Special Hobby, Fairey Fulmar Mk.II, 1/48, Stopmotion

- Here's my little stopmotion experiment of a famous WWII plane stationed on a carrier in 1:48 scale from Special Hobby. At the end of the clip I mixed some original footage of my own - holiday clip - to create the illusion of plane standing on the deck. Unfortunately I haven't got any Figure to bring some other life to the scene. Hope you enjoy it though...

That, sir, is amazing.
thanks ;-)
Quite brilliant. Not only the modelling, but the presentation too. 👍🇬🇧🇺🇦
Thank you very much 😊
The video itself is a piece of art. The way you edited it and made it look super aesthetic, compliments the finished model in a stunning fashion.
thank you for your kind words ;-)
Tom... Your work is defiantly encouraging a new generation of scale model builders and as well....animators...to join in this hobby/craft. ThankYou!
Thanks for your kind words - good to hear my work would be some kind of inspiration ;-)
Love the build. Those old Fairey planes are so interesting looking. I've got another Special Hobby kit ( the Firefly ) in my stash I'm going to tackle one day. I also learned that Alclad makes military color paints. I literally had no idea.
Very funny way to use Marmite lol. Great looking kit. Very nicely done.
As always Tom! A pleasure to watch and a very special kit built! Amazing work
Thank you ;-)
I stumbled across this video from searching around on RUclips, after visiting the Fleet Air Arm museum recently and seeing the Fulmar in all its glory. I must just stop and say, I can't imagine the time & effort that has gone into this - it's truly a masterpiece. Hats off to you sir/madam.
Thank you very much 😊
veeeery gooodddd goood job.....on edition and model!!!!!
Thank you very much 😊
I can watch your vids all day, mate 👍
I'm happy to hear...
Your work is just superb, museum quality craftsmanship, with video to match. Thanks for sharing
I don't like your work, I LOVE it! You are a genius Sir, both as a modeller and film maker. Simply incredible creations. Thank you for sharing your talents. One can hope to aspire. Cheers
Tom, Yet again another wonderful build. The stop motion ballet of your creativity is a shear delight. Great paint job and weathering. Bill.
Thank you - It made a lot of fun doing the moves with the tiny parts, but was hard to coordinate these actors ;-)
Fulmar was always a fave of mine. Great job on an ill-fitting kit. (I did one). Love the stop-motion.
I hope you don't get too tired of hearing this but...Your builds and videos are just fabulous and beyond entertaining!!! Still awesome and mind blowing!!! A huge fan here!!!!
Thanks a lot - to be honest, I can't get enough from kind words ;-)
A completely pice of art and history.👍
Great job Tom, your models are a example to follow for me.
I am pleased to hear ;- Thank you..
the sheer time put into these pieces of art is unimaginable! You have such patience. thank you for your hard work!
Thanks - you're welcome 😊
that was the best thing in the history of everything
Thank you... too much honour ;-)
+Tom Grigat I was very pleased that you did a fairey fulmar as I am facinated with the plane ever since I visited the fleet air arm museum
I wished I could have had the same opportunity. There are very few picts at the internet...
Like I said before, love watching your work, beautiful!!
I'm glad you still like it 😊
Stunning work, absolute fantastic
thank you ;-)

Thank you very much 😊
Fantastic effects, and a great finished model
Thanks 😊
Truly the work of real genius.... awesome!
+Hans Anderson thank you 😊
Thanks for taking the time to do all this! It takes us long enough to make a decent model, but you decide to animate it too!
That looks amazing btw
It's my kind of passion for our hobby and it's good to notice other people like it as well ;-)
brilliant
thank you ;-)
This model was shut down in droves. Great job as always.
Another simply stunning production and result!
Thank you ;-)
I was anxiously waiting for a ww2 plane build from you, and what a wonderful job you did!
beautiful video and audio! can't wait to see another
I am glad to hear it and new ww2 planes are going to be build very soon ;-)
+Tom Grigat excellent!!! I'll be watching out for them 😀👍
Beautiful😎😎😮👍
Phenomenal work and a fantastic video!! 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻🥇🏆
Thanks a lot 😊
Thank you for your achievements.
You are a damn good model maker.
Thank you for your kind words...
Gorgeous model . . . Marmite for chipping parts? How does that work??
Stunning work, a beautiful model of an otherwise less than mediocre aircraft, if I remember the only 1/72 model was from FROG. I liked expecially the corrosion under the canopy.
Whomst the fuck gave it thumbs down?! This was perfection again! Never stop doing this! Love your art brother
super build. very well done
Thank you ;-)
You are a genius, Sire!
Thank you 😊
Simply superb!!! 👍
Great. 2 thumbs up.
Wow.
Simply amazing!
Thank you ;-)
A true artist
thanks
😊
Super!!!
nice paint
Thanks
EPIC
Impressionnant!
merci ;-)
I love the animation
Glad to hear ;-)
excellent job. beautiful as always
I'm glad to hear.
Fantastic build Tom..
thanks ;-)
This is art!
thanks ;-)
another great one
Thanks...
Wieder mal eine wundervolle Arbeit von Dir. Deine Videos sind einfach grandios!!
Herzlichen Dank. Wie läuft's mit Deinen Stopmotion-Aktionen? Hast Du was in Arbeit?
Hatte mal überlegt, ob ich mein Video "Attack of the giant insects" noch mal in Stopmotion neu auflege.
Class
fantastic as usual, well done mate!
thanks...
Once again a video masterpiece
Thanks
1000 thumbs up.👍 Greetings from Germany. An old enamy.😉 Wish for Focke Wulf FW-190 Butcher Bird.
👍
Always deep impressive!
thank you ;-)
looks like a spitfire but bigger with extra windows
OK, you have taken the scale modelling presentation to a different level!!! Any issues with RUclips and the new law about the suitability of videos for children?
amazing has always, keep up the good work!
Thank you - I'll keep up trying ;-)
Awesome work Tom - want to build one now! :)
Thanks - and do it, it's a nice kit ;-)
love your work :)
I am pleased to hear ;-)
Have you ever thought about doing cutaways? Show some of that detail that bets hidden when everything is closed up?
I'm not a real fan of cut aways when they're only done to show what's behind. I prefer opened maintenance areas or damaged surfaces after an accident or so. Something real which let the underlying structure see. But for me it's the process of working on the details what counts.
The most interesting thing about the Fairy Fulmar, was due to the lack of rear defensive armourment in desperation the radio operator/navigator were given a Thompson machine gun.
How effective they were I have no idea!
Interesting info...
hey Tom it's a best work congratulatios
+Andrés Jiménez thanks 😊
I've seen several of your stop motion video builds and they've all been, without exception, amazingly good. One thing I did notice on this one, though, is that you've made the common mistake of adding chipping to the propeller blades. As I understand it, this would not have happened to a real aircraft as this would have affected the performance and safety of the plane.
Can you make a Japanese kawasaki ki 45 toryu please
I love your bulids! I cant believe you have so little views!
I'm glad you like it and hopefully my fanbase grows over time ;-) I am still working on my next movies. But it's a very time consuming thing...
Tom Grigat yeah I know I did some 2d animations which are way easier but also requires a lot of time. I cross my fingers for your future on RUclips :)
Thank you ;-)
Super!
Vielen Dank, mein Lieber ;-) Schöne Grüße...
That's my granddaughter's favourite... Also mine.
Ausgezeichnet!
DAMN! I knew Marmite wasn’t there to be eaten!!!
EXCELLENT!!! :D
These videos shouldn't be accessible to everyone...
They should be RATED......"TG" ( "TOO GOOD" )
And you Sir;...you are (n.o.t.w)..... =)
Thank you for your kind words ;-)...
You must be great with women, ....... so much patience ;-)
Very impressive!
Thanks, nice assumption, but in fact I'm very impatient with my projects 😊
Wow, then it must be a difficult task!
You name it😂
MegaSuper!!!
thank you ;-)
Scrolling through, went past because of lethargy and unfamiliarity with the plane. Then TOMs registered and I woke up like a Yorkie hearing a leaf rustle realizing I could not miss one of your videos.
I'm pleased to hear 😊
I like your style Sir. Your work is wonderful.
The propeller, Is it just slid into place? How do you keep it from pulling off. It didn't look like you glued or melted a hub on the inserted end of the shaft. I like the propellers to spin but they also need to be permanently attached to the aircraft. Or do they? I would hate for the model to lose it in the future so how.
Thank you.
I'm pleased you like my work. The propeller is actually lose fit to achieve nice and even rotation just by blowing some air with a hairdryer. For me it was prior getting some sort of spinning simulation for foto purposes. To get this I always use a combination of two metal tubes from Albion Alloys.
Do the Fairey firefly
excelentes trabajos y videos, te has ganado mi suscribcion!!!!! Saludos desde chile. n_n
Gracias por las palabras bonitas ;-)
very nice detail work. I really liked the guns
Outstanding as usual! But did I see Marmite over there? I'd love to see what chicken tikka masala would produce.
Yes, you're right, it's Marmite I used for chipping purposes .... ☺
Meisterwerk! Kunstwerk!
Tom, your videos are so wonderfully creative. I have been modeling for over 40 years now. I often turn to RUclips for hints and tips. I recently purchased a Hasegawa 1/32 scale Japanese Zero for $27 USD. From what I understand this kit is quite an old tooling. To improve the detail I plan on ordering a color, photo-etched cockpit kit, and a resin undercarriage kit with wheels to improve the overall accuracy of the model. I may also have to scribe some lines on the cowling, as I have read that this version of Hasegawa's Zero has very little if any panel lines on this critical part. I have minimal experience with photo-etched parts, or scribing. Any specific tips or tricks, (tools or techniques), you could recommend would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Craig C.
Thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately I haven't got any special tipps for dealing with etched parts, sorry.
