No matter if you are knitting mitered squares, a hue shift afghan or you want to do shoulder seams, there may come a point where you need to join seams in garter stitch edge stitch and cast-on edge in an invisible seam way.
This can be done with a little trick and works best if you use the color of the cast-on for the seaming.

Thank you so much. I was trying to seam the Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman and your tutorial was the best!

My results and neatness for joining perpendicular edges in garter stitch have vastly improved after following this video and technique. Great example of how to do an instructional video on RUclips.

Fabulously clear, especially the illustration of the "v's" Also, so thorough! Any tips regarding blocking the finished product? Thanks, Norman

hm...i typically block before seaming. But not exactly sure if that was your question? :)

Hi Norman, thanks for your explanation. I was wondering what type of cast on gives the v’s; can you tell me please? I learned the Jenny’s stretchy cast on for garter but it doesn’t give v’s so I’m confused now. Thanks!

sorry for seeing this so late. So there are cast-ons that create a first row in the same breath and those that don't.
For those that do, there are typically purl and knit equivalents. And you have to pick the one that is in pattern - or start on the wrong side.
I talk a little bit baout it here: nimble-needles.com/stitches/how-to-knit-the-stockinette-stitch/

    Hi Norman 👋🏽

@@nimbleneedlestwohab einfach mal rumprobiert. 😅
