How about this time they focus on several ‘niche’ ideas at the same time. The main from factor is still the switch but just having that slide rail for you to add on it’s experience, the can have a detachable second screen that attached portably and detached docked to be sort of like DS or Wii U. A 3D screen would be a nice but more expensive option. Another thing can be front and back cameras that attaches portably and detached docked and can be used separately. You can hold them separately or attached for more flexibility. Many also suggested VR but it’s too demanding for quality games that it doesn’t make a great main gimmick, but they can do a headband that attaches portably. The vitality sensor would be cool but only a few game can utilise it, make it a module that attaches. All of them are sold separately and doesn’t impact the cost of the console so it stays at $299
This. I think what they will have is a clamshell switch with a second screen for handheld mode, that can be detached and used as a controller/second screen when docking the main screen. This gives you the best of the DS / Wii U / Switch worlds all at once. The technology may now be where it needs to be to create something like this. Honestly, I think it would be good enough to just improve the hardware and implement the DLSS technology to the point where you can just pop in any Switch game you have and it becomes 4k/60fps upscaled. That alone would probably be enough of a "gimmick" to sell most Switch owners a new system since they get to see all the games they own in a new way and don't feel like they're leaving anything behind. Also if they made the dock have more of a purpose that would be nice. At least it could house its own CPU for a more powerful system, but it would be cool if they sold a dock that's sort of like a Gameboy Player type device that can play DS games, using the handheld as the touch screen. Of course, the DS games would need to be upscaled as well to not look like crap. I really think the next system will just be "Nintendo Switch 4K" or "Super Nintendo Switch." Nintendo has a winner with the Switch and it would be needlessly reckless to mess with the formula. The Switch concept has plenty more life left, it just needs updated internals. If anything, the future continues to be "mobile" and they just need to double down on it further. Mobile ARM-based processors are now taking over desktop computers, with Apple Silicon leading the way, so I don't see the Switch concept becoming irrelevant anytime soon. Custom designed ARM SOC-based systems are winning, and general purpose x86 processors are slowly losing more and more marketshare. @@samueleinhorn6713 to keep the system light enough to work with 2 tablets in handheld mode, they'd need to cut down on the size of the system, causing it to once again be behind hardware-wise. Plus, while there's instances of Nintendo using dual-screen perfectly, there's also a lot of instances out there of Nintendo forcing in a use for a console's gimmick that doesn't work well at all, and I'd rather not tempt them.
@Calvinbrine Nestoris behind as in power specs compared to their competition? If that's what you mean that's a non-issue. Nintendo always follows their own hardware strategy, they haven't cared about being up-to-date since the Wii (and even longer if you count handhelds) and it's worked out better than worse for them.
I’m surprised that you didn’t mention the most common theory floating around: dual screens. Now a lot of people dismiss this idea because they don’t know how it would work with the handheld/home console hybrid nature of the Switch, but I actually think that this can easily be addressed…. The second screen for the Switch 2 is the Switch we already have. Think about it. Nintendo wants every Switch owner to adopt the Switch 2 seamlessly. This means that the Switch 2 will most likely be backwards compatible. But to also prevent Switch owners from regretting their purchase, they’ll allow Switch owners to connect their old Switch to the Switch 2 via Bluetooth so it can act as a second screen. This possible gimmick also has additional benefits: (1) By being an optional feature, developers do not have to do much or anything for this second screen functionality if they don’t want to (so it can act as the 3DS’ 3D feature, a cool idea that can be ignored). (2) Such a feature would also allow fans who miss Nintendo’s dual screen systems (DS and 3DS for handheld and Wii U for console) to enjoy that functionality again. (3) Finally, with a dual screen set up, Nintendo now has a path for additional NSO apps: DS, 3DS, and Wii U.
Honestly, they should implement some sort of universal screen mirroring that allows people with a phone, tablet or any device that uses an app; to play what ever multiplayer game on your console, on their device, without owning a Switch 2 or the game. The app could be part of an NSO expansion family subscripton, and would encourage non Switch 2 owners to eventually buy one; once they see how awesome it is (they can only screen mirror when near a Switch 2 owner and not online).
Also. I think the "New Switch" will have more features specially on the controllers. The Joy-Cons. I think stuff like built-in microphones or cameras could give more use to games. More easily than... IR Camera. For real what game does even use that feature? At least i can think on a number of games that would require a microphone or a regular camera to have their Nintendo Switch Online version.
While Nintendo likes being different with their gimmicks to set themselves apart from Sony and Microsoft, they really need to play it safe with their follow up system to the Switch. I'm sure 90% of Switch gamers would be happy with simply a more stronger Switch with better graphics and 60FPS as the standard frame rate for most if not all games but keep the same main factor of being able to play portable or docked to a TV for a large screen experience. If they try to be too different and implement a feature as the main selling point of the system that nobody asked for, it could backfire on them big time and we'll have another WII U situation.
Iwata was more known for having gimmicks through previous Nintendo systems from the DS to the Sattley final system the switch. Furukawa more than likely will not utilize gimmicks like this.
My biggest hope is to have a wireless dock. They were able to stream hdmi data from console to gamepad over 10 years ago with the wii u, I don't see any reason they couldn't do the other way around. I wouldn't like any AR integration with it tbh. And I can see the argument for having to charge it frequently, having to stay next to an outlet does sound annoying. I just really love dual screen gaming and I hope the wii u didn't kill it off.
I'm sure for Nintendos Next Gen Hybrid System will definitely have a gimmick that will be controversial as motion control. I hope it isn't VR because I'm not a huge fan of it at all I would rather it be another Dual Screen because I miss the 3DS and DS.
First off I really hope it’s not the VR/AR because I want to be able to play my games normally second, I don’t want it to be portable only (like the switch lite) and finally I want to fall backwards compatibility with all of the current switch titles and hopefully all of the Nintendo switch online emulators will roll forward.
I'd be alright if it is VR. Nintendo making VR games would be wild. I'd much rather they focus on the same thing with better performance and a 1080p screen. Really don't need 4k.
One idea they are going to go back on is the camera idea. So expect camera usage in games. As Botw & ToTK the S Slate is a Switch in a nutshell & in the game you use it to take pictures & more so it'll make a comeback.
Technically, in BOTW the Sheika Slate was a Wii U GamePad. On TOTK however, it looks more like a Switch. And yes that also has a camera. A camera and microphone would be great for game development.
Honestly I'd just be happy if they beefed up the hardware and improved the os. Also I think if they could somehow figure out how to do 144hz without killing the battery that would be sick
1080p screen, 2 skus with AI rez - one regular dock scale native 1080 up to 2k, one ‘super’ dock scale native 1440 up to 4K. Vitality sensor and hd rumble 2 would be cool. Most importantly, it must be back compatible with switch.
I was thinking about this as well. Im sure they are gonna use VR/AR as the new gimmick buildings off of labo. It isn't gonna be on the level of Playstation, but more accessible and vr modes for their games like labo had with breath of the wild
By the way a low resolution camera was exist even in 3DS/ps vita, there was some fun minigame, it is sad the switch don't have at least a cheap camera for AR games. Hopefully dolby atmos speakers like my Xiaomi pad 5 tablet...
I think it won't be VR simply because VR inherently requires Power - and We know the Switch 2 even will struggle to offer possible Unreal 5 engine visuals let alone _plus_ VR! A 3D _Recall_ to pick up where the 3DS left off is much more possible. All We know, is that Nintendo sequels outdo the Originals so We shouldn't be disappointed. 😉
Maybe they borrow something from Niantic games - and no, I don't mean AR. Sure, it was funny seeing Pikachu photo-bomb wedding photos, but that's not why people really play Niantic's games. Most people (including myself) eventually abandon the AR element. What keeps people playing is geolocation - basically the games are virtual geochaching. What if Nintendo put a GPS into the Switch 2 and created some Niantic-like geolocation games? Without the mobile gacha mechanics, of course. . . . although my biggest fear is that after seeing the profits of their mobile titles, they'll start putting such things into their mainline games. 😨 That said, it'll be interesting for sure to see what the new gimmick will be. Knowing Nintendo's history, there will almost certainly be one.
This Health feature sounds like something Nintendo would do. AR I don't think for the reasons mentioned. Even the most popular AR game of all time (Pokemon Go) was not played by anyone for more than 2 days in AR mode. VR has been claimed by Sony and that would be too expensive to implement well. Had thought one could take depth as an overarching feature. 3D like the 3DS, analog shoulder buttons like the Gamecube and even 3D Touch like the iPhone. But I don't know how to promote that or design games around it. But I am 100% sure that the approach is correct. Nintendo won't release hardware 10 times as powerful, even if they could. There will only be new hardware as soon as a new feature is ready for the market that surprises and delights players around the world and makes fun. ;)
I honestly think they should just keep the Switch/Lite as it is (replacing the 3DS) with its huge installed user base.. and focus on a solid next-gen home console that can compete with PS5 and XboxX/S... no reason they can't support both
Like if you stopped paying for NSO your access to the games would be paused, but also maybe they will maintain this service longer than what we had for prior generations since we now pay for it. So there’s pros and cons.
I feel like they really struck gold with the switch and it would be dumb to just throw it all away. All Nintendo needs to do is just make a more powerful switch if you ask me, but then again this is Nintendo were talking about, who knows what the heck their gonna do.
Really don't think it's gonna be vr at all. 1. Failure of the virtual boy and loss of interest in labo 2. Lack of major vr sales/games/mass industry movement to vr 3. Nintendos move to remove 3D from 3DS showed that they value practicality and battery life of handhelds over visual/screen gimmicks 4. Vr does not mix with on-the-go handhelds/safety concerns 5. Local multiplayer with vr is impractical/more expensive to require
Not necessarily Nintendo but I want all smartphones manufacturers to get over the touch screen controls. Go back to physical keyboards/ buttons please.
My guess would be there will be no Switch 2 and instead Nintendo will focus more on developing Mobile Games since the reason why Nintendo have so much innovation to begin with is because Satoru Iwata hes the one holding nintendo stockowner from making nintendo focus more on android game since he consider mobile game to be of lower quality but the thing is stockowner only cares about the short term money making, with Mobile Games dominating the game market its not suprising for AAA Company to spend their budget there instead Nintendo patented more and more AR Technologies developed for Android Device and the current CEO of Nintendo doesnt really have a good track record. its become sadder for Iwata passing since it might also become the death of Nintendo Personality itself.
Meh not really. Nintendo has actually begun to slightly pull away from the mobile phone space. Theyve even shut down one of their mobile titles completely (dragalia lost)
How about for a gimmick…. Even more amazing games! Something Sony and Microsoft have failed at this gen. How about something that adds to the portability more and gets more people out side, like what the DS did/Pokémon go did. Why not bring back the circle pads to make it more portable and slim and maybe fix the drift issue. How about doing something with amibo. Imagine more top tier games like TOTK more often.
Ever since i moved up from a wii u to a switch ive been playing mostly on the toilet just pooping my brains out while i play dr. Mario to keep me calm through the dieria explosions spraying out my back side i hope the switch 2 comes with toilet paper or a vr headset so i can just live on the toilet
The switch 2 having the same power as a ps4 console. There are three types of ps4 consoles. The first two types ps4 consoles. The regular ps4 and the ps4 slim has no 4k and the last type the ps4 pro has 4k. Nintendo could go down either path guys. Just my opinion.
it would be pretty sad to see them use the PS4 as the standard they want their new hardware given the PS5/XBox S/X have been put three years already !🙄

I want the pro controller to go back to the Wii era of having the analog sticks in the playstation orientation
Nintendo tends to focus a lot more on a variety of hardware features rather than their software capabilities.
N64's gimmick wasn't 3D polygonal graphics, it was already done before by many. It was a controller with analogue stick.
I'm sure for Nintendos Next Gen Hybrid System will definitely have a gimmick that will be controversial as motion control. I hope it isn't VR because I'm not a huge fan of it at all I would rather it be another Dual Screen because I miss the 3DS and DS.
i doubt it will be vr, nintendo is a company that markets heavily to familys, and vr kinda goes against that.
A clam shell design I would not hate. Might facilitate DS and 3DS games on NSO too.
@AndreSRestart Nintendo does a good way of making good clamshell designs it could work and plus been playing my 2Ds XL lately to.
First off I really hope it’s not the VR/AR because I want to be able to play my games normally second, I don’t want it to be portable only (like the switch lite) and finally I want to fall backwards compatibility with all of the current switch titles and hopefully all of the Nintendo switch online emulators will roll forward.
@@AndresRestart A clamshell design with a detachable second screen, so you can play with a second screen in docked mode like with the Wii U.
That DKC music 👌🏻
Hopefully a feature called meetpass, with a come back for mii.
1080p screen, 2 skus with AI rez - one regular dock scale native 1080 up to 2k, one ‘super’ dock scale native 1440 up to 4K. Vitality sensor and hd rumble 2 would be cool. Most importantly, it must be back compatible with switch.
I want screen that vibrates when you touch it or changes its texture.
Woah that would be pretty crazy
I’d say the Switch 2 will be around the same power level as the Xbox One X but still weaker than the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
My guess is that it is a wireless dock. It's a switch with more power and now it's wireless.
For n64, a big gimmick was the analog stick. And rumble
I'm thinking a Switch that can do glasses-free autostereoscopic 3d... only needs to be a 2k display as it'll still be a 7in oled
No stick drift would be a cool feature.
I was thinking about this as well. Im sure they are gonna use VR/AR as the new gimmick buildings off of labo. It isn't gonna be on the level of Playstation, but more accessible and vr modes for their games like labo had with breath of the wild
No but something way cheaper and no at the level of PlayStation VR is the Meta quest. And it's doing well.
Keep it simple. Upgrade the controller screen (base model OLED) and graphics.
The switch is a perfect combination already, no need to overdo it.
This is a great video idea bro, the thing I think alot of people are excited most for
Switch 2 vr now without cardboard please
I'd like to see a bunch of little gimmicks rather than one big one.
I think their next feature will be proprietary AI chip(s)
I don’t care what the new gimmick is, as long as it involves, at the very least, 1080p at 60 FPS. 😂
That said, it'll be interesting for sure to see what the new gimmick will be.
There will only be new hardware as soon as a new feature is ready for the market that surprises and delights players around the world and makes fun. ;)
I honestly think they should just keep the Switch/Lite as it is (replacing the 3DS) with its huge installed user base.. and focus on a solid next-gen home console that can compete with PS5 and XboxX/S... no reason they can't support both
I really hope they don’t go the VR route
Will NSO ever add the ability to purchase the classic games to own forever?
Maybe if you own NSO forever 💀
@@AndresRestart what do you mean?
Like if you stopped paying for NSO your access to the games would be paused, but also maybe they will maintain this service longer than what we had for prior generations since we now pay for it. So there’s pros and cons.
@@AndresRestart so that's a good thing?
It is going to be ar glasses where you can see your game on the glasses
I feel like they really struck gold with the switch and it would be dumb to just throw it all away. All Nintendo needs to do is just make a more powerful switch if you ask me, but then again this is Nintendo were talking about, who knows what the heck their gonna do.
Really don't think it's gonna be vr at all.
1. Failure of the virtual boy and loss of interest in labo
2. Lack of major vr sales/games/mass industry movement to vr
3. Nintendos move to remove 3D from 3DS showed that they value practicality and battery life of handhelds over visual/screen gimmicks
4. Vr does not mix with on-the-go handhelds/safety concerns
5. Local multiplayer with vr is impractical/more expensive to require
Youre gonna be able to take it in and out of the dock attached to your waist and its gonna have a built in walkman so its a sony collab.
No gimmick this time. Just make it more powerful and that's it.
maybe the next console shouldn't be called Switch anything because every time they try something like that the iteration sells much worse
I hope theres no gimmick just give me a Switch successor that almost reaches the graphical prowess of the PS5 and Im good
Not necessarily Nintendo but I want all smartphones manufacturers to get over the touch screen controls. Go back to physical keyboards/ buttons please.
My guess would be there will be no Switch 2 and instead Nintendo will focus more on developing Mobile Games since the reason why Nintendo have so much innovation to begin with is because Satoru Iwata hes the one holding nintendo stockowner from making nintendo focus more on android game since he consider mobile game to be of lower quality
but the thing is stockowner only cares about the short term money making, with Mobile Games dominating the game market its not suprising for AAA Company to spend their budget there instead
Nintendo patented more and more AR Technologies developed for Android Device and the current CEO of Nintendo doesnt really have a good track record.
its become sadder for Iwata passing since it might also become the death of Nintendo Personality itself.
Meh not really. Nintendo has actually begun to slightly pull away from the mobile phone space. Theyve even shut down one of their mobile titles completely (dragalia lost)
If Nintendo sticks with the Switch brand, they better call it a Super Switch or I'll riot.
I also think it's gonna be VR as it's in the correct switch but isn't that good.
I wish it’s just the Switch again, but better.
If switch 2 doesn't do VR, it ain't worth a purchase imo
I doubt it will go for a gimmick after the wii u.
Nothing too wonky as the primary draw of the system i’d say.
They did though, you might have heard of it, it's called Switch.
They need to just hurry up already
Nah, they need to and will hold off until Nov 2025.
Nintendo needs to take their time ⏲ on their next console.
Naw, let them cook
I'm ready to trade in my Switch for their next gen
Switch only hae 2 years left anyways.
i wonder will it be more powerful than the iPhone 14pro max
No way it’s less powerful than a PS4. I think it will have the power of at least a PS4 Pro.
Dual screen?
Nintendo R.O.B. Mark 2. with AI. Bring him back!
Si Nintendo le veux il peuvent faire un console portable VR abordable comme la Pimax portal un écran 4K + Snapdragon XR2 puissance de la ps4 1,5 Tf a 299€
Nintendo switching towards new console.
Please no vr

Nintendo stop with the gimmicks. If you don’t Microsoft will have all your IP. Your welcome.
Hopefully the gimmick is Not Existing
You plenty of time to think about it. Successor is 2026. The gimmick wont be as grand as you think cause Switch is built into it.
You think 2026 I'm thinking more 2025. The Switch has at least 2 more years left for the Switch.
@@FTChomp9980 speculation year is 2025.
Nintendo is focusing on IP awareness 2023 to 2025.
Movies, animations and other media. The Zelda movie will be 2D on computer. Then we will ger rhe DK movie timed with expansion at universal studios.
There are way to many franchises and sequals coming to switch.
The successor year will have prime 4 cross platform both, plus the third breath of the wild game as well as Oddyssy 2. All in first callander year one per quarter. The switch is in successor. The reason we are looking at 2026 is IP awareness and our accounts are seemlessly moving forward on switch. The current switch family price drops when successor comes out. This is cause they will all coexist along side each other till 2028 or early 2029 when successor will fully be dominant
I'm not reading that essay 2026 is way to late 2025 makes more sense to release the next Gen console. Again Switch only hae 2 more years left in it!
The next Switch processor - It won't even be close to Ps4 quality. You'd end up getting one hour battery life. For Nintendo, battery life is key. Steam Deck can't even reach Ps4 levels & it barely gets over one hour battery life with AAA games. The next Switch will be a lot more underpowered than most people are expecting.
Not really. Not at all. The steam deck is *beyond* PS4 and it gets 2 hours, which is pretty low sure but the deck is an x86 product, Nintendo would use ARM, so the cpu can consume a fifth of the power for the same performance
hi am i first?
Yes lol
