@@RolandSpecialSauceit'll take at least 4 years just like everything that fast on guitar. Stop putting FALSE hopes in people. I've taught that lick for ages and the fastest I've seen a student get it to 175bpm 16th notes was 4 years. And that was only because I teach it to hammer on from nowhere on the g string. Picking everything will take a little longer because some will do better picking the g string with a down stroke, some better with an up stroke. Then you have the hand synchronization part of it, you bypass that with the hammer on from no where. The picking everything approach takes a little longer. Its better to hammer on from no where because you're building good strength with the 3rd finger which will be crucial for pentatonic playing and phrasing.

Ah the two stringed pentatonic shapes. I made map on a photocopy highlighting all pentatonic notes on two string and love using it but honestly....I only use it to connect cross string pentatonic shapes. That was played fast. You hit a major note in there....yeah I noticed. 😊
That shred in the beginning was only done using the lick you taught us here? Or did u throw in other shapes and licks? Like how do we get from doing the lick slowly to being able to dance all over the fretboard 😢
He looks like Elvis, but his facial expressions also kind of reminds me of that actor from Resevior Dogs, Michael Madsen. (when he was young of course)
ruclips.net/video/uiUT2Z1ub6Q/видео.html here is a normal link so you can pause and rewind it. how did i do this you might ask? every video on youtube has a video ID. these are the letters and numbers that youtube uses to direct you to the correct video. when you look at a youtube short link (ruclips.net/user/shortsuiUT2Z1ub6Q is the link for this short), the letters and numbers after it says /shorts/ is the video ID. in this case, the video ID is uiUT2Z1ub6Q. so, we take uiUT2Z1ub6Q, then copy and paste it onto a normal youtube video link which starts with this www.youtube.com/watch?v= . put the video ID after it says watch?v= and it will convert the short into a normal video. all together you get this: ruclips.net/video/uiUT2Z1ub6Q/видео.html hope that helped!
Cool video and playing. I never really had a handle on what shredd guitar actually was. It seems that you can take blues riffs and play them really fast and you've got "shred." And when played faster they take on a different life form, so to speak.
yeah, a lot of beginning shred guitarist start with the pentatonic blues because it is easier but with experience they move onto the other scale modes. If done properly it sounds amazing to stay fast, clean & in time even when doing something as simple as a chromatic ascend and descend
I note the 2nd finger is coming on and off the G string, could this be played holding it down on the G instead? Or will it just get too muddy? If you know what you mean, my speed is OK but when I clocked you were adding and removing 2nd finger my speed drops to about 1/3 :/
Dude same! Yes in theory you could play it without lifting the finger off the G, but it would lose some articulation and clarity. Depends on what you are going for, though. Would still sound cool if you were on time and up to speed, even without lifting off the G, although I highly advise practicing to lift it off, in the long run you will want to be able to play fast without constant ringing tones! Still working on it myself. I have seen guitarists do things like this for years and this is one thing I was never able to do bc I didn't know what it was. So glad I found this so I can practice it.
wtf? I would consider myself to be able to play moderately fast - not shredding fast but for everything other than shredding more than fast enough. But if I try this with a downstroke on the g and an upstroke on the b string I can't even play it on half my normal speed - I can only play it the other way round (up on the g and down on the b string - the first time on the g I can play it without problems as downstroke, but when I get up again it must be an upstroke). Is there something wrong with me?😂
From your experience is he using a 0.09 gauge? I need to know cause it seems I’m having trouble bending a whole tone easily my with my 0.10 strings in several parts of the fretboard. I mean I’m breaking them.
If you're breaking strings something else is going on and changing gauges won't fix that. Its possible you might be tuning your string (or strings) an octave above standard. It sounds ridiculous but its a common thing especially when you're starting and still getting the grip of using a tuner. I play 9s then and now and I did it for years. I couldn't figure out why the strings were so hard to press down or bend and I used to break them all the time. If that isn't the problem you could have a bur on your saddles or tuning pegs causing a problem. If that isn't the problem then it's you're bending technique. But I'm inclined to believe you might be tuning an octave above on one or all of your strings.
