Thank u for visiting our island home ... yes those little back street, hole in the wall resto's are fabulous. The Roulots ( food trucks) are gems too. but real "Maa Tahiti" isn't found there. It's found on the small islands like Huahine on Sunday's cooked traditionally in The Ahi Maa ( pit oven). Served buffet, all you can eat, with ones fingers. Btw, Figi is not part of the society islands.

We live by the sun, everything closed at 5pm, only bars, clubs, some drugstore and big supermarket are open

No, There is many way, you can get it: you can buy it (people who need money sell it to you by the roads or car parks (i'm not keeding), knowing someone who has a tree in their garden (pretty common fruit here, many gave it for free if they like you), buy it at the market of papeete (mostly tourists), or If you have family in other parts of french polynesie, they send it to you

Number one problem for the tourists who comes here... visiting the city in the weekends...Majority of the People who leaves in french polynesia do not work on the weekends, they enjoy their week-end (beaches, splend time with family, go to moorea, go to churches (majority are catholics and prostestants)
