The ending was beautiful. That's why Mr. Freeze is my favorite villain. He's not inherently evil. He's just a man who is desperate to save the woman he loves, at any cost. His quest was destroying the good man he once was, which Nora reminded him about. Nora: "Victor. This isn't you. I won't let you destroy yourself anymore. I wish I could've told you sooner." Freeze: "I don't want you to die, Nora." Nora: "Then let me live." This kind of marital interaction was brilliantly written and so emotionally charged. It should've been a side mission for the base game instead of DLC.
@@gaelcaballero6900 More like an anti-villain. His ultimate goal was noble and good-natured (curing Nora), but the means of trying to get there were almost always evil.
@@grimlockbat3954 Note that he does refer to Mr. Freeze either by his first name or just his last name. Like... every interaction in this series. Meanwhile the same can't be said with the three other villains I named, and more. And/or he does treat Victor differently from the others in his gallery of rogues. Well... of the ones that have some type of nickname they often go by.
You gotta love the mutual respect Batman and Mr. Freeze have for each other aside from the occasional fights every now and then. Batman knows that Mr. Freeze is a man of conviction, and Freeze feels the same about him.
thewb39 the fights in the comics are mostly the result Freeze’s need to steal diamonds in order to power his refrigerated suit! He’s also unique in four ways; one, he’s not motivated by an inflated ego, or greed, or even revenge, but a need to save the live of the woman he cherishes most! Two, he has a history of stopping in his tracks on his own, upon the realization that Nora would never approve of the morally questionable turns he takes. Three, he’s known to assist Batman when he sees it to be the logical course of action. Finally, he’s the only Batman villain who’s made himself at home in Arkham!
This DLC is an emotional touch for me that teaches how helping family is good in the end. Plus Batman and Victor's interactions are actually strengthened by Mutual Cooperation which is a very good trait for Characters like these and the ending is like how you find your true love in life.
Joe Humpston Well, Freeze is greedy if you think about it. He’s stealing diamonds for his personal use to save only one person, sounds pretty greedy to me. But, if you think outside the box, once Freeze cures Nora maybe he can share the cure with other people who have the same disease as her.
Well Bruce Wayne/batman knows how it feels to lose someone you love and you can't do anything about it (his parents). He also knows that victor is deep down not a bad man at all. He knows that victor has gone crazy with emotion that he will do anything to help his dying wife. He knows that victor only does what he does to help his wife. Victor (and batman) also know that Nora would not be approving of victor's behavior and his actions. And batman has in the past used that guilt to his advantage.
DJ Fela they actually does kinda happen in one of the mr freeze stories. I can't remember the name of it. Nora dies and victor has lost all hope and the reason to live. Until batman talks him into finishing his cure anyways to help other people because they both know that deep down that's what Nora would've wanted victor to do. And while working on his cure almost finishing it freeze gets kidnapped by penguin (I think)
After so many years, finally released and allowed to show her true feelings. Such a sad love story, yet very inspiring and thoughtful. Rocksteady have really outdone themselves, bravo.
Am I the only one who thinks, when Nora's time game, Victor quietly removed himself from his suit and laid down beside her, the two of them passing away together?
Kevin Allen I think that’s how he wanted to go out. Smiling contently knowing he’d be with her in the afterlife as he slowly slipped away. His final moments are of bliss and serenity.
He did die with her. He said "We won't have much time". He said WE as in the both of them. He most definitely passed away with her. Even Batman said to Alfred "We won't be seeing them again". Batman knows Mr Freeze and her will die together. Probably the best ending to Mr Freeze's story, he deserves peace
My personal idea of an epilogue for these two: A short 9 days later, Nora's condition had fully deteriorated. Her breaths were painful, her limbs sore and her fever uncontrollable. Victor could tell the end was almost upon her. So, he deactivated his suit's biomatrix, the life support shutting off. As he pulled himself out of the mechanical suit he'd wrapped himself in for years, he felt the room around him scorch his skin. Even though it was only 60°F, it felt like a desert to him. Victor pulled himself onto Nora's bed and pulled her close. "Victor, you-" "I lost myself long ago. You're my world, Nora. Only you." He curled his hand around her's and the two shared an embrace. About 54 hours later, police arrived due to an anonymous tip. They found the pair, holding each other together, a smile on both faces. As the coroner began cataloging the bodies and various bits and pieces of the room, one of the officers moved to the bodies. "I remember these guys from my old precinct. Shame he couldn't save her." As the story was released to the press the following day, James Gordon looked over the article with his morning coffee. "... in the end, Victor, I think you were a good man. Despite what you became, you were a good man." The criminals in the city all had varying ideas of Victor and his end. Cobblepot thought him soft, Dent thought he was a man of fairness, Nigma thought nothing of him, and Quinn simply cried. Through Gotham, snow began falling in the early November morning. Most joked it was a parting gift, a final cold embrace from the once Mr Freeze.
This is literally the closest thing to a happy ending for Mr. Freeze and it's still sad and heart breaking. He can never get a break no matter what comic book, tv show, video game or universe he's in.
+MarvelandDC379 It's bittersweet. All Mr.Freeze wanted, was to be with Nora till the end, but she would die first. Trying throughout the game and being Mr. Freeze he became a villain. Doing what he could to have her cured, so that they could die together naturally. He, at the end, realized that the time they had left was all the time they needed together. He took off the suit, which will kill him, accepting this fate. For it was the one he wanted all along.
Freeze: "I don't want you to die." Nora: "Then let me live." Of all the stories this game gave us, this one made me cry in the end. Nora and Freeze deserve a happy ending.
"I don't want you to die, Nora." "Then let me live." Literally the line that destroys me most. It's so emotional the way she delivers the line.. She's tired of being frozen. She just wants to spend her last days with the love of her life.. Really one of the most tragic Batman relationships. Another tragic one is Harvey's with his fiancée, Gilda. No happy endings for either pairs.
The pain in his voice when he said “I don’t want you to die Nora….” 😢😢😢 Same thing I said to my ex fiancé who died of cancer. Her name was Anna. It sucks. Such a beautiful ending.
Nikita Ivachtchenko they made mr freeze into a tragic figure in the animated series but joel schumacher made him into a guy who drops ice related puns in his dialogue...
Hes my favorite too....hes far from a villain like the others but a tragic tale of someone with good intentions being denied what they wanted what they loved. So when its taken from them and are left changed in such a drastic way the only thing left is hate that stays. He already lost everything he loved so whats death to a man with nothing to gain but more pain. Sorry for the rhyming after watching the Mad Hatter video its got me doing it. XD Seriously though, atleast this one kinda ends better then how Victor goes in Batman Beyond.
"I can only beg your forgiveness me, and pray you hear me somehow, at someplace where a warm hand waits for mine." Goodbye, Victor. I wish we could have done more. If only there was more time for both of you.
@@TheSimmus Seeing Ra's in that mission, I could understand why he stated that he was afraid of what would come back out of the pit in Arkham City. He has used it so long and so often that he actually seems to almost be starting to resemble Grundy in a sense. Even if one chooses the option to save him, can it be said that he will be able to rebuild the league even if he wins their civil war? He may very well tear the whole organization apart in his madness. That aside, the story of Victor Freeze and Nora is such a tragedy. In the end more then a decade of work on his part was wasted and Nora was unwilling to let him destroy himself trying to save her. I suppose that once she dies, he will die too. She is his one reason for living. This is the end of their story and I am glad that Batman left them in peace. Goodbye Victor Freeze, Nora Freeze and for whatever it is worth I am sorry it had to end this way. Then again, I suppose a lot of things are coming to an end in this game so why not one more just to twist the knife in further. I guess that fits.
This DLC was amazing but too me it highlights how in the base game none of the villains were given a proper conclusion. If every villain in Arkham Knight had a conclusion like this it would be one of the best games ever made.
I really felt that this was the conclusion that Mr. Freeze deserved. Most villains may not get a happily-ever-after, but Freeze got what he deserved: a happily-ever-after with the woman of his life. May Nora Friez rest in peace, and may Mr. Freeze become a better man for her.
GabeShadow666 He never turned off his suit. He just slid away the glass covering in order to speak more clearly to Nora. At least, that's what I think. Those days together will probably make Freeze into a better man. Maybe working with Robin to fight against crime in Gotham.
Uh, except Freeze needs the suit to live. Taking off the visor is basically the equivalent of removing your oxygen helmet while in deep space or underwater.
GabeShadow666 Not really. He's been clearly seen in the Arkhamverse to be able to survive prolonged periods outside his suit with special cryogenic chemicals. Considering that the visor is for protection against not only the elements that he can no longer feel, but also in combat, those glowing tubes running along his suit supply enough coolant chemicals to his body to keep it alive in the temperatures he was experiencing at the time this game takes place.
***** Except Mr. Freeze was suffering when he was stripped of his suit during City assuming he doesn't have the special coolant device inserted in his body. Very doubtful Arkhamverse Freeze would want to outlive Nora even if their reunion lasts for a few days.
This is one of the saddest endings to a Batman story/mission. I love how Victor and Nora are finally back together, but it broke my heart to hear that she only had a few days to live.
Yeah Victor probably took his suit off to feel the touch and warmth of his wife in his last few days. At least him & Nora had a somewhat happy ending, usually Mr Freeze just gets done dirty in all batman media and we never get to see Nora speak or interact with Victor either
@@theflyingpancake3030 there's one thing that I honestly do not understand about this. Nora was put into cryostasis before she even knew who Batman was how the hell did she know him when she came out of cryostasis? I mean unless she overheard several conversations between her husband and Batman. It's just kind of confusing and I feel like it's a plot hole.
White Devil Rants I haven’t played Arkham Origins. Is that addressed in that game? Because Arkham Knight says she’s been frozen for a decade and I believe Bruce has been Batman for longer than that.
Well done Rocksteady. This is the most compelling ending to the Mister Freeze story that I have ever seen. There could simply be no happy ending for them. Looking at both of their states there was nothing that could be done. One can't live without his machine and the other doesn't have the cure to her disease. I applaud this brilliant conclusion to the Mister Freeze story arc in the Arkham games. Thank you for giving the best ending that could be given to a character like this. I appreciate it.
I haven't been liking any of the DLC but this one in particular is little bit more interesting I have to admit. I wish it had done more but I have admit that was not bad end for this story of the character in the Arkamverse. After all it is Mr. Freeze. How can you go wrong?
It shows you how human Mr. Freeze still is. He still has a heart. Even though Victor can't stop Nora from dying now, maybe they can make every last minute count.
I don't want you to die Nora, then let me live... :'[ clearly this side story of the DLC was meant to be part of the original feels package rocksteady forgot to mention...
@String Cheese Yes i know. But problem is that i cant save game from last chekpoint. While playing the game, save me where I left off last time. And when I get out of the game, then that last save doesn't exist and I can't continue where I left off.
A very, very emotional gameplay. In my point of view, Mr. Freeze never is a villain, he is a tragic character. He did all of these just for his wife and to save her. I feel that Batman understands Mr. Freeze's situation very well, and that's why he is somehow kind to Mr. Freeze. In the Arkham series Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy (only in Arkham Knight) just show us how human they still are. It is super sad for me that Arkham series is going to end. I really enjoy all four games and the walkthrough by this wonderful channel. Probably the best Batman video games ever. By the way, as Fries removes the protection from his helmet, does it mean he is going to die soon?
+Ka Kiu Chan I feel the same. Mr. Freeze is my second favourite villain in comics (only after Scarecrow) purely because I barely view him as a villain, and he is in no way evil. And yes, Freeze is going to die with Nora, without access to constant negative temperatures his body will shut down, it may even be painful for him; he describes room/hot temperature(s) as causing "searing pain all over" and that "every breath ignites his lungs" but that's the power of his love for Nora. He'll live through that to be with her.
BrickStudios 105 He is! I mean, unlike Riddler, Two-Face, or the Penguin, he’s not motivated by greed, or revenge, or a stupidly inflated ego. Much rather, by a need to save the love of his life!
19:03 "Let them go. We won't see them again." Am I the only who thought that line was delivered... idk not heartfelt or maybe lazily? Great DLC nonetheless!
+Hanna H I'd strangle the voice director or voice engineer responsible for taking that take. I'm pretty sure it's one of those "Kevin did that line at least six different ways, and the engineer took the crappy take" type of scenarios.
Really loved this DLC considering how it was a Swan Song for all of the different Batman villains included. My only complaint was that none of the other villains got the treatment that these four did, and really should've. Anyways, great DLC, and is an amazing way to end an amazing francise.
bro your 100% right I always felt there was more to twofaces and penguins story other than oh here we go jail again they need to end the the story's of the characters like a book
+Daniel Medina I think either Rocksteady took the complaints to heart about how the major villains were throwaways, or since they had more time with these four that they decided to give their stuff a bit more uniqueness.
+Colin Preston I actually would have liked to see how Ivy's life would have turned out had she lived. She is my most hated villain in the Batman series, apart from the Joker, but seeing how she sacrificed herself to save Gotham, she should have lived to the end, seen that Batman is Bruce Wayne, seen that he is truly legend. And have the strength to give up her vile life.
Man, the intricacies of this whole interaction were just amazing. The entire mission from beginning to end was just heartbreaking. To see another man struggling as much, if not more, than Batman - to see these two men who were once enemies come to terms, to see Freeze stare down the barrel at Batman with pause and regret as Batman offers himself, only to lower his gun and beg for Bruce's help knowing Bruce will give it no matter what... and for Bruce, despite everything Victor has done and everything Bruce has faced that night, to still offer his help, and at the end see Victor and Nora off together on their final journey. Man...that was mindbogglingly sad and probably one of my favorite moments in this awesome game.
This is one of my favorite missions from Arkham Knight and i admire Mr Freeze so much because he is not a villain and he only want to cure his wife . Maurice LaMarche did a fantastic voiceperformance as Mr Freeze and he is close to Michael Ansara from Batman TAS :)
timing and time that line takes place, plus circumstances , jupiter is eclipsing Uranus....y'know what it was a one in a million chance and Freeze hit the jackpot, k? XD
@@lonelyclaw and besides, you need to choose the girl with incurable disease (cancer for example) whose wants to freezed and saved. Only by this condition Victor's trick will work.
Bart Allen Don't get me wrong. I love that character and he has a lot of potential to be excellent. I was hoping an Arkham game would flesh him out and really delve into his brilliant mind. For some reason he was made into a glorified Trophy Award.
That was the entire point. Yes, he's brilliant. But his ego is what rules his mind, and it's what keeps him from REALLY becoming an actually threatening villain. Case in point, when you fight him for the last time, before Catwoman runs interference, you're cornered. You can't damage him as long as that force field is active, the field only comes down when all of the robots are out of commission, and you can't hit the robots because they'll shock you. Game, set, match. Thing is, Riddler only got to that point by basically saying "Screw my pride, I WANT HIM DEAD." and designing a trap that Batman wouldn't see until it's too late- one that's completely "unfair". They did flesh out his character- by deconstructing it.
At first I was sad that there wasn’t another amazing Mr. Freeze fight like the one in Arkham City. But then I remembered, Batman and Freeze’s story arc isn’t about them fighting, it’s about them cooperating. Though this mission is pretty short, I absolutely love it as a conclusion. A bittersweet end to Freeze’s story in the Arkhamverse.
This was so emotional. You can see Victor's humanity so much in here. the last scene had me in tears 17:36 . She is sick but it's so nice to see her awake and with him
@@FischerFilmStudio threatening him was something he could deal with.... in fact he had...but anything that threatened his research or Nora...then you were screwed. Remember...Freeze was never really overly antagonistic with batman ( freezing him only stalled him and Freeze knew this, he could've killed him any multitude of times, yes , yes plot armor and all , but Feeze doesn't know what the audience knows XD) who HAD threatened him. But upon the realization what was Freeze's motivation Batman became more sympathetic and willing to help Freeze if and when he could.
I'm glad Victor and Nora have finally been reunited after so long. In the ending scene when they finally left Gotham for good it really made me cry. Let's hope they live happily ever after until they both pass away at the same time.
Of all the versions of Mr. Freeze, this is probably the best one, right behind the animated series version of him. Like in Batman the animated series, he was just a man trying to save his wife's life, not just becoming a villain for the hell of it. Then, in Arkham City, he was blackmailed by Joker, only to be stripped of everything by Hugo Strange and given to the Penguin for show. He then made an Alliance with his arch enemy, Batman, attempted to black main him to get his wife, which Batman did any way out of the sheer goodness of his heart, and now has to ask Batman to save her again, but now she wants to live what little life she with Victor, and Victor is willing to die with her. That's some of the most emotional storytelling in any Batman medium. I'm gonna miss Rocksteady's style of story telling.
This story caught me off guard...I thought it was just a retrieval mission but when Nora woke up I knew this was gonna have me in tears and at the end...I was correct....Rocksteady really did the love between Nora and Victor justice....Victor is an antihero, only goal is to save someone he loves at all costs, no matter the consequence.
when you are cryogenically frozen you do not age at all because you ageing process has been completely halted. Since Nora was however old she was when victor froze her, when she finally is freed from being frozen she is still however old she was at the start of being frozen and her aging process has been restarted. So you could be say 30 years old when you was cryogenically frozen and stayed frozen for I don't know say 300 years, when you are thawed out you are still 30 years old.
+Reeta Singh Track for Ace Chemicals ending is Inner Demon from Arkham Knight Volume 1 soundtrack. However, the soundtrack you are looking for is "All Who Follow You" from Volume 1 as well
+GabeShadow666 I know about the track... It's just that when that soundtrack played in Ace Chemicals, it made that scene legit tense. And here it enhances the scenes really well. Rocksteady knows how to set up some fantastic cinematics
I would love to see a Mr. Freeze story in a future Batman movie. He's such a compelling antagonist, you can't help but root for him. With an ending like this in a feature film, the theaters would be flooded with tears.... But, you know, not from me. I didn't cry, you cried.
the legend 69 I guess what you saw there was just one of the ice-sculptures of her that Freeze had in his lab! Although, the silhouette you see in her cryo-chamber, does resemble her in this game!
PublicEnemy-1 Joker: So, what killed the dinosaurs? Oh, that's too easy. The ice age! Ha ha! Oh, that joke never gets old. Gee, is it cold in here, or is it just me? Oh, it's just you!
also, did anyone notice how Batman is portrayed as more ... human as the games went on?? (even though he is still acts in his distant and intimidating look) in Arkham Asylum, even though he knows and studies his enemies, he acted way too calm, way too .... perfect. like nothing ever surprises the guy or ever hurt him (even in AC he was like this ... kinda) But in Origins, and especially in AK, he still managed to retain his intimidating look but managed to be protrayed more ...human, more 'just-as-fragile-and-human-just-like-the rest-of-us' instead of being too perfect but still a clear badass that way, Batman really did feel like he pushed himself to be where he is instead of just being TOO prepared for anything.
The sad thing is, Victor might still end up like in the Batman Beyond animated series. Unless he lets himself die, he might stay alive for many more years after the death of Nora. He might live to become mad and try to make everybody feel the loss he feels, only to be be reasonned by Batman at the last moment, and maybe before killing himself. Yet I suppose it's not the ending Rocksteady would want for him, so he's more likely going to shut down his cryo-life-support and die with Nora. Not sure that he actually did it at the end when he opened his helmet.
+GabeShadow666 I guess, yeah. But I'd still like to see the tragedy of Fries like it was in the animated series where Nora was lost to him. In the animated movie Sub-zero, and in the following episodes of the animated series and Batman Beyond, Nora is cured by the Wayne Foundation and she goes away to live the rest of her live, while Victor ends up pretty much as a bitter immortal unable to die without killing himself. The feels I got in the DLC were *nothing* compared to the ones I still get by watching the Batman Beyond episode "Meltdown".
+goblinounours Problem is there would be complaints of it repeating itself. Rocksteady at least tries to put its own take on things. Coming from someone who saw both Sub-Zero and the Batman Beyond episode, I really wasn't a big fan of Mr. Freeze remaining a villain after Nora was supposedly cured, period. Mr. Freeze living as long as he did also really stretched it thin as well.
+GabeShadow666 I agree that him becoming a bad guy after Sub-zero wasn't a good idea. The idea that the loss of Nora and the deterioration of his condition brought him to attack randomly people who "had things to lose" was far-fetched. A lot of episodes of that part of the animated series where they changed the art-style weren't really good. However, the way they changed Batman into a silent and darker himself was pretty nice. In the recent Batman Beyond comics, they even expanded on the events of the show, explaining the Bruce actually was a big douchebag even to Dick and Barbara (he even got her pregnant just to spite Dick). Anyway, the idea of the Batman Beyond Meltdown episode was pretty good, I think. When I was a kid, first time I saw it, I shat a brick, and to this day, the soundtrack used for the moment of his death is still on my computer. But you're right, I guess, it'd be bad if they just repeated that kind of scenario. Still, I must say, the thing that disappointed me with the Season of Infamy was that, even a few weeks ago, I thought it would be set AFTER the Knightfall Protocol. I thought we would finally get to know the fate of Bruce. Rocksteady can't leave the Batman franchise like this, it's a dick-move. In the latest "Arkham Insider", they kinda toyed with us, asking Sefton Hill if they'd do something else with Batman, and he kinda joked and avoided a clear answer which either means "yes" or "no, but let's fuck with the viewers".
I love that after all these years of trying to kill each other and helping each other out from time to time, they speak to one another so csusally. Batman even stopped calling him "Freeze" and just calls him Victor
What a great ending to a truly almost Shakespearean love story. I have been a fan of Paul Dini's Victor Fries since I first saw the premiere of The Heart of Ice on Batman: TAS back in 1992. Oddly, fate would play a sardonic hand in my life to where I could truly empathize with Freeze. When I was young, (Not very long after Heart of Ice debuted) I met a girl who was, well, my soulmate. Unfortunately, I was also in the grip of my own potentially terminal illness, Alcoholism, and dealing with the royal mental screw job my previous ex -The Psycho Manic Depressive Cutter from Hell - had visited upon me during our breakup. And it was because of this disease and these pent up feelings of anger that I lost this girl. I spent over a decade trying to find her again so I could tell her how much I missed her and what lengths I would go to be with her again. But try as I might I could never seem to find her or fix things. Years of dead ends and close-but-no-cigar near misses weighed heavily, along with enough booze to float Freeze's boat. In the end I gave up, met someone else and moved on. But I always kept up with Freeze's story. And when Arkham City rolled around with again Dini as one of the writers I knew Freeze would be given his due and was not disappointed. Then, WB Montreal contributed the very fine retelling of Victor's origins with Cold, Cold Heart. But when I heard that Arkham Knight didn't have Freeze in it's debut I was greatly disappointed. If anybody could get his final chapter right it would be Rocksteady, I thought. I was never a big fan of the way the Animated Series handled Victor after Sub-Zero, but I understand that was more the wishes of the Fox execs than any real desire on the writers' part. In any event when I heard the news of Season of Infamy and Victor and Nora's appearance therein I was more than excited. And I wasn't let down. That ending is like a kiss on the cheek while getting kicked in the gut. And that's a good thing. When you can reduce a 43 year old ex punk rocker to tears you've done a damn good job, guys. Victor's Redemption. Sometimes doing what is right is more important than doing what is possible. And, to quote the late Lt. Commander Data: "If I may employ an aphorism, One Cannot Cheat Fate." Fate and Time are complex, often cruel mistresses. Take my long lost love. I found her again you see, a couple of months ago on Facebook. And as it turned she had in fact missed me as much as I missed her. But Time has lost us both. While I am now sober, have been going on five years, I'm also married with a son. I have a whole nother life now. I was able to tell her the things I so wanted to tell her, say the things I longed to say. And she felt the same. But in the end we both knew I had to do what was right over what was possible. She will always be my friend now and will remain in my life as long as Fate and Time will allow. And I was able to find the closure I wanted. But the feeling will always be bittersweet. In the end Bats was also able to see one of the things he so longs for on this fateful All Hallows Eve. The reformation of several of his former adversaries. Because much like Jigsaw in the Saw movies is always hoping one of his test subjects will survive their game and "learn" from it, Batman is always hoping that there just may be good deep down in everyone.
This was definitely the most emotional part of the game. I like how even Batman and Alfred realize how wronged Victor was. (like when Alfred said "make them regret it, sir"). Out of all Batman's foes he probably treats Victor the best because Bruce understands what it's like to lose someone you love. It was really sad at the end to know that Nora was accepting her fate and staying out of the cryochamber. As far as story narrative goes this was the best mission in the DLC.
That was honesty an amazing way to end Freeze's story it's somewhat happy in a way but tragic. One thing for sure about Mr. Freeze he was never going to have a truly happy ending to his tale. Whether Nora lived or not he's stuck the way he is. His ending in Batman: The Animated Series kind of showcased that. Here at least he gets to be happy again if not just for a little while. I don't know which version of his story I prefer to be honest. This is the ideal whereas the show is a something of a punch in the gut with a tragic reality. Regardless the way Rocksteady and WB Montreal handled Freeze both gameplay wise as well as story is one of the best thing about this series.
+hiimchrisj I honestly prefer this ending. At Freeze will die beside his wife unlike the hamfisted "Nora moved on without me, so I'll remain a villain" angle the Animated Series and comic-verse pulled..
GabeShadow666 Well to be fair I never took it as "oh she moved on I must remain a villain". He left her because he couldn't bare to let her see him the way he was he remained a villain because he lived a sad lonely existence loathing humanity and like I said he's destined for a tragic end which is why either one works for me but yeah I definitely agree I am leaning towards this version
This side of Batman toward Mr Freeze really make me proud to be fanboys of batman. Even toward enemy still there is 'human' inside that caped crusader. Not just angry kicking butt all bad guys, but kind people. Great story, great ending for Mr Freeze.
I love how the dynamic of Batman and freeze has evolved from the simple good guy, bad guy fight to both of them having mutual respect for the others work and trust in each others skill and talent
This is exactly what it's like being a caregiver for too long. It becomes your world and burnout gets so bad you give up on your own health, your life, and even society searching for anything to help and possibly cure the only person who ever loved you. And with most cases, you wake up to a no-win situation each day; and fight it with everything you have and more. Fatigue, depression, resentment, anger, poverty all take their toll. Mr. Freeze (this version) has my complete respect.
I get that this is just a game, but my heart literally breaks for Victor and Nora. There are so many couples like this in real life. If you’re reading this, I wish you and the person you love a long, beautiful life together.

@@nightslasher014 the hush side mission was a waste but good voice acting by Kevin

I wish I could've told you sooner."
Freeze: "I don't want you to die, Nora."
Nora: "Then let me live."
This kind of marital interaction was brilliantly written and so emotionally charged. It should've been a side mission for the base game instead of DLC.

AGuyWithGames He's a person.
@@grimlockbat3954 He does refer to the Scarecrow and the Riddler by name on occasion. Same with the Penguin.
@@Techhunter_Talon I decide to change my mind.
He also calls Dent to Two Face
Expander Only the new how to bring his story to a close.
I thought that, until I saw the deathstroke fight.

Am I the only one who thinks, when Nora's time game, Victor quietly removed himself from his suit and laid down beside her, the two of them passing away together?
Kevin Allen I really don't think so since he's basically in his ship that has the cold temperature and I think he'll be in the sequel by montreal
Koba It will be a sequel to Arkham Orgins but a prequel to the main trilogy
@The RPGAdventurer That's a different cannon from the Arkham games.
Time has never been on our side victor...
damn that tugged right at the heartstrings
Nora is unfrozen and now this story is compete.
Horenramon But realising that she will die soon just hurts like hell
Emmanuel Naicker Victor will die as well. He turned off the suit, which allows him to live due to being exposed to freezing chemicals.
No it relentlessly ripped out my heart strings, the first and to this day , I have never cried over a videogame
And they played "Inner Demons" too
My personal idea of an epilogue for these two:
A short 9 days later, Nora's condition had fully deteriorated.
"Victor, you-"
"I lost myself long ago.
Shame he couldn't save her."
As the story was released to the press the following day, James Gordon looked over the article with his morning coffee.
"... in the end, Victor, I think you were a good man. Despite what you became, you were a good man."
The criminals in the city all had varying ideas of Victor and his end. Cobblepot thought him soft, Dent thought he was a man of fairness, Nigma thought nothing of him, and Quinn simply cried.
Through Gotham, snow began falling in the early November morning. Most joked it was a parting gift, a final cold embrace from the once Mr Freeze.
That's a good idea.
Really good
That was beautiful man 🥲
Fuck that’s good……
I shed a little tear reading that
"I love you, Nora."

Well sub zero has a happy ending
MarvelandDC379 except the universe where he never becomes mr freeze
Its true, its the closest thing to peace and happiness hes going to get really. After so much pain and suffering hes got some peace in this ending.
MarvelandDC379 mr freeze died
"I don't want you to die Nora"
"Then Let me Live"
Excuse me i have to go cry my eyes out
Freeze: "I don't want you to die."
Nora: "Then let me live."
Of all the stories this game gave us, this one made me cry in the end. Nora and Freeze deserve a happy ending.
+DarthDregan It sounded like you wanted this DLC mission to be a loose adaptation of the movie, Subzero.
No. Everyone deserves a happy ending. Even the bad guy.
Yeah, I got choked up and misty-eyed at this one.
They deserve whatever time they’ve got left together
After what the Corrupted Gotham Government put those two through, they deserve this much.
"Cold cold heart" was an awesome beginning, "In from the cold" is a beautiful ending.
totally
True, one of the best suits.
Agree, Cold Cold Heart was phenomenal.
+Evil Bruce Wayne (Hush)
So true.
+Sam Burke Knight has mostly positive ratings.
"Don't you see? I don't want saving! Not anymore."
"I don't want you to die, Nora." "Then let me live."
This dialogue makes me cry every time.
Finally, after so many years of Nora simply being Frozen in the background in all media, she finally has a speaking role in something.
I know right! I was playing this with a friends and when Nora melted I was like, 'fuckin finnaly!' I also loved the ending.
In the comics amd animated series she wakes up and speaks
jashard wallington she even became a villain by the name of Lazara, named after the Lazarus Pit, when Fries dipped her into it.
@@jashardwallington which episode of the animated series
She also gets unfrozen in the Harley Quinn animated series.
The pain in his voice when he said “I don’t want you to die Nora….” 😢😢😢
Same thing I said to my ex fiancé who died of cancer. Her name was Anna. It sucks. Such a beautiful ending.
I’m so sorry to hear that. May she RIP

Lmao
Freeze always was one of my favourite Batman villains. Glad he got the best treatment.
Nikita Ivachtchenko they made mr freeze into a tragic figure in the animated series but joel schumacher made him into a guy who drops ice related puns in his dialogue...
What is your opinion on Arnold Schwarzenegger
Nikita Ivachtchenko favrite
Hes my favorite too....hes far from a villain like the others but a tragic tale of someone with good intentions being denied what they wanted what they loved. So when its taken from them and are left changed in such a drastic way the only thing left is hate that stays. He already lost everything he loved so whats death to a man with nothing to gain but more pain. Sorry for the rhyming after watching the Mad Hatter video its got me doing it. XD
Seriously though, atleast this one kinda ends better then how Victor goes in Batman Beyond.
LET'S KICK SOME ICEEEEEEEEEEEEE
"I can only beg your forgiveness me, and pray you hear me somehow, at someplace where a warm hand waits for mine."
Goodbye, Victor. I wish we could have done more. If only there was more time for both of you.
Me too... but wouldn't he just bring her back with the Lazarus pit?
Alexander Judkins One would imagine that a genetic disease would be too much, even for the Lazarus Pit to handle
No. They tried that in the comic. She became the insane Lazara
@@alexanderjudkins3885 after seeing Ra's in his Side mission...I don't think anyone would want their loved one even near that pit
If every villain in Arkham Knight had a conclusion like this it would be one of the best games ever made.
yeah, But i think the most emotional base games-side mission is that Man Bat ones where Langstrom lose his wife. Just my opinion!
Atleast they could've given the Arkham Knight a proper conclusion, seeing him save batman for a split second is not good enough for me
SpinKing69 yeah jason should have got one final conversation with bruce
+MrRushhour4 I think that conclusion of Ivy was really good. Sad, but good.
+SpinKing69 He becomes the Red Hood.
I really felt that this was the conclusion that Mr. Freeze deserved. Most villains may not get a happily-ever-after, but Freeze got what he deserved: a happily-ever-after with the woman of his life. May Nora Friez rest in peace, and may Mr. Freeze become a better man for her.
+NagandEmerald At least death won't do them part especially since Freeze turned off his suit after Nora's lecture.
Victor too. He likely removed his suit.
@@FireLordJohn3191 I think his suit also got destroyed.
@@LikeAChameleon In the last scene it looks like he turned his suit off. I believe that when Nora dies, Victor follows
@@tanya-789 maybe they get the second chance in the other side
Yeah Victor probably took his suit off to feel the touch and warmth of his wife in his last few days. At least him & Nora had a somewhat happy ending, usually Mr Freeze just gets done dirty in all batman media and we never get to see Nora speak or interact with Victor either
Mr. Freeze is not really a villain...he is more a victim.

@@theflyingpancake3030 there's one thing that I honestly do not understand about this.
This is a great story ending for the two. Reminds me of the animated version
I haven't been liking any of the DLC but this one in particular is little bit more interesting I have to admit. I wish it had done more but I have admit that was not bad end for this story of the character in the Arkamverse. After all it is Mr. Freeze. How can you go wrong?

You are so right.

bro your 100% right I always felt there was more to twofaces and penguins story other than oh here we go jail again they need to end the the story's of the characters like a book
+Daniel Medina I think either Rocksteady took the complaints to heart about how the major villains were throwaways, or since they had more time with these four that they decided to give their stuff a bit more uniqueness.
+Daniel Medina +Hakeem Rowe I agree with both of you. With Batman gone, the other villains should have had endings that allow them to move on.
Colin Preston exactly
Will I think the game producers intended to making riddler annoying since he's always Bragging about how intelligent he is.
Right he is in all of them I always get him last

@@EmptyMan000 Freeze never really threatened lives.
@@FischerFilmStudio threatening him was something he could deal with.... in fact he had...but anything that threatened his research or Nora...then you were screwed. But upon the realization what was Freeze's motivation Batman became more sympathetic and willing to help Freeze if and when he could.
Yeah. Batman started sympathizing with Freeze in Origins after he knew the truth. Victor even said, "I have no quarrel with you."
I'm glad Victor and Nora have finally been reunited after so long. In the ending scene when they finally left Gotham for good it really made me cry. Let's hope they live happily ever after until they both pass away at the same time.
This is what I wanted for every villain in the game. Actual CLOSURE.
This story caught me off guard...I thought it was just a retrieval mission but when Nora woke up I knew this was gonna have me in tears and at the end...I was correct....Rocksteady really did the love between Nora and Victor justice....Victor is an antihero, only goal is to save someone he loves at all costs, no matter the consequence.
for fucks sake... mr. freeze can't get it a break. his wife always getting kidnapped
All the more aggravating when you think that she's fucking froze over!
Johnny Rose Nora is dead anyway because he froze her for about 50 years and she asked 46 when he froze ger so she's dead
The point of freezing her is so that her condition doesn't progress. She isn't aging when frozen either.
when you are cryogenically frozen you do not age at all because you ageing process has been completely halted.
They used the same soundtrack in this one's cutscenes as in the Ace Chemicals destruction scene, which made the DLC much more amazing...

+GabeShadow666 I know about the track... It's just that when that soundtrack played in Ace Chemicals, it made that scene legit tense. And here it enhances the scenes really well.
Rocksteady knows how to set up some fantastic cinematics
17:19 the only time batman shows emotion in this game
Batman: Freeze!
Mr. Freeze: That's Mr. Freeze to you.
TiMeSpLiT- -TeR pretty shit joke but ok
Ice to meet you
this was the most heartwarming of them all. Ironically.
I would love to see a Mr. Freeze story in a future Batman movie. He's such a compelling antagonist, you can't help but root for him. With an ending like this in a feature film, the theaters would be flooded with tears....
But, you know, not from me.
I didn't cry, you cried.
in arkham city she looks like someone made a replica of a woman out of ice in the character bio
the legend 69 I guess what you saw there was just one of the ice-sculptures of her that Freeze had in his lab!

Oh, it's just you!
danny fonseca t4yry d u fb u gib jose8uiyuiuk hm uh Luo
cameronjr8 The fuck are you even talking about? hahah
PublicEnemy-1 It's a Joker hallucination when Joker talks about Batman's criminals.
Out of the villains, I think I sympathize with Mister Freeze the most. I'm sorry Victor, I miss my loved one too.
also, did anyone notice how Batman is portrayed as more ... human as the games went on?? (even though he is still acts in his distant and intimidating look)
in Arkham Asylum, even though he knows and studies his enemies, he acted way too calm, way too .... perfect. like nothing ever surprises the guy or ever hurt him (even in AC he was like this ... kinda)
But in Origins, and especially in AK, he still managed to retain his intimidating look but managed to be protrayed more ...human, more 'just-as-fragile-and-human-just-like-the rest-of-us' instead of being too perfect but still a clear badass
that way, Batman really did feel like he pushed himself to be where he is instead of just being TOO prepared for anything.
ending hit me hard man...hit me HARD...😢
At 18:11 the iceberg crushing into the water represents how Victors story in this series has come to an end.
So Nora going to die in a couple of days? That really sad
so will Freeze since he turned off the suit
+Brandon Jones (IMCLUSMY98) not really they get to be with each other.
It's so heartbreaking for those eternal snow immortals.
Nathan De la Cruz minus the immortal part
+Brandon Jones (IMCLUSMY98) Both of them will die; but at least they will be together in the end
+goblinounours He did turn off the suit when he opened his visor. After all, he said "days to live" and meant for the both of them.
+GabeShadow666
I guess, yeah.
+GabeShadow666
I agree that him becoming a bad guy after Sub-zero wasn't a good idea.
+goblinounours No, Freeze turned off his suit so that he'd die with Nora.
Commander Data: "If I may employ an aphorism, One Cannot Cheat Fate."
Fate and Time are complex, often cruel mistresses.
I love how batman just stands before someone and says : Shoot me, if you insist and then the one doesnt shoot
+Pajoslav Or when there's a massive explosion and batman doesn't move anything just stands and his cape flies
He's been through a lot. Being held at gunpoint won't faze him.
Seriously why the hell can't we get this in the movies? This was absolutely beautiful.
Batman: "Let them go. We won't see them again"
LMAO
+PranavanMVGC Hearing how dismissive Batman's voice is (and considering how Nora's going to die soon)....well damn...that's awfully cold Bats.
The way he said it tho😂😂😂
+Thinking Gamer I know, you'd think with Freeze gone Gotham would feel a little warmer, but they still have Batman's cold disposition.
+PranavanMVGC He's probably like "yea, they're both gonna die"
lmao i thought i was the only one who noticed that.
bats has no campassion whatsoever
hes ice cold ^_^
He never stopped loving his wife , even at the end.
Arkham Knight definitely has some story problems but this mission was absolutely perfect. Brought me to tears.
Well, at least they were together in the end.
Are we not gonna talk about the amazingly sad, yet awesome soundtrack throughout the emotional scenes in this mission?
Gotta say, that ending...
Definitely the best part of this DLC in my opinion. I'm still stunned and sad after that ending... Feel soooo sorry for Victor.
The song makes this more emotional 😭
I'm so happy Mr.Freeze finally got a happy ending. :,)
more like bitter sweet
Victor is probably the most tragic in Batman's Rogue Gallery.
"I don't want you to die, Nora."
"Then let me live."
There's something about that line that always makes my eyes water a little.
This side of Batman toward Mr Freeze really make me proud to be fanboys of batman. Even toward enemy still there is 'human' inside that caped crusader. Not just angry kicking butt all bad guys, but kind people. Great story, great ending for Mr Freeze.
farewell Arkham Videos you have been great to us, love your channel
+Andrew Reynolds I guess he has more to cover :)
+Tiago Goll G. Yeah. January DLC and finally Easter eggs video
+Sebastien Olibrice It's gonna be UGE!
Maybe Arkham Videos will move on to do other Batman games to come.
he has a gta channel
I love how the dynamic of Batman and freeze has evolved from the simple good guy, bad guy fight to both of them having mutual respect for the others work and trust in each others skill and talent
This is a Paul Dini quality story. Imagine this retrofitted into a BTAS episode. The feels and subsequent votes for an Emmy would be amazing.
i'm glad that MR. FREEZE is in this game and i'm glad that Nora is OK after arkham city
Well, she's still terminally ill and will die in a few days. But at least she gets to spend her final moments with her husband.
you are right
+LoflPlane81 At least death won't do the Fries part (i.e. both will die together.).
yeah
This was my favorite expansion mission. Victor Freeze has been through so much it was nice to see him and Nora together in the end
Am I the only one who though that, at the beginning of this recording, Alfred sounded like he had a mouthful of sandwich?
Haha same here man
edawg792
I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Hey, he's been sitting in that cave all night. He at least deserves thatn
Nikita Ivachtchenko
I swear that man should retire. That way he can eat sandwiches at his leisure; maybe in France, or the Caribbean.
8:20 "WHERE IS SHE" if he only he had the dark knight suit on...
“Let go of me!”
“Victor take them out! Victor now! VICTOR?!” Never heard Batman panic before like that, excellent performance from the cast here! Especially Kevin :)
Can we take a moment to appreciate how beautiful Nora is?
Indeed, why else would Mr. Freeze go through all the trouble for her?
@@arnowisp6244 Personality?
I get that this is just a game, but my heart literally breaks for Victor and Nora. There are so many couples like this in real life. If you’re reading this, I wish you and the person you love a long, beautiful life together.
Holy crap, I was *not* expecting there to be so many feels in this one. Looks like Rocksteady's done it again.
