FILM DESCRIPTION:
Parole officer Donald (Robert Christian) compels his foul-mouthed ex-con charge Joe Braxton (Richard Pryor) to escort a bus full of special education students from Philadelphia to the Pacific Northwest, where their teacher Vivian Perry (Cicely Tyson) plans to set up a new school. But when Braxton's latest attempt at going straight becomes a frustrating series of mishaps, he struggles to complete the job he was hired to do while resisting his growing affection for Vivian and the children.

They performed miracles there.
Only Richard Pryor could do this scene and be fantastically funny.
Better than, say, a couple years later, when he pretty much had a "scaredy-cat" vibe to a lot of the roles he played after this one, which got old very quick.
Pryor was the very one who wrote this scene (as well as the entire movie). Why am I not surprised?? That man was a genius!! Thank you so much, Richard. Rest peacefully.

I like that such hated people had some heart to help the man.
I know the guy lied but it is nice that two races that are somehow enemies just because of skin color in that state.

Most of them are lost and confused. only a small number mostly in leading roles are wicked and evil from the heart.
@@AO00720I always kinda figured that was the case. There were probably told since they were young by their fathers and other older people they look up to to hate black people and out of respect they're just doing what they're told.
It's just a movie. And most people of different races get along fine.
But there is a small group of knuckle heads that make everybody look bad.

I love this movie and only Richard Pryor could pull this scene off. He was the master despite his problems. I would like a moment to express how gorgeous Cicely Tyson is though. What a beautiful woman and such a great actress. When asked how she wanted to be remembered she said "I've done my best, that's all." class to the end and still so beautiful till the day she died.
Smart to mention Ray Charles name because he was one of the kindest Men to ever have lived that not even the Klan can hate on him. I know this is a movie and a work of fiction but I'd imagine that if something like this happened in real life that the Klan probably would have 0 problems with Ray Charles. His Music was very popular among everyone and he was a very kind Man. Not an expert on the Klan but i'd imagine that the people they have beef with would be rude people that fake hate cr!me hoaxes such as Lebron James and Juicy SmoIIett. Those are the people they'd probably have problems with.
And all he had to do was swiftly close the door behind him. 😂
