    A brilliant description of martok’s strategy that is basically cavalry raid with ships of the enemy’s logistics and infrastructure network behind the lines. To further weaken and disrupt the enemy ability to fight.
    However with true Klingon style, raid goes pear shaped after first action turning it into a race for survival back to friendly space.

    Klingon photon torpedoes suck! They have less range than WW II unguided bombs.
    Seriously, did the director base the base attack scene on teh Pearl Harbor attack? They could have decloak and fired from orbit. A planet side base has terrible maneuverability to dodge photon torpedoes.

    • @stevensimison625
      @stevensimison625 6 месяцев назад +5

      Birds of Prey are Close attack Ships. their weapons are meant to be used CLOSE. also the base defenses can shoot down torpedoes fired from high orbit. Vor'cha class ships might be able to launch enough but Negh'Var class ships would overwhelm it in seconds. but remember that wasn't the plan. the plan was to damage it and run. thus the class of ships they brought.

    • @davidlewis5312
      @davidlewis5312 6 месяцев назад

      @stevensimison625 is there any suggestion trek weapons are accurate enough to shoot down incoming torpedoes? I don't recall anything along those lines until lower decks. Heck I have seen near misses on and by Ent-D

    • @stevensimison625
      @stevensimison625 6 месяцев назад

      @@davidlewis5312 Yes actually. star trek generations. Worf states that it would take 15 seconds to lock on to a probe fired from veridian 3. Now mind you it would take 11 to go from the planet to the star. so digest the factors here. one probes in trek tend to use the same systems. (lazy I know) but in simple terms a probe and torpedo move the same way and at similar speeds. second Worf has no idea where the probe is being launched from, so scanning for, identifying, targeting, and then firing takes that long. Now with a ship bombarding you from orbit. Ships can't fire from cloak. (most of the time) enemy ship decloaks ALL your sensors FOCUS on that ship. it starts shooting torpedoes from high orbit down at you. you see where they are coming from and your LIGHT biased energy weapons target anything coming out of that ship.
      This is why there are Phasers or Disrupters. those things melt energy shields and manage to damage your target as the energy fields and particle screens reenergize where they have been dissipated. when they are weak or disabled. THATS when you torpedo them to death. when you have a base that can hold 10,000 the POWER it can put to the shields, is immense. but its not moving. thus the style of attack. swoop down, decloak, blast with what you got, get the hell out.

      Spiral Wave Disruptors are no pop guns. They can cause severe damage to even larger Federation ships - there's a reason the Fed/Cardassian conflict was such a mess. Plus, it looks like the BoP got hit in the EXACT same spot Kirk shot the BoP in ST6 - it's basically the worst place to take a hit on a BoP. Combine that with the raw power of a SWD and likely weakened shields, and.. yeah. Pop goes the Birdie.
