Hi there. Thanks for your valuable feedback and sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. This design was created by our engineers to better balance the user's opening and closing experience, and it has passed waterproof reliability tests. Most detachable components naturally have gaps. The product's protective performance is verified through reliability and waterproof tests. As long as you cannot see the red warning area through the gap in the cover, the product's waterproof performance is assured. However, We fully understand your concerns and know that everyone has different perceptions of force. If you feel that the cover is not tight enough and worry about the waterproof issue, we will contact you via email or DJI Forum if it is convenient for you. If you encounter any problems during subsequent use, you can contact us anytime. Please rest assured that we will handle it accordingly. Thanks for your great support and understanding.
@@rjfotovideo Hi, there. Thanks for your information. Kindly remind you open to check if everything is good when you have free time. Should you have further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
So I just slightly opened the door to where I could tell water would get in, then submerged it for several minutes, then opened the door fully and there was no water in there...
The USB-C door in my Action 5 is also dangling a little bit like on your video, but I think the gap is within of the red protection rubber inside or how @highchiller supposed the door is an extra protection. I dived up to 5 meter with my Action 5 without any (even the default) protection case for 10-20 times this season and it's completely ok, no any leakage or something,
I'm curious if the door came off for you because mine came off and I had to pull the catch mechanism out to get it to attach back. It pulled out quite easily but now I can open the door without pressing the button. This is a design flaw. If water gets in when you put it in a small amount, imagine taking this snorkeling, let alone diving. People say get a cage but I've never had to with my GoPro. I've taking it many times in the water and no water ever gets in. You can tell the seal on the GoPro as well as the Ace Pro 2 are much better quality. Other than that, the Action 5 is a good camera as far as image quality, etc.
Yes when I tried this before this video, I was surprised at how loose it was. This is what worries me the most, since it is so easy for the usb slot to not be completely closed. Because with greater water pressure, water will easily penetrate through. Also Fishycomics on youtube has demonstrated that water got into his camera, so it proves that this is something that should have been fixed as soon as possible. I have never dipped my Action 4 in water, but they have often been splashed with water and dipped in snow without anything happening.
I'm sorry to hear that. I can recommend to contact DJI about it with either create a ticket on their page or email them. I actually will get a replacement door now.
I already thought that something was not quite right there. I also have the problem that the door comes off easily, but I have not been underwater with it yet. Do all models have this problem?
Hi. I received mine yesterday and if I put force, then it behaves like your action 4 (It slides a bit creating a small gap where the nail can not get inside but not opening at all). Is that ok for me ?
For me it sound like yours is fine, but don't quote me on that. Also be careful putting it in water and I can recommend to buy DJI care refresh so you will have a "warranty" that will cover it for a small fee. I actually still don't feel safe with mine with the new door on.
Good video! I thought I only the one who notice this, yeah I feel worries too, the door is too much fragile if compare to my OA1. But, yesterday I tried yo use in underwater but still use the cage case and so far no leaked. Anyway, please keep the update if DJI has responded you.
We are actually many that have this problem now when we all have been aware of it. It is so sad that they did this bad manufacture of the first batch of usb-covers. Like I said in the video, I don't go diving. Buy I tend to bury my cameras in snow by accident and will never feel safe with my OA5 with this door on. I will make a follow up video if/when I get a respons from DJI or from where I bought the camera from that I also contacted about this. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I mean, good video. But not putting it under water to acutally test if this is an issue is kind of stupid. What if the USB-C port is waterproof und and the door is just additional redundant help? (phones with USB-C ports are also often waterproof even though the ports are exposed).
I tried after I posted this video to contact DJI, but on their homepage it is quite impossible to get in touch with them with the chat agent and so on. And if I send a repair request they want us to return the camera. So waiting for reply on DJI forum to see. I will not send in the camera since it is just the door that is the problem.
I never put any cameras directly into water, but where I live with a lot of snow etc. it often get buried and then I feel most safe if I know it can handle the snow melting after.
They have actually contacted me about this so in a few days I will get a new door in mail. Will make a follow up video about this issue, and I hope you also will get a new one. Can recommend open a ticket/case about this issue
If the usb port is waterproof, like on phones, there is no problem. I think dji knows what they are saying. If it should be a design problem, and water can get it and destroy your camera. What do you think they would do that costs less money. Give a new door or replace all the action 5 products in warranty? I have the same problem with mine, contacted them, they say it was ok, I believe them.
I'm really sorry to hear that, hope you have DJI care refresh so you will be protected. But open a case about this since it is a well known problem, and send in your camera and hope you will get a replacement.
I would be careful if you check some other comments here now. Also DJI have contacted me so will get a new usb-c door very soon and will make a follow up video.

This also happens on mine. I contacted DJI and provided a video and they told me its normal. Totally ridiculous from DJI
Agree and they can't see how good Action 4 door is.

Is the sane action 3…. Damage
I never tested this with Action 3, but I remember the first Osmo Action was not water proof
You're worrying for nothing. No water will get into the connector. The part with the rubber seal is not moving anywhere.
I have this from other people on the forum with the same issue. Also they have got water inside on others units.
