- The Hardcore Survivor challenge requires 4 players to reach Rank 1 on brand new accounts with permadeath on every character being sacrificed. This year, me and my friends @Ayrun , @TheJRM & @hens333 are attempting it again. They will also be uploading videos about this challenge, so check them out! This year we also have a new rule; we start with 0 perks and unlock 1 extra perk slot as we reach a new rank color!

For someone who used to be a 911 operator, it's funny how Otz gets his panic voice so much quicker than everyone else.

Even the viewers can feel the insane pressure from this sentence alone. Buckle up and for the people value paid off very well.
That's a very lucky play, because Hens and JRM throwed almost the whole round...They keep chasing the killer, giving free hits and even healing while in chase and next to the huntress while the other was being chased. Honestly it only shows how broken are the 3rd health states, if the killer hit that hatchet, the match was over and they all lost all 4 characters...they were way too overconfident because the killer only got his 1st hook after 4 gens were done and thought they were going to win either way and their mistakes started catching up to them.

@@zxxDarkLightxxzThey probably just recorded a similar POV in a custom match, that's why it's zoomed in and you can't see the HUD because then you'd see it's just one survivor not all four of them.

I am so glad that hardcore goes into the next round even though Dowsey is gone. Hens is a great choice!
Dowsey ended up being a huge crybaby, so it is for the better.

@@joeschmoe6516 I mean he criticized the company/game for horrible decisions and they literally took away fog whisperer/cosmetics he had in game. His response of playing less seems extremely fair considering the company literally retaliated against him for opinions on the game. I respect him way more for boycotting the game than bending the knee and apologizing to appease the baby response BHVR had to his criticism.

Im glad youre taking over the well edited version of the series! This series is one of my favorites, me and my gf used to watch every episode when it came out. Too bad Dowsey fell off of DBD, but im just happy the series will continue.

Funny that Ayrun asked everyone to be quiet while he was in chase because he couldn't concentrate and then immediately started talking over other people's chases about how hard it was for him to concentrate.

He used to be such a cute lad. I prefer JRM’s energy now. No sweat. Or hens, silent skill…into his hearty laugh. Otz and ayrun together is funny. So that helps

If you’ve ever watched ayrun you’d know he never just gets outplayed or makes a mistakes. Anytime he takes a hit or goes down he has an excuse. I was checking chat scratching his face or something. Dudes good and pretty entertaining but that’s always been my biggest complaint when I watch his vids.
And the huntress stopped chasing him way before he was saying "can we chill?" Matter of fact, she was chasing someone else at that point. He had like 5 seconds of a chase

If he's outplayed there is always an excuse; if he gets hit it's because the ping is too high thanks to Hens; despite being toxic on stream he always finds a way to remove these parts on his videos.

i love how this was edited, i forgot that the video was only 20 minutes long and was at the edge of my seat after that huuntress game. loved the narration in between high action games, it felt like i was really watching some tv drama lol

In general he is quite toxic on his stream, he always blames his downs and deaths on ping or other things instead of just accepting when he clearly made a mistake. His videos are edited heavily so you don't see that normally.
The wildest part was that hens was the one being chased. Ayrun was fine, but he kept trying to make it about himself.

I've seen everyone's videos at this point, but I really appreciate yours showing all of the perspectives and the way it's edited to follow the action as opposed to only showing your individual gameplay.

The survivors I go against when I sit down for a "relaxing" game of DBD
JRM ignoring the pallet then failing the flashy save. going down shortly after & almost killing entire team all to taunt killer at gate then go down again is the most soloQ thing i’ve ever seen
Huntress was too far for a pallet save
I felt so bad for Otz when he was the only one left standing. I can only imagine the pressure.
Love to see Hardcore Survivor back! While I do miss the unique energy Dowsey had with the other three and his editing style was prestine, I'm stoked for this series!

Otz, I can't lie, it's a REAL shame you didn't attach a heartmonitor to yourself this season of Hardcore. The levels of terror/stress/frustration playing together means your BPM must be through the roof!

I love the hardcore series! Honestly though one of the reasons I like it is the ability of the you all to work with less than meta perks. I enjoy seeing Survivor pushed to it’s limits, but it is a bit limiting to only see a full build in the last few runs. I’d say maybe next time you could have a clause where you dont’t repeat perks on anyone (can’t bring Dead Hard two matches in a row, etc.) love the series and can’t wait for episode 2.
I remember last time Otz told chat that he wasn't actually friends with his hardcore survivor teammates, just "associates" or something like that. So good to hear him introduce them as his friends this time.

ayrun's version of this video was just him juicing the killer for the entire duration, otz's version is much more dramatic and intense, funny to see the difference in editing (I prefer the otz version)
otz has the same editor (poggy) who used to edit dowsey's hardcore videos; they've done a great job imo
That's why I stopped watching Ayrun's hardcore solo survivor series after a few episodes. It's mostly a big chase compilation. Apart prom the high-quality editing itself, it's providing the context of the games instead of just the chases that makes the difference for me.

I was super happy when i saw the 1 hour compilation at JRM channel, you can't imagine how happy i'am right now seeing that you will upload the challenge in a "documentary" style 😁
I LOVE hardcore. this episode was good but I feel it's missing a key aspect it had before which is tension. I feel too many matches got the cut and we didn't get to see them. I am happy with more episodes, longer episodes, I want to see most of the matches especially at the start. I feel like instead of knowing about nearly every match like before, this is more of a highlight reel. I felt like the tension wasn't as earned too because all deaths were off screen or skipped
Tension was the no.1 aspect of hardcore which made it the best dbd content, and I don't like that every death was just told to us rather than shown. Instead of knowing ash dies and "come back next time", I'd much rather of seen the match up to where ash dies play normally, and then you end the video half way through the match to REALLY get us invested and give us the little talk after.
Maybe I'm nitpicking since I'm a bit of a editor too so I just overthink xD but I really love telling story through editing and I love the journey a lot

Agree, I didn’t see David’s death in any of the edits and I wasn’t there for the stream, so I don’t know how it happened and why it happened… maybe they’ve got salty and decided to not show it to the viewers
Agreed! The pacing feels too fast this time. Hopefully less deaths will be skimmed over in the future. Otherwise I'm stoked for the return of the series.
editor Poggy here, this is definitely a big consideration in the way we approach the edits. Day 1 was largely boring games, even with the deaths, which is why they were skipped over this time around, as it would be a lot of build up for very little pay off. We basically agreed, despite the deaths, we wanted to just get off Day 1 at the first episode, and keep it short as a pilot return to form. Expect much bigger things to come in future episodes!
100%, the deaths are the big narrative "twists" in Hardcore, and were always played up for maximum emotional impact in Dowsey's videos, which made them so good. This is a fine series, but it lacks that storytelling punch of the previous Hardcore seasons, and also a lot of the custom graphics and video work.

I don't usually tune in much but I absolutely loved watching Hardcode survivor from 2022, thanks for this one, thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one when you're all rested from this effort!

Normally I play killer rather chill, try to give hatch no tunnels etc. This video has inspired me. I will slug for 4k's all weekend and tunnel the weakest player I can find.

I managed to get from ash 4 to iridescent 1 a month ago both as a surv and as a killer and it was possibly the most painful thing I did in this game and it almost made me quit entirely at some points.
You are extremely ballsy for doing it with this many restrictions on top.
Same. Me and a homie tried doing the same thing about 1 or 2 years ago. I got iri 1 as a survivor and I got to gold 4 as killer before I stopped because I was about to quit playing the game completely 😂😂my friend managed to get iri 1 on both and that was when he started taking massive breaks from the game which he does to this day lol. This game is something else man
Getting iri 1 as killer isn’t so bad, but I’d tear my hair out if I had to do it on surv
@@albinocatI actually had an easier time as a surv except for the last 2-3 levels because I kept getting paired with players who ragequit immediately.
As a killer I decided to do it right as the made for this meta happened and it made for some excruciating games, and I pretty much only used pinhead since it's the killer I'm best at.
@@XyerDark I play a few different killers, including pyramid head, oni, huntress, singularity, trapper, and probably trickster after the live update goes through for console(it gets rid of the horrible recoil).
@@albinocat Oh I do play other killers too, Pinhead is just the one that gives me the most flexibility.
