- Wow! Where do I even begin with this one, I was so eager to see a new Berserk game which used Stylish Design elements and close quarters combat. I decided to Program this prototype as a means to show the world what my vision was, unfortunately I'm not an animator so I used a beautiful pack from a talented animator called Grruzam. The most important part about designing this system was envisioning myself as Guts, understanding the importance of frame connections as well as weight when it comes to combat. I've done my research, and I'm proud of how this ended up! The hardest challenge was nailing Gut's iconic canon, since he's more on the offensive side I decided to incorporate a dash that can connect to the canon to really nail the feel of the combat!

I might get questions of people asking if I can continue on this, I will probably not! I worked as a combat designer on a recent fan game called Dragon Ball Demon Breaker and it was a great experience, I feel like fan games are just a one time thing. Gotta cherish that moment and move on to the original work!! Also, the anims are by Grruzam! You can see the credits in the bottom left corner of the video :)

This amazing, Bader. Hey if you are not going to continue it, could you release the project, or make some videos about how it is made? I'm trying to learn UE and I would love to see projects like thise disassembled piece by piece to know how they are built.

Nice! The Grruzam pack is one of my favorites. I haven’t touched the greatsword stuff yet. Your character looks like it’s moving via blueprint which I’ve noticed in this and other projects look waaay better than the default root motion. I love the hit fx too.

what do you mean by moving via blueprint? could you please elaborate?
@@musikalniyfanboichik means the character is not using root motion to move but instead he uses line trace to get a new location and lerp to that location if the character was far from the enemy or from close rand the player character snaps to new attack location calculated from the enemy location and the animation it self is played in place and the actor is lerping location

Berserk meets devil may cry? I never knew I wanted a combo like that to exist until now.
Looks amazing even for just a concept project! I was wondering how you handled air attack and how you launched the character upwards?
you should add the cross bow and make it like the guns in devil may cry and the ammo regenerates over time.
I'm doing mostly 2D right now but I was in the situation where I want to keep 2D Combos in 3D while having both Camera Freedom and Directional Skills.
Then this shows up. Not exactly what I want but something that really gives me idea.

It looks like the animations by this guy grruzzam. His stuff is usually in the top rated list of most game asset stores

but you should include heavy attacks like in the old games

How did you do the air combo system? Were you pausing gravity for the main player on air attacks or doing a small jump? Very curious

Are those two different colliders on separate layers?
The box collision was just used to maintain distance away from the player pawn because I was avoiding a clipping problem. Otherwise all hit detections were done using spheretraces through anim notify states :)
Do you use root motion for this type of combat?
Isn't it zabohza sword from Naruto and the combat too looks quite similar

I funny how it just turn into devil may cry combat near the end.
I just found this video yesterday. I must say I like the way you implemented Gut's cannon, but I think his general movement speed and reckas should be slower, as when he 'Devil Trigger' out his Berserker Armor, he'll be schmoozing. I'm excited more concept videos that you'll put out.
Also, I would love to see interpret Griffin's combat, especially when switching from human to God Hand form.
I dont find hand to hand combat tutorials out there would you make one ?

It’s fairly simple, you should just call a sphere trace via animnotify states dependent on your socket’s location in the skeleton.

@@baderalqahtani1780 can you make a walk through ? i didnt fully get you , why using sockets with the sphere trace ? shouldnt just be from the player's location ? and it detects the enemy and snap to it location ?
@@arrowsdev That, you can do. I generally like using socket location for better control over the different parts of the body :)

Not sure about this. The sword doesn't look very heavy. I was hoping for more momentum-based combat, in which you have to swing the sword to generate the momentum from each swing to deal a devastating strike like in the manga
Honestly you can make it like DMC or dark souls meets dynasty warriors and it wouldn't even be out of Canon
Knight Artorias but with a hand cannon.

I feel like you could repurpose for the OTK games expo. As Asmongold is a huuuuge fan of Berserk, he'll take a big liking to this. I'd say even consider propping this up on his reddit and see how much initial traction you can get on this!

Nice! Why did you need the box collision around the enemy?
Just distance between the player and the enemy, used it for prototyping. Was dealing with a weird clipping issue

This looks amazing. A cool ass job overall. My only nitpick are that the speed of the combos. They seem more golden age guts then dragon slayer guts. But thats just me. Like your description says. Its more so focused on the feel and satisfaction of character. Not so much the character itself. And I agree. This shit looks fun
Cool but the sword needs to be bigger and the animation has to show the sword swinging guts around as he swings the sword
