Hey Jimmy, I switched all my crankbait hooks to INLINE single hooks. Because I got tired of treble hooks killing fish. Especially Pike which I frequently run into on Lake Champlain where I live. Big Smallmouth are also plentiful in this area. I've always followed the standard of using moderate action rod's with Treble hook baits but now that I'm using SINGLE INLINE hooks on these crankbaits I was curious what your thoughts are on rod action. I haven't noticed I'm losing more fish than usual so far. To be honest I've always felt I lose more than I should on crankbaits even when using Treble's. Especially these big powerful Smallmouth. But rather than using barbless hooks I was wondering what you think of using Single Inline's
Been watching you since I was a little kid in the 80's. I used to have to wait all week for your TNN Saturday / Sunday morning shows. You have no idea how much us kids learned from you. There was no internet where answers are now just giving (not learning). None of us were lucky enough to have a magazine subscription. We learned thru doing. And from watching your show(and Bill's, Hank's, Orlando's, Roland's). How much more fun you made this sport we already love. Love that you're still at it with as much enthusiasm as ever.

I think that’s a great idea. I like inline single hooks too, especially on pike and big smallmouth. You are right, the harder the fish pulls, the more you lose on trebles. In Argentina last year, I had several giant Golden Dorado hooked up on a big Topwater, that came unbuttoned. I finally talked the guide into switching to Single hooks Actually may have changed only one of em’! Can’t remember for sure. The first bite after that I hooked and landed a 48 pound Golden Dorado. The world record is 54 pounds so I doubt that many 48 pounds and more have been caught in a Topwater!!! The single hook made the difference. Thanks a bunch. May God Bless. jimmy

Jimmy called his glasses Polaroid glasses. For those that do not know, polarized glasses are not named after some scientific thing, even though the word polarized sounds scientific. Polarized glasses and lenes were created by Polaroid. They needed a name for their invention to patent it, so they called it polarized.
