It probably backing off the power when going slow to not cook the motor. If the motor is not moving and your pumping in 1000w you're just creating a heating element at that point, it will melt the copper windings fast. It's a safety feature not a bug.

I will get 36.75 miles of range on a full battery. They also disabled the re-gen braking shortly after your video and mine did not come with that option even if you turn it on.

@TailHappyTV Oh man Matt, I LOVE your reviews, such HQ! Liked all seen so far..BUT this Rattan Pathfinder deserves a FAIR SHAKE! ️This is the MOST FULL FEATURED EBIKE on your channel Ive seen and has at least 5 BONUS FEATURES that most other ebikes dont have! ie. 15 Level SPEED CONTROL! (Normal, Sport, Eco, 3x5) Regen Braking w/Hydraulic Disk Brakes! Front Hydraulic Suspension w/ Remote Lockout! Color LCD w/ APP! 3A Fast Charger! 1200 Peak Watts/80nm! , 400lbs load capacity!😳 The only thing missing is rear suspension! Starting the review with only a 86% charge battery (in garage) when others were full is not fair to anyone esp. prospective buyers like ME!? 🤦‍♂ No parking garage incline at different modes? You didn't turn off the Cruise control. Slow start set on 2 (didnt change). No weight given for the bike? No long uphill climb like the Velotric Nomad? This ebike DEFINITELY deserves a more in-depth review over any other (w/ a better title like SUPREME QUALITY, than rhetorical "Terrible Fat Ebike"?! 😆) based on the 15 mode speed control and app ALONE! (turn OFF cruise control), and battery endurance (at FULL charge we could see how good REGEN IS?!) PLEASE 😎👍 ps. Despite all that I liked the video and will use your links. *No I don't work for Rattan, just AMAZED at their QUALITY and Yes they should be paying affiliates $$ for purchases!

curious how this compares to the Velotric Nomad 1? Rattan states on their website the motor is 750W with 1200W peak output. Yet your parking garage incline test with throttle only was not successful from a hard stop. But the Velotric Nomad 1 made the climb with an indicated 1200W on the display under the same conditions. Rattan also states 80nM of torque vs Nomad's 76nM. Any idea why the Rattan didn't have the oomph to make it up the incline? would love to see a head to head test with the Nomad 1 ;-)

Just so everyone knows the regen braking is no longer a thing on the pathfinder. I just received mine and it wasn’t working so I sent them a message about it and was told this…
“The regen function is gone, we reprogrammed the controller and cancel this function. We found that this function recharges little power to the battery, and actually, this will decrease the life of the motor, so we decided to cancel this function. Canceling the regen function will not be a problem for the normal use and it will extend the life of motor.”

@@TailHappyTV is there any reason at all that they use braking versus just powering the thing off and harvesting the 200watts to recharge the battery the same way you can power exercise bikes or take literally any motor and turn it into a generator.
I customised my bike to turn the motor off with either a tap of the brake or a tap of the throttle to cut the motor and slow down kinda like down shifting without actually losing any momentum. That allows me to use the throttle precisely or the pedals precisely versus both which is kinda confusing and I can slow down like down shifting a car without sapping any energy away by actually braking to waste no energy.
I ride daily and charge once a week and only use my brakes the same way you try to use your brakes as little as possible while driving a car.
I can pedal while the motor is off and the motor is spinning. Gotta keep inspecting the circuitry to add a second battery to charge passively as a reserve that I can switch to but I got cold feet and keep wondering about the capacitors and if everything is wired correctly to work to allow the bike to not accidentally backfeed power and blow the board.

They are asking 300 as is. The bike looks like very low miles, almost new looking. Motor and battery are 1000 watt and 48/14.5Ah. They are now selling for around 1400 new. Is this worth the risk not knowing what is wrong with it? This bike did come from a very hilly area, I do know that much. Also I saw it when it first came in, and it looked like it had been laid down, left lever was turned up and display screen had ding on it. I'm new to e bikes, looking for 1rst one.

With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

Not looking to sound like a troll, but I've seen a gazillion reviews of all these e-bikes and the one thing that's rarely mentioned is the level of support these companies provide. If you have a problem with any of these bikes that have wonderful reviews and options, how does the company respond to your need for technical support and parts? Nice to have a bike with awesome features, but after you purchase the bike, you're out on your own. Although, they don't make premium bikes, I'm more apt to buy a bike like Lectric that has outstanding support and who will respond to their customers even after they've bought their bike(s). Traditional non-e-bike shops do not want to deal with e-bike repairs in a lot of cases. So, you're going to be stuck with the e-bike that you bought from the company and it's support staff if there is any staff for support. That costs money and most e-bike companies aren''t willing or able to do such a thing. I can't tell you how many times I've seen e-bikes that I'd love to buy, but know have little to no support. These are e-bikes packed with features that I'd love to have. Anyway, enough of the rant. Until this marketplace starts to provide sufficient support, I'll stick with those companies that don't leave me hanging when problems arise.
