cart that will ease access for handicapped people, and make their shopping as easy, comfortable and enjoying as for the rest of us. Plus they will look hell a' cool with our robo-cart following them and picking stuff up for them, talking to them etc. ;)
      Nobody is a joke, every person in the society has an important role to fulfill.

      the least you make as an electrical enginner is to start off with 80k a year no electrican is making that starting off

    They made this actress wear a field jacket and protective goggles to make her look "active" and in the field. Pathetic

      So why do you assume she is an actress? I have known Jemima for a number of years and she is a very good Electrical Engineer? Pathetic alright!

    • @MarioRossi-sh4uk
      @MarioRossi-sh4uk 6 лет назад +2

      Wether or not she's really an enginner is totally irrelevant. All in this video is supposed to impress ignorant people who judges by visual clues only. So let's wear a signalling jacket and protective goggles (LOL), lett sorround the stage with huge machinery noone knows what they are. An engineer today is supposed to spend time on a desk, or at best, doing computer simulation or design using CAD.

      Yeah, you know there are requirements for you to stand in that warehouse? My dad is a technician, has his workshop entirely separate from the warehouse that he has to walk through everyday but he has to wear protective steel cap safety boots and if he is working outside his work shop, a hard hat.
