Adanna The PA THANK YOU FOR THIS. I will be an older PA student as well (I'm 28 and will be 29 when I apply). I too have struggled with insecurities of being an older student. This video is truly inspiring and motivating.
Adanna The PA I am inspired by your presentation of life as a PA. I would be what one may consider a super non- traditional student, considering the professional after many years.
Christina, Don't even worry. We all share some of those same insecurities. Questioning if we can do it, but trust me. We can and many have done it before us and have succeeded so just commit! You got this!
How much time do you commit too in PA school with work and study time- 50 hrs? Can u work 1 day a week? Can you get grad plus loans for cost of living? Did you have to apply more than once before getting accepted?
I'll be 40 when I apply. By then I'll be an RN. I hope to be accepted into law school and have it completed by then as well. I'm 37 now with one year left in nursing school. Never be afraid to go get what's for you...
I'm a previous EMT with 9 years experience and headed into LPN next month but want to make the jump to PA school. I'm 45 years old, Native American and female...I was thinking and doubting myself that I was too old or too much of a minority in that aspect! I just realized I'm just non-traditional. Lol Thank you for all your amazing videos. This has inspired me to make the jump into pre-PA in 2019, now.
You are never too old. I'm 54 with a strong academic back ground and I'm thkg about getting my prerequisites that hv expired this summer and then apply for the PathA program because I have always love pathology.
J T I’m almost finished in an LPN program that I chose two years ago based on the fact it was free for me to attend. I honestly believe that once I’m done in December, I’ll be looking into applying for PA school!
I’m 33 with 4 children. Starting PA school In one week. Will be tough, but all good things are tough. Nothing is free in life. I think it will Be a fulfilling career.
This was great! I am 32 and a pre-NP student. I probably won't become an NP until I'm 37 or 38 at the earliest. This was soooo inspiring and motivational that it's never too late. Thank you for this wonderful video. 🙌🏽
I am happy to have stumbled upon this video. I am 40 years old and aspiring to become a PA. You and the other people in this video have given me a boost in morale. I will continue to persevere throughout this journey.
I really needed to see this because I just retired from the military after 20 years and I am just really starting school full time and thought that I was too old to begin especially wanting a career in medicine. Thank you so much for this video
this make me cry a little, i just re enrolled to finished my bachelors in phcycology , im 35 i have 4 children , im going to take a cna certificated to make the patients hours. For financial reasons and family i never pursue my dream. it going to take me like 3 years but i will get there.
I truly needed this. I’m 28, a divorced mom, and medical assistant. I was nervous that I am way behind in finally choosing what I wanted to do with my life.
+M. Stargen there are options for that! I just told another viewer about this but there are 32 programs that allow you to go directly into the PA program not really sure how competitive they are but they are options for individuals with just their high school diploma so there are options. Stay determined and do the footwork. You can make it!
Adanna The PA i am 38 years old psych tech in the adult psych ER . I just found our abour this career path an want to jump right in. What programs are you referring to that allow you to go from HS diploma in to PA training . Please do share
@@AdannaThePA hi adana thank you for this I am a respiratory therapist no degree and it is so frustrating taking these prequisite. Can you tell me the schools that will let you in please thank you.
This was a great clip!!! Thank you and everyone who contributed to this. I’m 47 and if all goes well, I maybe able to get into the local PA program in Spring 2022. Working on my prerequisites now. Thank you again!!! Awesome and inspiring clip!!!!
WOW! 56 years old for the gentlemen at one of the schools of "my choice"! This video is a true inspiration! I am 34 years old and felt at times like " i am old. I would have gone to PA school if new about when i was younger." God bless you Adanna!
+Pablo Perez yea his story was pretty amazing. I just appreciate it the fact that he didn't allow what he knew and what he was comfortable with already to stop him from going after what he really wanted.
Wow this is amazing. I love these documentaries. You're allowing other people to see that there are people just like them and help them feel like they are not alone. You're doing great Adanna.
Thank you! I'm also not a native English speaker, have a kid, and will have to roommate with 2 girls I've never met in my life starting September, so it's definitely going to be a challenge! :)
Love this video! So glad you made this. I am a non-traditional student at 41. Pre-PA. It has taken me some time to finally get it together and stop worrying about age. Look forward to watching more of your videos. God bless!
I'll be 38 in august and just started my first semester of PA school. At times I feel a little out of touch from the younger students, but I try not to get caught up in that feeling. I tell myself that it's more so just some insecurity peeking through, and instead realize that these kids have no idea how old I am.. and probably don't care!! Life is too short and you'd be doing yourself and your future patients a disservice if you don't pursue your dreams!! Age is only a number, and life experience is extremely valuable.
I needed this video, sometimes I get in my own head about my age (I’ll be 35-36 by the time I apply) but I believe that everything up to this point has prepared me for my future as a PA! Thanks for this & keep the videos coming. ☺️
+E Martin ask can all have those moments of self doubt, I've definitely had them, but be strong. You got this and if you stay motivated, you'll soon be a great PA student and eventually a great practitioner.
Thank you so much for this video!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I’m 38 currently work as an EMT , was a medical assistant in the past and now pre PA! I’m so excited but terrified at the same time!
I needed this. I’m currently 28 years old , a wife and a mother of 2 small babies and a surgical tech and just starting my prereqs for PA school and I do feel old. But I’d rather be old doing something I love than be old and do something that I dislike.
You can do it girl! I am married and have 3boys and I know the struggle. I am also a surgical technologist and I enjoy it! PA school is where it’s at for me! My husband is a full time nursing student so our life is completely CHAOTIC! You can do it!!!!!
This was very inspiring! I am 26, finishing my bachelor's in Finance with 10 years of experience in the field. I hate it and have a burning desire to become a PA. Since I don't have HCE, I might have to get a certification or associates (about 2 years), work to get HCE (1-2years), and I guess then I may be able to apply to PA programs. At first this was discouraging, but after watching this video, I feel so much better and I'm excited to learn more about what my path will look like. Thank you Adanba, and everyone, for sharing!
Thank you so much for this video. Iam a healthy very active 54 year old. I have a B.S and an M.A in forensics and cj. I really liked learning death investigation. Now Iam thkg about persuing the PathA program which is a PA extender for a pathologist only. I'm taking medical examiner and clinical studies a bit further. I can do this. Yayyyy. Prerequisites this summer sciences expired.
Great video! And one-time for the Respiratory Therapist! 👌 I’m currently a RT working @ two different hospitals and finishing my Bachelors. This motivates me even more to do well. Thanks!
Such a inspirational video.... I am currently completing my undergrad and looking forward to applying to a PA school. Thanks to all of you for sharing your story and giving others like myself hope....
Thanks for this video, I just turned 31 in October and I’m a mom of 3 kids. This coming year(2020) I’m starting my undergrad. I have a long way to go but I can already picture myself there at the finish line. Seeing all these “non traditional” PA students gives me sooo much more motivation. I absolutely love your channel! You’re such an inspiration to me ❤️
When Jasmine said that marketing was a soul-crushing field at minute 19:50 ... I burst into tears. So spot on it hurts. I studied marketing in undergrad and have worked in the business world all throughout my 20s. Started in property management (leasing), moved on to insurance (auto and home) and most recently started doing mortgages. My soul just can't take it anymore. That's why I'm here at 29 years old looking into possible careers that give back and are fulfilling. I can't even begin to thank you Adanna for putting this out there!! And I want to thank everyone who was interviewed for sharing their insights. You all are my heroes!!! I'm not going to lie, becoming a PA looks incredibly intimidating but what an amazingly supportive community this is!!
Dear Adana and all! Thank you for inspiration. I am 34 y.o. and foreigner, and mum of two girls, wife, and PHD in my country. This video helps me to be brave and open mind. I definitely ready to apply in PA school. Thank you so much
The introduction made me laugh, cry, and cringe. Haha Thank you so much for making me feel better being an older student going to PA school. I really appreciate your videos! Keep up the great work.
Hello, Adanna! I found your channel by luck, and I love your videos. They are practical and with real situations like being “too old” to study medicine. And this is my case. I come from Brazil, where I was a nurse for many years, and here in the US, I went back to studying. I am in my second year of BSH in pre-PA and plan to continue to PA. I'm in my 50s and still developing the language, as I've only been moving here for six years. It's not easy at all, but I'm not intimidated by it, I want to move forward. Thanks for sharing 🌸😍
I so appreciate you for making this video! I am CONVINCED I need to go to PA school now. I was an MA once upon a lifetime ago, so I am going to get a job as an MA again and get any prerequisites needed for PA school. Thank you I am 39 with a 3 year old so I will be working for awhile lol!
I'm in my late 20's, working in a biology lab and I'm thinking about taking the plunge. I've seen vids talking about the rigorous curriculum and it's daunting, but this gives me hope, a small speck, but hope nonetheless. I'm apprehensive, to say the least, especially of burning out. You've given me hope and encouragement, thank you.
Omg yessss! I’m so glad I’m not the only one. Though I’m 27, still a prePA grad student trying to be a competitive applicant next April, I know the pressures of society and self doubt when we are non traditional and not as early as everyone else due to circumstances in life. But we are gonna be awesome PAs!!! 😊😊
Thank you! Needed to see this. I am non-traditional and God willing will enter PA school when I am 34 or 35. This was amazing. Keep up the great work, both here and in school!
I started just as I turned 36, will be graduating just as I turn 38. Keep focused on why you are doing this, and you will be able to push through, even when the going is rough. PA school is not easy, it isn't a breezy experience. It's trying and difficult, and there may be a time where you stop and think, "why the HELL am I doing this to myself right now?" Before you enter PA school, write your future self a letter reiterating why you want to be a PA and why you have taken this journey. Then seal it and open it when you need it.
Denver Smith Thank you! That is a great idea. I need to definitely remind myself when things are rough and seem unbearable. Congratulations on your journey through PA school!
Denver, I liked that last thought. We actually did that when we started PA school. I hope I took it seriously because I really want to see what I wrote myself, and I hope it wasn't stupid. lol
Kema, glad that you were inspired that the individuals in this Doc's journey. It's definitely nice to see that it (whatever our "It" is) can be/has been done. Good luck on your PA journey!
Thank you so much for this video! This has been my fear for so long. I am currently working on my LPN licensure and heading to a journey to complete a PA degree. My biggest fear has been.... could i still do this given that I’m 35 years old? This video is greatly inspiring. I admire each and everyone of you that have collaborated in this video. Thank you! Thank you!
Adanna Thank you so much for putting these inspiring videos up. I am currently a non-traditional pre-PA student, at the moment I am on a pre-nursing track, thinking of achieving a BSN, taking the NCLEX and applying to PA school.
I really love this. everyone story is different and inspiring, this gives me so much hope. Im currently an undergraduate student working towards PA school.
I need this and I thank you for this video. I initially wanted to become a doctor but after life happening having children, marriage and divorce I decided I’m doing me and going to make my dream come true. My children are older now and now is the time! I’m 45 and getting started on my journey.
Absolutely AWESOME video! Thank you so much for sharing. My husband is currently a paramedic with 10 years experience and is always saying he's too old to go back to school (27), I think he would be 32 when he started PA school...I'm making him watch this lol.
I was a Pre-Med, then a Pre-Nursing student before I decided to change one more time to medical research and finish my BS in Neuroscience. But I still have that dream of being a healthcare provider like a PA, and I wont ever give that up even if I'm 60 yrs old! This video is encouraging and gives me some hope that yes, it is possible to go back to school one day even if you have a whole career behind you. Besides, being a PA seems a little less demanding and stressful, as well as less existentially challenging than being an MD (just with being a Pre-Med sctudent and reading about doctor's lives--they go through endless hours of suffering to get where they are, so MASSIVE RESPECT.) Wil go back to studying for my test next week. Thanks for reading!
Thank you for your content and specifically this topic!!! As I’m young in my career as an RRT with an associates degree in respiratory care and recently tapped into the desire to want to do and be more in clinical care hence becoming a PA. I’ll be starting this journey (at age 38 & single parent of 2) with obtaining my BS HEALTH SCIENCES (approx. 18 mos) while working and then stepping into the PA - student/enrollment process. This video is giving me the positive energy to still pursue despite the obvious but commonly odds. 🙏🏽 thank you Adanna!! I will revisit this video whenever I have those inevitable doubt moments. ♥️
Yea....this video earned you a new subbie! I’m 31 and haven’t completed undergrad and was wondering if I’ve waited too late! I was encouraged min👏🏾utes👏🏾 into your video!
Thank you so much for this video! I just turned 40 and am looking at applying in the next 3-4 years. I am currently an OT, so I really appreciated hearing the story of the PA in the video who was previously an OT. I have been questioning if I will be too old, but in the end, time will pass anyways and I may as well use it working toward my dream!
I graduated PA School last year and I'm 25. At times I felt like i wasn't mature at all while in school. But some of my classmates were as young as 21 at that time.
Thanks for the video, it inspiring! I got out of the military last year, only completed an association degree on nothing(general studies). Recently considering to go to PA school and become one. I thought I was aiming so high but now I have more encouragement to go through the process. Btw, I’m 38 going to be 39 in 3 months, will see what life will take me to.
This journey can be filled with so many twist and turns but the one thing that you have to remember is the goal.. Once you stay focused on what's in front of you, your path will be clear. Blessings on the journey.
This is so inspiring that I almost teared up! Thank you so much for the inspiration and putting my doubts aside. I was having a hard time because I was planning to become a clinical social worker due to financial need and for the medical experience so the PA path wasn't right for me by the timing. I always knew by the bottom of my heart, that truly, everything happens for a reason, in the right place and the right timing. I am also deaf due to sensori neural deafness but thankful to the technology, I was able to have bilateral cochlear implants to help me to hear. I was so inspired to hear that there are also people like me who became doctors, nurses and versa. Nothing is impossible and I knew I could go for it if it is something I truly want to do. I just hope to God, that he knows I desire to be in the medical field to practice medicine because of the reason that the Healthcare is broken and I want to help solve the problems for the deaf and hard of hearing community. Not one doctor or a nurse I have met, none of them knew sign language except my audiologist who I met, she knew. It is so convenient for the accessibility to be considered so I hope to carry on the voice to be heard. I always fight constantly to be the voice for the deaf community in any issue that I had faced in the past year till now because I always believed that they have the right to do anything they want to and to be involved. So thank you.
I actually been a registered Respiratory Therapist for 7 years I work in the icu and er. And I love this video because I am 43 and I know I am want to be the decision maker because there have been so many times I made suggestions to doctors and them not listening when this is my area of expertise!!!
Currently in Paramedic school and I really want to PA. I’m only 20 and in my head I’m like by the time I get into PA school I’ll be 24-25. But this is so encouraging!
I am 33 years old and am SO NERVOUS about going back to school for my neuroscience Bachelor's Degree and BioChem Minor and then pursuing either PA school or Med School, this has given me hope about not being too old for PA school. I may also consider med school because I would love to be a medical examiner.
The director of my old program was an ME for the city that we lived in and he was a PA. I know that the majority of MEs are MDs but PAs are carving out a space for themselves and that market. Just saying 💁🏽♀️
Thank you so much for this video, you give me hope as a not traditional student who try to apply for that P.A program, I'm feel more secure and definitely more motivate, I can do this, never is late. :)
I'm wondering: where are they now? What feedback or new advice they might now have for those of us who aspire to become PAs? This is the most nerve-racking decision at this point in life but I see that people much older than I are going for it.
I'm 51 years old and finishing up my prereq's for PA school. I hope to get in quick because taking these prereq's classes with teenagers is kind of hard because being the outlier of all these classes has been hard for me.

God bless!
I'm 41 to I feel you ... I was scared at first but I'm going for it ... You do the same !!!!
I’m 30 now. I’ll be applying for PA school at 32
I needed this video, sometimes I get in my own head about my age (I’ll be 35-36 by the time I apply) but I believe that everything up to this point has prepared me for my future as a PA!
No problem, thank you for watching! And yeah stay excited and fade out the terrified, lol You'll be okay!
I needed this. I’m currently 28 years old , a wife and a mother of 2 small babies and a surgical tech and just starting my prereqs for PA school and I do feel old. But I’d rather be old doing something I love than be old and do something that I dislike.
+ThisIsReal yes girl! Do what you love because your love for whatever you're doing is what will help get you through the tough times. Stay motivated!
You can do it girl! I am married and have 3boys and I know the struggle. I am also a surgical technologist and I enjoy it! PA school is where it’s at for me! My husband is a full time nursing student so our life is completely CHAOTIC! You can do it!!!!!
Me stumbling on this channel today has been the best thing ever!! All my fears are been addressed in every video I have watched! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Well thank you for watching! ☺
The oldest person in my PA cohort graduated high school when I was 4! (She's 39 and I am 25) it's never too late!
Thank you for this video and thank you to the participants. I am an older applicant and loved hearing everyone's perspectives about their journeys.
+Lisa Passalacqua this is definitely motivation for you to keep going!
No problem, and thank you for watching :)
God bless you for this video. I had a lot of self doubt, but this truly inspired me. All these incredible people!
LoveSeoul you're welcome! I'm sure everyone that participated is happy that they could be an inspiration to others!
Keep up the great work.
awesome stories I'm 41 and I will be looking toward PA school ..and Yes I thought I was old ..I'm so glad I viewed this link ...
Thank you I am 39 with a 3 year old so I will be working for awhile lol!
i'm 41 with a 6yr old and 17yr old. Im in school and working. you can do it
Lakeisha Gibson Thank you 🙏🏾 so much for sharing that 😭♥️ You are awesome 👏🏾. How are you feeling about the journey?
I am working on my 7 required prerequisites in preparation for my PA school application. This video is my reassurance! Thank you!
Glad it could help.
Thank you for taking the time to make videos on your journey.
+MITCHE Mitch you're welcome!
Omg yessss! I’m so glad I’m not the only one. Though I’m 27, still a prePA grad student trying to be a competitive applicant next April, I know the pressures of society and self doubt when we are non traditional and not as early as everyone else due to circumstances in life. But we are gonna be awesome PAs!!! 😊😊
Yes you are!!!!!!
Thank you for this ! Just the confirmation I needed. 43 and starting from scratch 🙏🏾
Thank you! Thank you!
I feel like i will continuously watch this video while on my journey. 😊
😭😂🙌 I remember ALL of those commercials haha! Loved this!
Yeah those commercials bring back some memories :) Thanks for watching!
Just the video I was looking for as an older potential PA student. THANK YOU!!
Welcome 🤗
Adanna Thank you so much for putting these inspiring videos up. I am currently a non-traditional pre-PA student, at the moment I am on a pre-nursing track, thinking of achieving a BSN, taking the NCLEX and applying to PA school.
I’m loving this video. I’ve always wanted to go to PA school but I fell into a lab and worked instead. Now at 27, I’m ready to try
This made me feel so at peace with my decision and also made me view your channel being less intense LOL sorry! Thanks ADANNA!
Intense! Lol noooo this is supposed to be easy going 😂
I am 46 years old and I am just starting my journey to becoming a PA
You can do it!
@@AdannaThePA 💞thank you
I’m 35 and just got accepted to PA school! If your really determined and willing to make some sacrifices you can definitely do this.
I really love this. everyone story is different and inspiring, this gives me so much hope. Im currently an undergraduate student working towards PA school.
Keep going! The road isn't always easy but you got this!
What a beautiful video to me. I am so thankful I came across this video. I needed to hear this.
Thank you! As a nontraditional student, I am often plagued with questions about my readiness to return to school and affirmations of ageism.
Your entire channel has helped me tremendously, Thank you and God Bless you
Thank you for the blessings I appreciate it.
Adanna The PA your very welcome God willing I will be applying next year
I need this and I thank you for this video.
Besides, being a PA seems a little less demanding and stressful, as well as less existentially challenging than being an MD (just with being a Pre-Med sctudent and reading about doctor's lives--they go through endless hours of suffering to get where they are, so MASSIVE RESPECT.)
Wil go back to studying for my test next week. Thanks for reading!
Your videos have helped me so much. So inspiring!!! Lots of love from Chicago ❤️
HeyitsDianuh so glad all of this is not in vain! Glad it could be of help!
Adanna this brought tears to my eyes, thank you so much for making this! 🙏🏻 💕
Ayyyee!!! Thank you for watching! And yeah girl, 31 is like being 21 for PA School... you'll be just fine.
This is so comforting to me! Thank you for making this happen! It’s never too late!
Your very welcome!
I graduated PA School last year and I'm 25. At times I felt like i wasn't mature at all while in school. But some of my classmates were as young as 21 at that time.
Congrats on graduating!
From my plans I will be applying for PA school around 28 and I always worried about it, thanks for this video
Thank you so much for this, need the encouragement every day as I embark on this career change
Currently in Paramedic school and I really want to PA. I’m only 20 and in my head I’m like by the time I get into PA school I’ll be 24-25. But this is so encouraging!
Great and inspiring video
Thank you! :)
Love this video!!! I asked my self this dreaded question.
Iris, hopefully your answer has been, no I'm not!
I feel so revived after watching this. Thank you Adanna ❤
Watching this to make myself feel better about starting PA school at 28
I Love all of your videos but this is by far my favorite video!!!
❤️ thanks for this !!!
Inspirational!! Thanks for sharing. Peace.
No problem and Thank you for watching!
That guy looks way much Younger then 56!!! I need the secret...
lol I'm sure he appreciates that comment!
This is so awesome, please tell Alexis. I absolutely adore her accent.💖
Thank you so much for this video, you give me hope as a not traditional student who try to apply for that P.A program, I'm feel more secure and definitely more motivate, I can do this, never is late. :)
I definitely needed to see this on my journey. Thank you 😊 🙏🏽
Well glad we could be of service 😊
Keep up the good videos...love them
Thanks
I'm wondering: where are they now? What feedback or new advice they might now have for those of us who aspire to become PAs? This is the most nerve-racking decision at this point in life but I see that people much older than I are going for it.
I think that will make a great video
I’m still 😮at the intro. Times were good
Awesome video, very motivational & informative, inspirational.Ty Adanna.
I am aspiring to be a PA! :) I need to finish my BS, but I know Medicine is the field I want to work in.
Quiet interesting and informative video
This was very good info, and inspiring.
Thanks
Glad it gives hope
This is so inspiring! Thank you!
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching :)
I'm 51 years old and finishing up my prereq's for PA school. I hope to get in quick because taking these prereq's classes with teenagers is kind of hard because being the outlier of all these classes has been hard for me.
Did you finish?
@@jasneetkaur764 I did get my BS in Biology but still trying to get into PA school.
You're so inspiring 💗
I love this video!
Lol... 🤦🏾...they were actually some of the best years if my life...! Age truly is a state of mind... 😊
These videos are awesome thank you
You are very welcome, thank you for watching! 🙂
Very inspirational
Thank you for this awesome content! This gives a lot of us hope ! & the motivation to keep pushing ❤️
