I'm looking to move over to Vancouver in Jan next year and videos like this (especially the one you did the other day breaking down costs of living in Van) is super helpful!
@@HarmonieV oh nice!! The first thing that comes to mind is how did you move from ontario to vancouver on the actual moving date? I have a few things o want to bring like my 3 screen computer setup for work, and I don't have a car. Did you hire a moving company or just packed a few suitcases and flew?
@@pobalex this is a great question! okay so when I moved, i drove with my boyfriend at the time & it was right after university, so my worldly possessions were slim to none. I would recommend selling off most furniture/ bigger items and rebuying everything out here. But if you have work setup (screens & stuff) i would say its better to ship that or pack it up as a fragile package & bring it as a carry on/ check it on your flight. You could also do a cross-canada moving company, but it think it would. be hella expensive, so it really depends on what kinda budget you're willing to spend :) I hope that helps!
@@HarmonieV thank you so much! Yeah I think it would be easier to just sell all my furniture, rather than trying to ship it here. I'm not sure how doable would it be to fly with my computer setup since it's easily over 50 pounds. maybe I can try to find someone willing to drive there with me (and back, yikes). thank you so much for your reply!
I've seen a lot of properties like that and I've determined that either the property managers are whack or the building is trash. It's a toss up, but always a red flag 🙅🏼♀️
Hi. I would like to see how neighborhood in south Vancouver like Marpole, Sunset, Little mountain, Victoria-Fraser look like A lot of VDO only talk about popular area like downtown, Kit, Olympic village and then they move to place like Burnaby, Surrey If your next VDO could cover that it would be fantastic. Thank you. Your fan who looking to move to Vancouver soon and struggling to find a place
I live on south van and have a main floor of a house 2 br with a big yard for less that $2000. With the money I saved rather than live in downtown, I saved for a car and couldn’t be happier. Downtown is super overrated.
I used to like Vancouver but not anymore, so does my wife and so do my 3 daughters! The weather is why we plan to leave for good but also the expensive rents! I also heard about horror stories at many hospitals (and yes, I have worked in Africa and to be honest, Africans hospitals are way more functional than the ones in Canada in terms of human aspect… there they care, Canadians do not give a shit about anyone!!! I am saying this as a Belgian)! I have some African colleagues at work here and 80 percent of them either want to go back to Africa or move to Europe as soon as they get enough experience in canada)! Same go for most of my French colleagues as well who really want to head off back to Europe as soon as they finish their contract. Almost None of us at work , including me, want to retire or get old here in Canada and endure loneliness in a country that is far from Europe! None of us want to endure the triage way at Canadian hospitals or wait for months to get a surgery (in Europe, we do not have to face that) and beyond everything, None of us want to get pensions that can cover our cost of living… but for that, I have to come back to France or Belgium where it come from. So sorry Canada!
@@thaliavk1350 Great question, yeah sadly the market for housing here is super competitive so if you find something you like you have to be prepared to sign on the spot. Places may become available last minute ( if someone only gives 2 weeks notice before moving out for example) and the landlord will try to get that place filled asap, so that might be what you're finding
Such a great video for people looking for a place here! You killed this 🙌
Thank you! this was yet another example of me "phoning it in", hahaha 😅

Thanks for the video! I‘ll move to vancouver soon :) How many weeks would you start looking for an appartment or room before arriving?
I would say deff like 1-2 months in advance! And try to lock something in ASAP because places go quickly :) Good luck with the move!!
@@HarmonieV Thanks! I recently saw a lot of postings for rooms within 30 days, is it normal that everything is so fast pace?
