Peru, the Hell of the Peaks | Deadliest Journeys

- Peru. From North to South, the Andes Cordillera, with peaks over 6000 meters. Between these mountains, a network of roads, the most dangerous in Latin America. Connecting the Pacific Ocean to the Amazon rainforest is a feat. In this country, each year, more than 3000 people die there. . Twice a week, Juan Carlos takes up a challenge. Deliver without any breakage, a shipment of eggs from the Pacific coast to Yungay, in the heart of the Andes. He has no choice, he must take the Canyon del Pato. A track full of ruts and potholes, bordered by impressive ravines. Just like Pedro, with his cement truck, who also has to cross the highest passes of the Cordillera Blanca. For three days, far from the big cities, he struggles with a succession of mechanical breakdowns on a hostile road. Precipices do not frighten him. He relies on God, just like these thousands of Indians, who each year go to the greatest pilgrimage in Latin America, the procession of the Senor of Quoylloriti. Insensitive to cold and fatigue, Indians of all ages, a cross on their backs, stuffed with amulets, climb a mountain over 5000 meters above sea level, to collect the protection of the gods. For 5 days and 5 nights, in minus 10 degrees, to the sound of bewitching music, they danced and prayed until they were exhausted.

Thank you for the documentary. I am a truck driver in Kentucky and this explains why the South American truckers are always good drivers. Thank you.
Yes, I hope many trucks make it next time. We need it here in new Mexico, we are in need of supplies for the Navajo nation and the state in general...
Hello there sir... May you drive safe 👍
I'm from India.... Nowhere connected to trucking...but I understand 😑
All you guys are GREAT on the road! When I have drive through the State, South to North, I get between two truckers driving together - in the opposite lane - and stay there until I reach my destination. They slow down and wait for me, if I get stuck on a toll or whatever, whatever they do, I follow suit. That's just it. Especially from midnight till dawn - You guys are the best!! Thank you👍🏻❤
The bad ones all died
Good job man 👍
I love these documentaries. They remind of the old times when we used to watch these kind of narrative documentaries used to come on discovery channel and National geographic.
Well I've see deadliest journeys before. But this went above and beyond. It was wonderful to hear about the customs and beliefs. So fascinating. Thank you for this.
I love this most dangerous series and this particular narrator is my favourite, he really cracks me up sometimes! Such an interesting series and really puts the ease and luxury of North American life into perspective when I feel like things are tough and not going well.
Thank you Narrator’s voice for talking me to sleep! Love his voice lmaooooo😂
Great narrator thanks goes to him
Anyone else addicted to watching these amazing stories??
Have been viewing & enjoying the vast majority of documentaries for years now-,,,😉

Fantastic video. Have been there in 1973. Took also the ferryboat from Yurimaguas to Iquitos. Prior, by truck from Trullio to Cachamarca the on foot 5 days hiking through the chachapoyas.
I cant get enough of these shows. I remember when i was a child in the Philippines I was in a bus on a one car lane up a steep mountain. Now that im an adult in America, im all, they would never allow that over here! But the drive to make a living will make us do crazy, to us at least, things. Im sure we do normal to us but crazy to others too.
I love watching videos like these. Thanx 👍🏼
Świetnie nakręcony dokument, oddający prawdę i rzeczywistość. Dzięki.

Hello my fellow East Indian
Amazon river 40 km wide on some spots. You hardly get that idea viewing a map. Huge river. Fascinating country. I visited once for a country round trip.
This is hair-raising and nerve-wracking, but so fascinating. Culture, heritage, hopes, dreams, and a living religion. Can the government not find it in their hearts to help these people?
Yes fascinating culture
Killing Animals for use as Viagra
Witch doctors and so on
Fascinating backward Savages
The white people were the nice cultured ones, while the blacks and indigenous peoples were savages. As a black woman, I grew up hearing that my ancestors were savages. As an adult, I am still hearing the same thing. Nothing has changed .
@@domitilla10_- Those issues were mostly a thing during the independence days, where the "liberators" started treating people like slaves and carried out multiple genocides all over Latin America, and when genocides didn't happen, the new ones in power stole the lands of the natives and force them to crowd around major cities in look for a new life, like what happened in Peru during the 20th century.
I loved to watch this documentary. I would lilke to see much, much more about the people in the Amazonas and along the Amazonas River, especially the First Nation Peoples (the so called "Indians). I hope you will create more documentaries about this large area which is such an intricate part of our world.
Thank you for madking and sharing this episode with us viewers!... :)
............
PS.
On a side note: I've always wondered what was up with the hats that the women are wearing. They're very obviously not original hats of their original culture, and that is why I've been so curious about what was behind them wearing them. I've been wondering for decades, whenever I saw pictures or documentaries about the parts of the world where women are wearing these hats... nobody ever mentioned why, until now.

I believe you I would not want to drive up there but if I had to I can
Huh deep respect to you, is a scary statement... We say, we'll pray for you which has the same effect

What is Sergei Shoigu doing in thumbnail of this film ?
There is NO WAY this is a 4K documentary as the settings indicate. It is a blur that makes 320 look good.
Hi
Se puede en español? Gracias.
that guy in the thumbnail looks like Cheech from Cheech and Chong!
about time he invested in sonar
Word of the day, SHhooosshhhhh!!!

That's funny that the Spanish word for "curve" is "curva" because "kurva" means "whore" in Czech. SUPER documentary, and thanks for the upload.

Alan Partridge on Peruian flake.
What if they ran out of fuel?.
Esse cano para apertar os parafusos, não pode ser tão grande assim , corre o risco de quebrar os parafusos
It is not the tires or stone to blame. It the owners of the truck who overload the trucks
Hard Traveler
There should be drone transport,
I am guessing that the "technical problems" they encounter across the journey are mostly made up to make for modestly dramatic plot twists.
Yeah, the voice moderator pimps the show by breathing hard when the natives are changing tires lol Only the British.
I was expecting to see at least a couple of trucks plunging over the edge. The hype is real.
Today there are reporters with modern equipment in even the most poorest of conditions, but the reporters here still use almost last century tech like their ancestors before them did.

In the thumbnail Chechen Marin has let himself go.
I Wana try that secret stuff..not cool
You mean the 'ayahuasca'? BTW, it's mixed with 'chacruna', which provides the DMT, that bring on visions. It's not as dangerous as he made it sound. You'd have to overdose a great deal to even go into a coma. Suggestion: if you search for this experience, make sure the shaman is legitimate, as that is very important.
@@ariziman I wish I would not even know where to begin. I hang alone🤣. I stick to myself. But I do believe If I try hard enough I will find him😃🤣😉
