You should post a friendly disclaimer that before other people go out and try this, to exercise extreme caution as less than 10 seconds of direct sunlight into the lenses of your Quest 3 can brick it permanently. A painful loss of $500-$1000 because your visor was sitting in the passenger seat and light hit it for 8 seconds and wiped the lenses forever.

It wouldn't "brick" the device. Destroy a good section of the screens but that's it. Those screens may be repaired.

Surprised that you could manage to handle the wobbles for so long. I think a good Questperiment would be somewhere very crowded with good lighting (College hallway?, busy mall?, airport?)
I don't think that driving would be smart, because of the lack of peripheral vision.
It would be fun to see you go through an obstacle course though. Either driving in a safe place or running with stairs and things to avoid, etc.

Someone tried driving already... Didn't work since the moment you accelerate... reality itself warps and turns into darkness

@@slothonastick32 doesn't look that much better though. The pass through is a bit better, but not thousands of dollars better. Quest 3 has way more things you can do too because just like apple loves to do, they restrict it. I'm really curious if Apple is getting UEVR

I tried this with Quest 2. So I know of love to do this with the 3
I think the thing you need to be conscious of is pointing a device at someone with multiple camera’s and sensors could trigger an negative reaction, be careful is what I’d say
This would be practical if you could actually have a the windows stay follow you around rather than having to physically "carry them"
I do this often, on the bus. At the train, i was thinking..would it be too much to ask for multi-player mini games in your space or while in pass-through? Like some stationary pass-through games while im riding 😅.
The reason the footage is higher quality than inside the vr is because its hard to get the vr to sit perfectly on ur face like nearly impossible because you need to have the headstrap right and the space between your eyes

how did you get the browser to move with you? if I walk around with my quest the browser stays at a location and i can walk right by it unless i am holding the white border?
I simply recenter every once in a while, this places the window in front of you if you’ve wandered too far
Try the assistant, maybe ask for recommendations seem it’s connect to the internet. I have the glasses and used pi how to check for ripe avocados.

Yes AR is missing, but I think the focus from Meta was MR for Apps and Games and not what people do now with the Quest 3😅
I just got huge idea 💡 , valerian movie the VR shopping center moment but for Walmart and instead of shoppers faces it's like a privacy shield for them I would go to Walmart with quest 3 it could make anxiety users more prone to leaving the house, if only ceos and other higher ups were paying attention, they could make the ar and VR next year

@DiscoVR It really caught my attention the bobo battery attached on the soft strap, but my question still remain how did you plug it to the headset? Can you cable just the battery to the hmd port or do you need a base to mediate between battery and headset? Because i see in the video its kind attached to a L shaped base right?

I didn’t, I simply hit recenter any time I needed to see the menu :)

@CorporateZombi Yes, a non-color passthrough is possible in standalone mode. They also plan a „MR faceplate“ with color cameras, no eta. on this though.

Yes! I stumbled upon my menu a couple of times as I was walking around that large produce section looking for corn 😂 but most of the time I was just recentering my view every once in a while to bring the menu to me

That was a really fun video. Imagine, if some developer out there would make a game where you actually have an AR interaction while shopping. The other shoppers could be zombies, or aliens, of some characters from the movies. When you reach for something on a shelf, some type of creature could jump out at you. Walmart could become a giant AR experience. I really enjoyed your shopping trip. Looking forward to your dinner date questperiment next. Also...I saw you had a BOBO battery attached to your headstrap. Maybe you could show us how you did that? I've tried but nothing is actually comfortable.
The quest 3 passthrough is good, but its not good enough for something like this. Maybe one day vr could be used like this, but not yet

I got my quest a few days ago and my first impressions with the super hyped passthrough.....was an absolute let down. I kept asking "did I get a defective unit?" I don't think I did.
I don't think I did. I just think every bigger VR RUclipsr has been over hyping it and everyone is parroting it. It's better than the quest 2 black and white, but even in a very brightly lit room or outdoors, it's grainy and full of artifacts. I'm just not impressed based on what my expectation was from RUclips.
I can read texts on my phone, but barely. It's hard to make out the letters in a text at least I can. Going on the hype though, I was under the impression it would be crystal clear and I'd be able to see my phone screen like I wasn't even wearing a headset.

Maybe on the next one a better camera so you can see as far as a eagle. And maybe cameras 8n the back soyou can see behind you.

People who don't know what a Quest is probably thought it was some kind of new medical device to help your impaired vision.
You struggled to find the peppers, in the future the vison will be augmented with AI so all you'll do is ask and it'll already have seen and catalogued where everything is as you walk in

i still don't understand why the passthrough has all the warping and such. why not simply give raw video from the cameras?
We all know that VR on regular glasses are coming. The only problem is that it may cost us an arm & a leg.
Alright, now just virtualize the store so you can do pickup/delivery while still shopping like normal. Some people might prefer it over the flat website shopping experience 🤷♂️
Maybe the reactions were somewhat 'controlled' by the unsuspecting public because they also saw your husband recording the experiment- people are usually calm or conscious when they see a camera filming. It'd be interesting to see a similar experiment withe the quest user alone doing the shopping (accompanied by someone from afar for safety) and the whole thing can be recorded by an action or 360 camera hehe. Regardless, this was an interesting and cool video!

Sometimes people are laughing when they see new technology usually because they have no ideea of what it can do. Eventually the will accept it. AR/VR will be used more and more because definetly its part of the future, many will argue, but when companies like Apple enters into the game its obvious where we’re heading. Im pretty sure we’ll soon have more affordable headsets coming in smaller size.
Yeah I think it was like when I had a 10 inch padphone and people felt funny when I was talking on the phone however people accepted that after a few years.

To be honest, even if the quality was as good as the recording, it looks very harsh on the eyes - even before you got to the colorful toy aisle.
I and my friends mount her anywhere, anytime. So I hope other Q3 owners act like us.
