I like to minimize the amount of time I spend on the computer to leave more time for actually practicing my calligraphy. So I make my guide sheets manually and then I scan them into my computer and then save them as files for example italicNib5, italicNib3, foundationalNib5, uncialNib3 etc. Then I print them out as required. Your method with Adobe Illustrator is much more elegant and efficient though. I am finding your videos very useful - Thanks.
Thank you so much for this video. I love that you created your guide sheet in Illustrator. All of your tips and detailed video of the calligraphy is so helpful!
Hi Vivian. Thank you for your video. I bought a blank Rhodia notepad (80gsm) and used Daler Rowney's Calli Calligraphy Ink. During my test writing, I found that if I pressed a little harder, the ink would melt and the back of the paper would appear to bleed through. However, when I used a Rhodia notebook (90gsm), the ink bled less. So should I buy new inks?
Hi, thanks for posting this, I was looking for a video on how to make guidelines and so glad I came across your channel. Have subscribed! I have two questions: 1) is it possible to make the guide sheets in Word or Excel for people why don't have access to expensive software, and 2) what is the name of the book you're consulting in this video. Thanks, and I love your Etsy shop too!
Hi! Thanks for subscribing! It's hard to make the guide sheets in Word or Excel, but as I mentioned in the video, you can draw one manually, it doesn't take long to make one by hand and you only need to do it once. The book I referenced to in the video is this one: amzn.to/2RpHdiD
Hi Vivian, Great video. I bought a set of pens and a pad of guide sheets, but never got round to using them. Having watched 2 of your videos now I have been inspired to get going. Thank you so much for great tutorials. I have obviously subscribed to your channel. Regards, Barry
