      You don't think Mark thought about this? Not the outside lenses. And there is also a sticker that you peel away over the inside lenses when they are new, warning users not to let sunlight hit the lenses. Again - they show inside lenses only.

    Meta says explicitly not to take ANY of its Quest devices outside. The reasons are two-fold. First, the Quests use infrared sensors for tracking, and bright sunlight will overwhelm those sensors. The second problem is, in many ways, more critical: Direct sunlight can damage your Quest's lenses and display

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  4 месяца назад +2

      Hi Harry. That’s my point in this video. 1. Even though quest 3 uses infrared, its tracking works even in bright sunlight. 2. Yes direct sunlight on the inside lenses can burn the display as I mentioned in the video. But as long as I protect it from that (eg by wearing it and putting a cover when not using it) then it seems to be ok so far.

    Another great video, with superb insights. However, I have two concerns: (1) Secure and stable internet connectivity -what do you use? 5G? Is it expensive?, and (2) Social pushback - Parents in the park are not likely to approve and there's always a chance that a child or a dog will walk into your area.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  8 месяцев назад +4

      Thanks buddy! Just to clarify, you can play in your backyard. You don't have to be away from your house. As for internet, many games don't require internet connection. But I'll test if my phone's 5G hotspot is good enough. As for other people, there were parents and kids when I was using Quest and I was playing Thrill of the Fight (punching etc.) and no one looked at me strangely. I think part of it was choosing a spot that was far away from other people.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Roslyn. If the ground is uneven, you will need to be a little careful so that you don’t twist your ankle or something. For sloped ground, the floor of the game is not going to change to match your actual ground. If the floor in the game is flat and your real world ground is sloping then as you walk down the slope, your perspective in the game will get lower. I hope that clarifies.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  4 месяца назад

      I think if the lenses applied an ND filter dark enough to protect against the sun then it may be too dark to see regular objects which would make it unable to track the headset’s position. For what it’s worth, with Vision Pro’s release, several people have tried wearing Vision Pro outdoors and no one seems to be complaining about sunlight burning the outside lenses. (But of course inside lenses can definitely magnify the sunlight and burn the display)

    Wonder if there will be game's similar to pokemon go where your using pass thru to show the pokemons or other AI generated characters and stuff.
    It would require a large amount of local info similar to google maps street view so that the AI characters are not just randomly floating in space but follow roads and paths as if they are real.
    That would enable you to do things like run and be chased by a bunch of zombies or chase a pokemon to catch it or have a virtual coach etc.
    It would probably have to work in conjunction with a mobile phone to provide GPS info and download maps as you moved about.
    Also more like what your doing in the park there seems the possibility for games or apps that are intended to use really big areas and map a full building to the area - so you could pretend to be walking inside the pyramids or taj mahal in VR.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  8 месяцев назад

      Hey there guyblais. The issue is not going to be fixed by quest 3. What’s happening is that the game floor is flat but your physical floor is inclined for example. If you walk down the incline in real life then your perspective will get lower, making it seem like you are shrinking. Dips have the same effect.

    • @guyblais6365
      @guyblais6365 8 месяцев назад +1

      @360vroomers ha yes I realize that. But as the quest 3 has depth sensor I am hoping it continuously tracks the height of the ground relative to the height of your head auto adjusting for lower areas of the yard.. so in game height would not be affected . Make sense ? Haha I really hope it's the case. The quest 2 determined the height based on one flat plane so if you went up or down from that plan you would rise or shrink in game. I'm just wondering if the depth sensor will detect those lower areas and be able to compensate.

      @@360vroomers Your video starts with the very question of "why didn't META tell us that the QUEST could do this ...". I will happily share with you the simple answer to your question within the context as it was given to me by Oculus when I made a video showing the original QUEST being used in a 25 foot by 25 foot closed wall gazebo with some other tek I was developing; META simply want's absolutely no affiliation with the risk of labiality regarding any injury to person due to even just the suggestion of usage regarding their headset product outside; thus, even IF no-risk of hardware was deemed as a possibility META would still boldly declare within it's TOS for allowable usage of their QUEST product line of headsets that; any META headset used is conditional to usage under it's official statement of compliance for TOS of their product with the firm unconditional statement of "DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH IT'S TOS"... thus, one of the firm directives of the TOS is "Do not use your headset outdoors". The TOS actual statement on this topic is "Do not use your headset outdoors" and META further remarks "any type of outside damage isn't covered under warranty, nor is exposure to direct sunlight even if it's indoors".
      I had a product idea that I was going to move forward with and Patent when the first Quest headset just released; however, in that action or researching the plausibility of my idea being nonobvious and novel for the sake of getting a Patent I discovered Oculus/META had taken a rather aggressive stance in the effort of reducing litigation possibility due to personal injury from product usage. in-fact your statement of "I'm not a representative of meta I'm not even an engineer so I can't guarantee anything" might place you at a level of risk of labiality.
      I continue to use a large infrared/UV shielded enclosed gazebo outdoors from time to time to play on my Quest, the large play are is totally awesome and worth the cost of the gazebo as I live in a small apartment with access to a large grassy secluded area right outside our apartment. So I totally get where your coming from being able to utilize a large area; and surprisingly the argument-reality side of the Quest 3 headset works even better with high intense lighting. Never the less... META simply want's absolutely no affiliation with any risk of labiality regarding any injury to person due to even just the suggestion of usage regarding their Quest headset product line outside.
      honestly; if the headset fails as a result of outside usage then it's simply some money lost and thus not much of a big deal as it get writing off as just another life lesson learned... however, the other point as made by Oculus/META in the past regarding wanting absolutely no affiliation with risk of labiality discouraged me from suggesting the idea to others within a public circle of activity. possibly this is the very reason "Even reviewers aren't talking about it!". I'm not trying to be a downer here; rather, suggesting another angle you might wish to consider.
