The Ukraine war is a major war and it has worldwide ramifications but it is far from a worldwide conflict just yet. As a historian I would say that it is not "WW3 already". Not even close. Leave the labels for later. Much later. What we need to focus on right now is that Russia must not be allowed to benefit in any way from their horrific violence. We need to prepare for a larger conflict but that doesn't mean that it is under way now or even inevitable.
I think the history books will say that WWIII started by russia by an attack on Ukraine in 2022.

@@brianquigley1940 I've been saying to my friends and family for some time now that these times feel eerily similar to the mid to late 30's (not that I was around then but I've read about it) with the rise of authoritarianism and the shameless use of violence to achieve political ends. It still doesn't mean that we've entered WW3, but we need to be careful or a worldwide conflict could happen all over again. If there is one thing that history teaches us is that we humans have a penchant for war. But, as far as I'm concerned, we're not doomed to repeat past mistakes if we're willing to learn from them. We have to achieve a delicate balance between not caving in to aggressive dictators and not stirring up a larger conflict.
Keep the prices up and fears up . Manipulating at it's best.

You are overreacting. A draft wouldn't be needed from the US as long as it's just Russia involved. Europe has enough men to take on Russian. America will play a role but we wouldn't immediately be putting American boots on the ground wed play more of a role helping our European allies gain air and naval superiority and provide the European air forces unlimited time in the air with America's air refueling capacity. We'd also have logistic experts from the US placed in Europe.

The US and European countries preparing for war with Russia is a sensible precaution. I've seen it all before, living through the cold war, when the US and western European countries were ready to go to war with the Soviet Union.

Even with the US' mistakes and wars since WW2, the post WW2 Pax Americana period has been the most peaceful, prosperous period in human history, with the greatest advances in quality of life, democracy and self determination for people around the world of any time period in history. If China or Russia dominate the world, it will be much more chaotic, authoritarian, and the liberal democracies that live in peace in Europe will be much worse off

I think the "soft invasion" started 2 years ago actually
China already is taking the Eastern reaches of Russia. They've been settling there and moving the border inch by inch for decades. It is too remote for Moscow to really register what is happening and it's too far away and logistically impossible to counter for the Muscovites. Chinese settlements are springing up all along that border and then suddenly it is Chinese land and not Russian - and there appears to be nothing they can do about it.

Nato is an excuse. Putin has always wanted Ukraine back and he could invade non Nato Ukrane only. If Russia was a good neighbor, there would be no need to join nato in order to be secured.
