    I'm still wearing my Gamma SV jacket that was made in Canada decades ago. That was the first Arcteryx I bought and will forever hold a special place in my heart. Now I have all sort of jackets, pants, gloves, packs you name it that were made in China. Arcteryx still has top notch quality and the best fit in the industry (barring the pants though... fit is just awkward on me). My atom lt hoody (made in China) from 10+ years ago that has accompanied me on numerous trips is still serving flawlessly to this day. It doesn't matter where the product is made. It's about how much heart and attention to details you devote in the design and manufacturing process. As long as you keep your top notch quality you'll have me forever as your faithful customer :)

    Not much is made here anymore, just the alpha SV, and the LEAF stuff/Valence, harnesses and some other misc stuff I can't quite remember.
    It honestly doesn't really matter to consumers like me, they quality is the same, if not better from overseas and that's just supply chain management.

    Instead of saying we as Arcteryx outsourced out manufacture because of “CHEAP LABOUR”, Arcteryx claims that they outsourced its manufacture because it was difficult for them to find skilful worker in Canada! That’s a lie. If you want, you can train young Canadians for your factory. What’s the point paying £600 for an Arcteryx jacket made in China???

  • @SirPhillyLeong

    Now that it's made in Asia shouldn't it reduce your production cost and in turn pass on the savings to the consumers.
    I mean the cost of a jacket made in China compared to being made in Canada would be massive. Why are you still charging us so much?
    It's not like your paying the factory workers is Asia Canadian wages.

    For the people concerned with the cost vs place of production (the made in China) products, just wait for the rest of the 90% of the brand (non LEAF, Veilance, and Outdoor) to go on 30-50% off sales. It always happens. Even then, the made in Canada stuff goes on out of season sales.

    • @lpslashgt
      @lpslashgt 5 лет назад +1

      Agreed. I just bought a Camosun Parka for 30% off at Sporting Life.
      I've had a Made in China Fission SV which I bought for 40% off when Live Out There sold them. It has been my daily winter jacket in Alberta, Canada for around 8 years now and it still looks and performs like new (except I am sure it is not nearly as warm). When I told the cashier at Sporting Life it was that old she was surprised and said "It still looks brand new".
      I have quite a few other pieces of Arc'teryx as well and they all are great. I do wish they were all made in Canada, but then I'm sure the prices would be even higher, and they have already increased a lot since I bough the Fission SV. The 30% off sale price for a Fission SV is now what the regular price was when I bought it, could be because of the decline in the CND$ though.

    They do great cuts. Great style! However, I wished that my Arc'teryx jackets hardshells wouldn't all delaminate and fall apart. I wish they would not decline to repair them somehow. I wish they would care about their products after warranty time as well. At least here in Europe.

    Arc'teryx was cooler when it was privately owned and only made in Canada. They should have stayed small and exclusive. The owners sold out to a big corporation and that corporation wants to exploit the brand for all they can. Now it's just another outdoor brand. Down the same path as North Face or any number of others.

      Arc’teryx make a lot of great products. But like everything else, Arc’teryx as a company, is not always perfect. Sometimes mistakes are made, or a product needs a redesign. It’s just the way things work in this world. As a customer, I expect perfection when I buy a product from Arc’teryx. But, sometimes things do fail. And if it does, I’ll get it fixed. It may be disappointing, but nothing is perfect, and nothing lasts forever. I am a great fan of Arc’teryx, and have a number of they’re products. I’ve had a few disappointments, but I still buy from Arc’teryx, because I feel that they are the best in the business 👍🏻👍🏻🇳🇴

      The way I see it guys is like This ....there is more then One logic/reason That drives si massive companies to shift their productions overseas..
      And we cannot deny that one of the major reasons is profit but let’s not forget or deny that in terms of manufacturing, Asia has long history in craftsmanship and ppl skills ,material and so on for this type of business ..there are certain procedures that Asian ppl are more skilled and efficient then any other westerners.in the run for mass production with the robots help (western mentality ) in order to maximize profit a lot of the skills made by ppl like sewing and tailoring got lost

    Used to be a reputable brand until they were sold off to some Chinese conglomerate. Virtually everything excluding your ALPHA SV is being out-sourced in Asia. The overall quality (or lack thereof) of your product lines have drastically fallen off a cliff. Straying away from your roots, appealing to a different demographic nowadays.
