Me personally I’m rocking with melo all day. The league was different compared to now. Jokic is good but he doesn’t wow me in anyway. When i see the number 15 in Denver I think of melo. Mind you im in my mid late 30s . Melo was a bad mf offensively fr score from all levels on the court and create anything he wanted
Denver left the number available, because they didn't intend to retire it for Melo, especially after he demanded a trade. Jokic got the number he always wore. Nobody knew how good he would turn out to be when they gave him the number. Frankly, I don't believe they even thought about Melo by that point.
Nikola Jokic's jersey was #15 since he was drafted in 2014. If Jokic wasn't remotely close to the success he is today, Melo wouldn't be making a big deal about this at all. And it wasn't like the Nuggets were fortune tellers who could accurately predict Jokic's meteoric rise and value to the franchise. They recognized his potential, and then things panned out in everyone's favor. I'd rather see both #15's up on the Denver rafters, having grown up in Denver and admiring Melo, while taking pride in the championship Nuggs we have today, led by Jokic. Accr. to Sporting News: "Jokic wears No. 15 for the most Jokic reason ever. According to The Athletic's Nick Kosmider, Jokic chose the number when he was on a youth team in Serbia. He was the biggest kid on the team and No. 15 was the biggest jersey available."
Nobody knew Jokic was gonna be who he was. He was drafted during a Taco Bell commercial😂. Melo was reaching when he said that they gave him 15 to erase what he did
Melo’s biggest downfall was being drafted with Lebron and D Wade and thinking that he is the same caliber player. He was great and a hall of farmer, but he’s not even in D Wade’s class let alone a top-20 all timer. He lost the number by forcing his way out of Denver (regardless of whether they were rebuilding).
Is Melo developmentally disabled? The Nuggets didn't expect their second round pick in 2014 to be an all-star much less to be the best player in the league for the last 3 years. Even if they did know that, why would they keep that number from him? It's too stupid to believe this came out of that man's mouth.
Jokic joined the nuggets while Carmelo was still in the league. What were the nuggets supposed to do? Retire his number as soon as he demanded a trade? No. Tough shit, truly sorry
First of all Melo ain’t do nothing in Denver. He ain’t bring no chips. So nobody give a dam bout retiring his #. He ain’t got 1 ring. 😂 joker got Denver they first championship! He’s the best to ever wear #15 for Denver. Point blank!
It’s simple: Jokic probably ask for #15, and they gave it to him. It’s not like he was their hot prospect. I think the Nuggets would have eventually retired his jersey, and maybe that’s why Melo is bitter.
Greetings from Serbia Clear information regarding the number 15 worn by Jokic, Jokic wore the same number 15 in the Mega Lex club, so if he could have taken it in Denver (as you said the number is not retired), why would he change the jersey number that is not used and which he carries his entire basketball career????
Huge Melo fan... can't agree with him here. What legacy of his are the Nuggets trying to erase? The 1 WCF appearance that him and Iverson had where they didn't do shit? Melo needs to cool it. He's nowhere near Jokic's level.

What does Melo stats have to do with anything Melo said? Melo is an NBA icon, shit, even as a kid in a country side little town I clearly remember my cousins having his posters on their walls and his NBA live Cover. Melo is a future HoF. Melo will always be remembered by the Denver fans because they are going to acknowledge that someone who did some great things for their organisation, regardless of how it ended, has been inducted into the HoF and that is a part of not only basketball history but also the History of the Nuggets and Melo’s career. This whole jersey nonsense is ridiculous. To imply the Nuggets owe him something is ridiculous. He was made a millionaire multiple times over by the Nuggets and he gave the nuggets his skills in return. Given the racial undertones that surrounded Jokic last season this also came off as a “They gave the white boy my jersey number so they can erase me!” Type of argument which is also ridiculous. If Jokic came into the league and crashed out in 2 seasons Melo wouldnt have said “How dare the Nuggets give my jersey number to this bum!?”. There are many players who had significant impacts on franchises across the league who will never have their numbere retired because that is reserves for the top of the top or someone seriously significant to the org in the event of a death or tragedy.

Dude, i definitely didnt expect Nuggets thuggets to win back then. Fun team to watch, but they were going up against prime Spurs, Suns and Lakers with Kobe. And Melo as good as he was he was never considered the best player in the league. Meanwhile Jokic is 2x mvp (should be 3) and once his team got healthy he got a ring.

I was born and raised in Denver,Co and Melo was the reason I even got into watching basketball. He made the Nuggets fun to watch and became my favorite player. With that said, the way he left Denver left a sour taste in fans and the organizations mouths. He did a lot for the Nuggets, but to make Jokic change numbers isnt fair to Jokic. Melo was a good player, but Jokic is a great player. I think if Melo left denver in better terms we wouldnt even be having this arguement. The way Melo left he did it in a way where it felt like idgaf i just want out mentality. So to see him crying now about not retiring his jersey is kinda funny to me. He should just focus on having the Knicks retire his jersey, because the Nuggets wont be doing it lol
If you seen the actual video, he’s not crying. He felt a way once Jokic came on the court wearing 15 in general. It’s more about the organization having a nasty taste in their mouth compared to Jokic. Imagine a Magic player wearing 12 and that person going and winning a chip and two mvps and now you can’t retire Dwights jersey. That’s crazy. But look at that roster tho, no matter how bad of an organization the Magic is, nobody wears 12. That’s my point.

Very not on topic...but the video quality is amazing. You can really tell that you've put effort into the production of the podcast and it looks 10/10. Also guessing the upload is in 60FPS :)

Wanted out of Denver
Never achieved anything after leaving.
Denver owes Melo absolutely nothing. 15 will forever be Jokic in that town.
RUclips's Pavlovian Conditioning has me always skipping the first segment of any RUclips video, with the assumption that the content creator is just wasting time and padding the runtime.
With that, I arbitrarily skipped to the 6 minute mark on this video, and that happens to be when the video really starts. Content creators are just garbage.
What did Melo even do?
Melo can only dream being a player Jokic is
The Nuggets knew Jokic was going to be this good, that's why they drafted him 41st, during a commercial.
I think even if they retired Melo's 15 before Jokic arrived, by this point if Jokic said to take it down and give me 15, Denver would do it.
Never seen so many ex-NBA players ganging up on a chill dominant player before. Like, grow up.
“What does a team owe you if you forced your way out of their franchise”? NOTHING! And Ty sir.
Imo there’s no drama. Nuggets should have protected the number, BUT there was no conspiracy. Nobody knew Jokic was going to be this amazing.
Stephen a picking up from where Shannon left off from with the great content🔥
Jokic is on another stratosphere to Melo. Melo was great in Denver but he never took them over the Hump. JOKIC did and he is a denver legend already
Good point to never be personal....bc theres no need for it. Very professional.
Thank you
Melo had like 3 or 4 all-star snubs on Denver. Consistently underrated.
he could have 10 , still not better than jokic
Accr. to Sporting News:
"Jokic wears No.
Melo was reaching when he said that they gave him 15 to erase what he did
Denver draft the Joker during a damn Taco Bell commercial. They didn’t know what he was gonna turn into.
You should have put Total Minutes Played on that graphic also. For 3 of those years jokic didn't even start 😂😂😂😂
In today's NBA, Carmelo would average 30 plus. Joker in the early 2000s would have way lower stats with the size of the NBA and the number of bigs
And he would still not win anything because he a looooosssseeerr babeeeeee
Melo’s biggest downfall was being drafted with Lebron and D Wade and thinking that he is the same caliber player. He was great and a hall of farmer, but he’s not even in D Wade’s class let alone a top-20 all timer. He lost the number by forcing his way out of Denver (regardless of whether they were rebuilding).
The Nate Rob bit doesn't make sense. Nate chose to step in the ring , he literally asked for it
Is Melo developmentally disabled?
Melo belongs in the Alex English/Bernard King/World Free conversation
Jokic will be in the Magic/Kareem/Bird conversation by the time he is done
I hate they gave jokic Melo’s number but they did and it’s his now. He’s the better player.
It’s simple: Jokic probably ask for #15, and they gave it to him. It’s not like he was their hot prospect. I think the Nuggets would have eventually retired his jersey, and maybe that’s why Melo is bitter.
Tbh it's more on the nuggets for not saving the Jersey but u can't be mad a Joker at all
There is no drama about the Jersey, Jokic is an NBA Champion. Melo is a loser, nuff said!
2 MVP Vs 0 MVP and a champ is all u need to compare
Melo was very good however you cant compare , Jokic is in another league imo.
Melo like that ex u wont block on social 😂

Greetings from Serbia
Clear information regarding the number 15 worn by Jokic, Jokic wore the same number 15 in the Mega Lex club, so if he could have taken it in Denver (as you said the number is not retired), why would he change the jersey number that is not used and which he carries his entire basketball career????
Huge Melo fan... can't agree with him here. What legacy of his are the Nuggets trying to erase? The 1 WCF appearance that him and Iverson had where they didn't do shit? Melo needs to cool it. He's nowhere near Jokic's level.
Realize how much of a casual you are. Why are you comparing Jokic and Melo? Did Melo compare himself to Jokic? Did Melo say anything negative about Jokic? Did Melo even really mention Jokic outside of saying the nuggets gave him the number? So what are you not agreeing with what did Melo say for you not to agree with? What does Melo stats have to do with anything Melo said? What does comparing Jokic career to Melos have to do with anything Melo said? lol you’re a casual who’s criticizing and going after Melo for imaginary media narratives lol btw Melo made the WCF with Billups not Iverson
@@youngmelo3717 What don't I agree with what Melo said? Let's see, maybe that the Nuggets are trying to erase his so called legacy in Denver by giving no. 15 to Joker. Made it pretty clear in my post. Melo giving you his Honey Nut Cheerios 🤣🤣🤣

@@CyrogenicNation Not petty at all, Melo left and was in the middle of his career. Nobody was thinking about a number "belonging" to a former player, he left and it was an available number.
@@youngmelo3717 Yeah! this dude is delusional. Nobody is expecting Melo to win anything.
I NEVER would've expected that trio to be more than a hot mess that sometimes might look good together. We never got to see it, though, cuz Iverson was traded for Billups, and McDyess.
