Last January we stayed in London for eight days and we had planned a one day trip to Paris, unfortunately it was January 31 and the Eiffel Tower and a few other things were on strike so we canceled it. Rather than lose the €300 in train tickets, we are now spending thousands more to go back to Paris for four days at the beginning of December so I’m binging your videos. We are flying into London again for three days and then taking the train to Paris.
I’m doing this trip with my mom in April and we can’t wait. She just wants to see Buckingham and Big Ben, and then we’ll just hang out for the rest of the day.
Took the train to London from Paris for the day. Fastest way to see everything was the Red Bus. Checked out Harrod’s. Forgot they don’t take Euros in London. PS make sure you eat something before leaving London, as every place to eat near train station was already closed by the time we returned. 😢
On my first visit to Paris in summer of 2015 my day trip to London ended up being overnight due to tyres being lit on fire at Calais with lots of trains cancelled, this taught me a lot about having back up plans for such things. I also met some lovely people in the queue at St Pancras. Great story thanks
That’s one long day but worth it as cooper looked great wearing his pressie! Plus you managed to get your fix of M&S cheesy puffs! Never done Eurostar as it’s another 2 hrs and another train ticket from Manchester but one day I will. Great video Jay! 👍
I could do a stress-full guide to Paris->London involving rushing from another party past the odd types around Bercy to the bus station at 11pm to make it cramped and aching in London at 7:30am. Plus sides is you get to see the sunrise over the cliffs of Dover on the ferry and you arrive at a perfect time for a breakfast.
Eurostar definitely needs effective competition. It’s been nearly 30 years since Paris - London services started and they’ve had a monopoly for far too long. Far too expensive unless one books well in advance on offers, too much queuing, and the departure lounges at Gare du Nord and St Pancras do not have enough seats and get packed at peak times. Better than flying? Possibly and one does at least go city centre to city centre. Plus they need to re-open Ebbsfleet and Ashford to take the pressure off St Pancras.
Eurostar has some getaway deals incl. Hotel that if you are going to either London or Paris for 10 days make sense to spend 3 nights in the other. We did London to Paris and participating museums incl. D'Orssy & Orangerie were 50% off when you show your Eurostar ticket. If you plan in advance, the Eurostar makes it an easy way to see the 2 best cities in the world at once! I don't have kids and like to say London is my vibrant boy and Paris is my beautiful girl. You can't force me to pick a favorite child!
You don't even need to leave Gare du Nord to get on the metro :) So that's the good news! The metro doesn't run all night, though, but you should be find if you arrive before midnight.
@@JaySwanson I agree, the quality of your content is amazing, always! How do you get it to sound so good, especially when you're far away from the camera? What microphone do you use?
This video how you did the different shots in London you should do some more like that exploring different cities in Europe you made it look really cool
Enjoyed my first Eurostar trip just last month, much more relaxing than flying. Just one point I’d like to make, arrived at Gare du Nord from Gare de Lyon and there was no obvious signage for Eurostar, asked two different staff members who did the “Galic shrug”. Then yes that “am I in the right lane” queuing up 🤷🏻♀️. At St Pancras you cannot fault the signage for Eurostar, it’s almost as if it’s the station’s raison d’etre 😉. How cute is Cooper 😍. Very entertaining travel vlog, thank you 👏
This is great! Thanks for this - I happen to have tickets on that train that I stupidly bought when things were starting to open up for a trip we took a couple years ago... I've been kicking them forward (rebooking) every few months since then. I can say with authority that as long as you rebook a few weeks in advance, you can find a fare that is the same price, so no additional fees. sigh. Still hoping to one day make that trip! 🙃
Your friend is a special guy. 😉 Very sweet. I LOOOOVE London. I'd try a day trip, maybe, but I'd just pack patience and minimize my expectations. Its not going to be an in depth trip - either in London or Paris for a day - but more of a snapshot for another, longer visit. Heck! Since my husband works for an airline, we fly to California for the day from Seattle. Its pretty much the same idea (but two hours in the airport each way, plus two hours each flight - thats eight hours of just travel - ugh). We usualy get about six hours in Downtown Disney or LA, San Francisco, etc. Ok to visit my husband's dad or go shopping. Last Friday, with a delayed flight and LA traffic, we saw the Space Shuttle Endeavor for an hour, had dinner at Universal City Walk and it was back to BUR to go home. That trip was a bit of a boondoggle. LOL!! But hey! Its an ADVENTURE!!! BTW - Its St. PAUL'S, not St. Peter's.
@@JaySwanson sorry to bother you I found it the same to fly back into CDG is that good idea I always want fly out London Heathrow seen big jettv on RUclips so that I asking it is BritishAirways.
Good day trip Jay, what happened to your French nationality application? do you have any updates? I already did my interview 2 months ago, fingers crossed 🤞
The ending! :-) I'm trying to decide if I go just to Paris and take a long day trip to London, or if I'll leave Paris and stay a few days in London and leave for home from there. Never been to either. I think after watching this video, I'll take at least a couple of days for visiting London. Thanks for the insights.
Hi Jay , Help!! Is getting out of Gare du Nord pretty easy to do at night? We are planning to take the Metro to our hotel after a day in London. Thanks for the info. Happy Birthday Cooper 🎊 🎉
I'm surprised you did not like the cafe in the crypt. The visuals alone are worth it. One of the best fryups I've had was there. Also, did you miss the lineup of the phone booths head 10 downing?
Beaverton was owned by Robert Palmer's son of led zeppelin... He sold a share of it to Heineken over 6 + years ago, then sold more of the share some time later ... Beaverton use to be a good brewery and brought out lots of good brews ,sadly not now and the recipe has changed of neck oil for sure
Great vide video!! We plan to travel from Paris to London for a day trip. Quick question is there a quick transportation system that will take you from the St Pancras International to Big Ben? How did you get around London and see al the sites in the video?
Flew in from PDX to London and met up with my granddaughter, who lives in Paris last spring. We saw Westminster the last day it was open before the coronation. Walked all over the city and rode the double decker bus. Got a lot packed into one day before heading into Scotland. It is absolutely doable.

I'm flying to London with my mum in mid-December and would like to surprise her with a day trip to Paris. We would leave London in the morning and take the last train back from Paris. The only thing that worries me is that there is not much good news about the gare du Nord. Is it really that unsafe there in the evening or when it's already dark outside the station?
You'll be fine commuting to Gare to Nord! Chances are you'll get the metro there anyway, which means you won't be outside.
