It's because Madden sucks, we deserve a better football sim
Reece isn’t going to get star dev because he’s not a starter on the base 11. If he was HB 1 or WR1 or WR2, he would be a lot more likely to. But unless he’s in one of those spots, they just won’t care. Never have I seen a backup( on the depth chart screen) get a breakout scenario
honestly insane how they haven't fixed that. Problem has been in madden since 2019. I had a rookie WR that was WR3 get 4 TDs in a single game and i got no breakout challenge once so ever.. Finally move him up and first game he gets 1 TD and gets a breakout challenge LMAO WHAT?

Slot corner has the highest chance of increasing speed, that's why everyone says to upgrade slot
Each player gets 2 upgrades to speed in a career…. Unless u change thei position then they can get another one….
I think you should do a poll and see if the audience wants a manual breakoout challange for reece. and make it tough like 150 yards and 2 TDs to be able to be upgraded

For real man that guy is being screwed by the way Dev breakouts work. I've had average games with players and they get a chance while Reese can have 3 TD's and be effective in the Run and Pass game fighting for catches and extra yards and still doesn't get the chance to upgrade. He's a Superstar caliber player.

Fields was special at moments again today as he always is against Dangus’ Lions putting up 400 yards and 4 TDs, but the 3 INTs killed their chances at a victory.

Oruwariye is such a cool corner in this, he gets beat fairly often and he is especially susceptible to the deep ball against speed, but when he reads a play correctly and diagnoses a route; he is one of the best corners I've seen. The slant jumping he has started doing is awesome.
It really is like he has limited physical tools but a great football IQ and feel for what receivers are trying to do
Amani has been unconscious lately. Gotta give credit to coach dangus for that adjustment for moving him to CB2
I think everyone here will agree it’s time to just give Reece star dev. Then set a goal to hit for end of season and if he hits it give him superstar. We get the realism but madden is broken and it’s time we right their wrongs.

An option for the whole Reece star dev situation could be to give yourself an imaginary ”breakout situation”. Say Reece has to get 100+ yards or 2 TDs, and if he does you upgrade him to star dev. Just a way to make it a bit more realistic!
Day 10 of asking Bengal to do a breakdown of the various different roles of each position. Offensively, X vs slot receivers, but probably more in depth for defense, with the different d line techs, and Will, Sam, and Mike LBs, and boundary vs slot corners. Maybe include the "prototypical" NFL player who embodies the various spots on the field. Love the vids and analysis!

The "power" and "finesse" are in reference to d line moves. High power means you can defend against power moves better, same with finesse.

In defensive adjustments go to cornerback matchup and set to “by speed”. This will put your fastest corners on the opponents fastest receivers
I don't care that the other Rookie has X-Factor while Ford only has Star. Ford is the better player and will outperform the other Rookie for their whole Careers. He'll get Superstar by the end of this year and X-Factor within 3 years for sure. On the way, he'll continue to prove he was the right choice for this Lions team.

He's a backup and they don't get breakout challenges. If he plays him as a hybrid he won't get upgraded and that's fair cause it's his role. Either a natural upgrade or no upgrade

The reason why the corner followed the man instead of staying in his zone at 31:41 is because he was in a soft squat. That means depending on the route, the corner will follow the man and leave the zone.
To be fair to Ford on that TD. He was in a soft squat. That's why it looked like he was playing man while everyone else was playing zone. He was actually playing man.

A soft squat zone will follow the receiver its over top of if there is no receiver on the same side of the field at the snap running to the flat. Thats what happened at 32:30 ish. Use protect the sticks or adjust coverage underneath then back over the top to put it in a cloud flat and it wont happen anymore. Itll be either triangle and left bumper or triangle down then triangle up. Id recommend getting in the habit of always using triangle down triangle up on every play you call. Cloud flats are the best flat zone you can call and the only one that really works with any consistency. Also remember you can set zone drop depths in coach adjustments at the beginning of each game so you can have certain zones set to cover corners, flats, and curls.

That one play where you played cover 2 and Ford followed his receiver - he was in a soft squat which essentially plays as a man concept, but he shouldn’t ever follow a man across the field. That’s the issue this year with zones.

Not sure of your pre snap adjustments. But I usually shade underneath for pass coverage and they seem to react better and actually make plays occasionally.
