Thank you so much for the video. After a few weeks of the tailgate glass Amar light going off and on and driving crazy I found your video and just moved the latch as far back as I could, Tada!. It's not coming on any longer. You are a genius! Thank you again.

Old videos never die. I had the dreaded door ajar dome light issue,.Was getting ready to tear apart the doors when I noticed the rear glass wouldn't latch. Found your video and bada bing bada boom found the cause which was the latch getting pushed out of alignment. My rear glass strut lifts were dead as well. Slamming of the window must have pushed the latch out of adjustment. Thanks for posting this solution 4 years ago

have a 2001 tribute and in the last 24hrs. i have watched at least a dozen door ajar vids. i almst went and started with the sprays but watched some more and came across your vid and glad i did. i bypassed the 10mm and just stuck my key in there a giggled until the door ajar light went out and that did the trick. it was very satisfying to see that door ajar go out. thank you, you saved me a headache👍🏼😊and if it happens again, i know where to go first.

Thanks for recording this. My actuator is temperamental - when I try to lock, it will just buzz. But if I try to lock several times it will eventually lock. So I need to open up the hatch and see if maybe the electrical contacts to the actuator are dirty, or if the mechanism needs to be lubricated. And if not, then it will be disassembled to replace the actuator.

Yes , it had me running around checking doors and the door hatch over and over and was about to start looking at door switches at first . For some reason that glass part never registered as being something that would set off an open door . Glad it could help and thank you for watching

Was very helpful and saved me a ton of money, I had tested it by just pushing it in but pushing until it stopped. So once again thanks for the time to make this.

I appreciate the feedback , I know it's a real pain when that light comes on and you've checked every door ; it's good to have an idea what's causing it . I'm glad it could help someone else out , I know when I was checking mine I was seriously thinking it was in big hatch and wasn't even thinking about the little glass hatch . Thank you for watching

How cool that I found a video that describes what the issue may be for my 2006 Mazda Tribute! And my window won't stay open, either!

Thanks for the suggestions. My interior lights were staying on all the time as well. Your trick to push in the rear window catch by hand, worked. Up to that point, I didn't know if it was the hatchback switch or the hatchback window switch that wasn't working correctly. But assumed it was the window since I had to slam it hard to get it o close.
What I found was the metal loop on the window that interacts with the latch was slightly bent.
I got a large pair of plumber's pliers and bent the loop forward ever so slightly. That helped, but the latch still wasn't catching with/out slamming lightly. So I did the WD-40 thing and bent the loop forward a hair more.
Perfect! The window now closes w/o slamming, and the door ajar light now goes out. Yea!

Great job on getting it working again . These hatches can sometimes be real finicky and it takes some work and patience to get them to close right. Thank you for the feedback and thanks for watching

I appreciate the feedback , another success story that's great , I figured this was probably quite common and before discovering this I'd checked every door and the hatch and the rear glass hadn't even dawned on me until after . Thanks again for watching

I just stuck a little piece of cardboard inside the latch, closed the window and the light went off. Thanks for the starting point : )

My 2005 Mazda Tribute has this Door ajar light panel that stays on constantly and also dings constantly! Love my vehicle, but the ding is absolutely annoying! Please help! Thanks in advance!

I would check this rear hatch out first and rule that out , the glass and the hatch will set it off. From there I would move on to the doors until you find the culprit. The temporary method may be putting a paper clip in the latch connector in question until it can be fixed or replaced. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
