  • We will go over my new build of a 3 Axis skull mechanism made following the tutorial from the Stan Winston School of Character Arts. We will discuss the methods involved that can also be used in many other Animatronic designs.
    We'll also look at programming using the new DIY Controller and stand alone Recorder boards used to easily and quickly program your characters. You can find the kit at Addicore - bit.ly/2UPMP84

    Looking good guys! Stan Winston studios have inspired me on many levels....great resource. The RC controller with recording is really coming along. Looks like a winner for sure!

      I've gotten so much great information from them as well. The new multi track mode should be released in the next week or two.

    Is the RC receiver in his parts list equivalent to the wireless controller you discussed?

    • @halstaff
      @halstaff  4 года назад

      Yes it is Mark. It has become my go to controller. I may be a bit biased.😃

    if I just want to do a jaw movement what will be the easiest way to do that with a controller that is ready to go ?

    Hi Steve, I made this three axis mechanism, and bought the addronics controller. How were you running the head and the arms at the same time? Wouldn't you need to run the arms on one track then the neck on another? Which means you couldnt run them both at the same time?

      I'm running 7 servos on the arms on one DIY RC recorder board and using the 3 servos on the 3 axis skull and the 2 actuators on a second recorder board.

    Can you please give me the link to your universal joint. I have been looking for one like this for weeks now, I was going to 3D print mine but I’d prefer a metal one. Thank you!

      Here's the one recommended in the Stan Winston tutorial and the one I used. Expensive but well made. www.mcmaster.com/catalog/126/1329 - item number 6443K24

      Halstaff's Animatronic Workshop thank you, I’m going to try a different 3 axis design to keep the motors internal, I think I’ll watch the tutorial too and see if it helps. Thanks again.

      @@julianlsproduction6319 I'd love to see your 3 axis design when you complete it.

      @@halstaff I think Frightprops has a 3 axis that’s all in the head. Very head is expensive.

    So how do you connect the two recording boards together to make show like if you have 12 servos you need to boards .

    • @halstaff
      @halstaff  4 года назад

      I connect a 3 pin cable to one of the digital output headers on the primary board and connect the other end of the cable to the high trigger input header on the second board. I trigger it while programming the primary routine with the appropriate button.

      Where can I get the 3 axis kit

    • @halstaff
      @halstaff  4 года назад

      @@davidathan6439 It is not a kit. You purchase your own parts and the tutorial from the Stan Winston School of Character Arts - www.stanwinstonschool.com/tutorials/3-axis-robotic-mechanisms-animatronic-necks-torsos-part-1

      Hopefully Haunt Hackers will be back up and running soon. Covid is causing so many issues!
      There are other jaw sync boards available like the Scary Terry version from Cowlacious. www.cowlacious.com/scary-terry-audio-servo-driver-board-st-425/ I still use that circuit in a couple of props but I prefer the WLT.
