I rate this 11/10 even with the abrupt ending, because I disagree that it doesn't have an end. It does. Miles is internally accepting of his identity as spider man and is ready to tell his parents, even if he isn't able to yet. Meanwhile, Gwen gets to assemble her own team of outcasts after trying so hard not to be one. They finish their character arcs, it's just that the larger overall plot arc remains, and I think that's fine.
You are amazing and I’m so glad you feel the exact same way I do. People who say there is no climax, seemingly didn’t watch the train scene? I do not get the take that this isn’t one movie at all
This movie kinda had a reverse "what's up danger" moment when Miles comes back "home" and he's just running while the words of Miguel, Peter and others echo through his head. While the "what's up danger" scene in the first movie was triumphant and a representation of Miles' rise, this one signifies his lowest point.
Miles truly feels alone at that point, among those who can relate to him at least. The very people who helped him accept the mantle thrust upon him, he feels have completely and utterly betrayed him. Gotta feel awful for him… but he has shown that he’s incredibly smart, aware, and downright powerful. I mean, come on. Venom Strike and Camouflage are busted, only Insomniac Spider-Man would have held him down, and he never managed to get a hand on Miles.
For those wondering where spot was for like half the movie: there were deleted scenes of him getting mocked in a HISHE villain pub by other villains and in the post credit scene he solos all of them for an hour right after mumbahttan
God I love that shot of Gwen standing upside down with the graffiti words and Miles New York literally calling out for her to fall for him and let go of the fear and just do what she wants to be happy. Bit she holds on to the ledge and cheats it, enjoying the view and the beauty of what it would be like with him while also keeping a distance and never letting herself go. I'm so ready for the third movie to have the arc of her learning from miles that doing your own thing and taking the same leap of faith he took won't end in disaster but in something so perfectly them.
I'm blown away by this movie! Such perfection! I've never experienced representation like this, ever! And I'm not a minority myself, but THIS is what I want from other movies when they talk about representation! It's not skin deep, it informs the movie and it's not needing to be justified, it just is. Brilliant.
They already made Beyond the Spiderverse. I think both movies will be similar in pace because they were pretty much made as one. They are simply making us wait to see the conclusion of the story to build up the hype around the sequel. It doesn’t take away from the movie for me personally, I was taught that good things come to those who wait. I hope there are more installments in this franchise after Beyond the Spideverse. I really love what they’re doing with these movies.
Exactly. It's only the impatient ones who whine about the cliffhanger. Patience is key. I'm on the opposite with you on the last sentence. Yes, i would want more, BUT, i don't think they'd be able to top the ending of Beyond, ever. It would slowly die down and that would suck to see. It should end with a bang, instead of a flame slowly dying out.
@@strawberryscentedchlorofor9935 I can agree with that sentiment. I just really like the characters, and I hope that there is more content with them. I know it will be nearly impossible for them to top Beyond the Spiderverse, but I probably will still want to see more of the characters. I feel like these movies are incredibly character driven, and there are always more places they can take Spider characters. For instance, they could use the original Spiderverse comic book plot and do a movie or two with that story line. I would really like to see them do a movie on that comic. Of course for me, if too many of the best characters die in Beyond, they should probably stop making installations in the franchise. As long as they keep my big three characters of the Spiderverse, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Peter B Parker. I think as long as those characters are on screen, the movie will be enjoyable to watch. Although I can agree with your sentiment about them ending with Beyond. The quality of movies have dropped recently, and sequels to franchises have historically been bad. But if they keep the same people on the job, I don’t see why they couldn’t make more movies with the same quality and character development.
The voice actors have said they haven't recorded yet and there are strikes on. I'm assuming a lot of the non-writng can still be worked on. Still, I was shocked to learn that the movie isn't already done
That's just straight up, not true. They created these 2 movies as if they were one yes. But the rest of the story isn't animated it's simply been conceived. Sony literally said that they were debating where to end the second movie, even up to just a year before it came out.
6:56 in this scene when i first saw the movie, when uncle aaron punches the punching bag, with the animation and the way that was done, i genuinely thought aaron just fucking obliterated and killed miles cause of the silence which was just filled with a sudden kind of splattering sound, the animation which looked like to me chunks and blood flying to the side, i full on thought that he just blew opened miles skull with that punch. obviously i realized after that wasnt the case but still that punch had the whole cinema silent when he threw it cause damn it was a powerful one.
there was a climax, the conversation between gwen and her dad. that was a climax no doubt, i would even call miles saying he's spiderman to his mom is a climax as well. also this movie is very fast paced in the second half but not throughout the whole thing. The first half is more slow paced which perfectly sets up the second half
I honestly freaked out when I saw the movie come to an end. I was like, where Spots??? I didn't even know about him till this movie. Can't wait to see how Miles gets out of that 42 dimension. Seeing how he ended up there was mindblowing, loved the twists in the plots. I certainly enjoyed the part 2 confirmation since l had no clue. Seeing Gwen's story and all the new spider people was so cool! Can't wait.
It was absolutely beautiful, the perfect successor to the last movie and it was just written so well. The movie was absolutely stunning with the animation and the plot, it was incredibly messy but that’s exactly how a multiverse movie would go, there’s thousands of spider people and they all sorta just show up a bit and leave. My main complaint is that their spider sense was stupid over the top this movie. I mean come on you gotta admit just how absolutely fast these characters could think and act, the instinct was real. XD
While I love this incarnation of Miguel, it's a very different take from the comic. I'd like to eventually see a more comic faithful version cause I've liked the character since his original run. Still, this is a fascinating take on him. Every character is a masterclass on execution through adaptation.
Another excellent review!!! Always look forward to hearing your thoughts on stuff like this, your thoughts are awesome!! Can’t wait for the Mutant Mayhem one 😁😁
I’ve watched it twice. I plan on watching it at least twice more before it leaves theatres. The last time I went to a movie four plus times was The Matrix, and that’s my favourite movie of all time. I’m thinking I’m putting it firmly in my top five movies ever.
I hate when people say that he was a race-bent Peter Parker in the original comics. He wasn't, he has always been his own character. He's more fleshed out now, for sure, but he's always been different from Peter.
Yes, I agree the people who say Miles isn't Spiderman is because he's black. I also think these people think Peter should be the only Spiderman and no one else. Which I find to stupid.
Same here. The idea of someone else taking the mantle is inconceivable to them. Still haven't found any good reason for not calling Miles Spider-Man. It doesn't take Peter's status as the 1st Spider-Man away either.
@@joyc.e.7511this might be piss off some people but Spiderman is a title, not a name. I would also say all superhero names aren't names, they're titles. Titles that are pasted down to each generation.

I’ve seen that kind of stuff before, this shouldn’t need to be said but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to dress as a fictional character that doesn’t share your skin color. This weird colorism when it comes to cosplay is genuinely disheartening. I’m very sorry you’ve had to experience that, hopefully it hasn’t discouraged you from cosplaying altogether, there’s nothing wrong with you dressing as nezuko just as there’s nothing wrong with a white kid wanting to dress up as miles.
Racists can be pretty good at pretending NOT to be racists. Since it's generally frowned upon to be openly discriminatory. Gotta hide it behind something that seems reasonable on the surface.
What are you talking about? There is literally no one hating on Miles because he's black. That's not even the Spider-Man debate. What people are saying is that Miles shouldn't exist in the same universe as regular Spider-Man because they live like 5min from each other
Let's stop pretending like there aren't quite a few Spider-man fans whose hatred for Miles is racially motivated. They just hide it behind being dedicated Spider-Man fans. That's how a lot of racism operates these days.
I was super excited to see a video about a movie I loved but I'm ngl I turned this off in under a minute because of the massive assumptions about people who only accept Peter Parker as spiderman being racists.
