Lol. Same thing with minnesotans talk about how tough they are because they can handle the cold and then they spent all winter in their homes that are heated.
Owned a vacation homein Florida for 25 years. Planned on retiring there but realized over the years that what once was a very affordable place to live became the exact opposite. Spent 3 years after retiring and sold in spring of 2022 for a 450% increase with a total net profit of 375%. So no, I have no regret as far as moving there. What I regret is the corruption and total mismanagement by Florida state, county, and municipal government and elected officials. I knew going into it their were long term issues but the last 5 years the corruption and cost to taxpayers is truly criminal. House was payed off in 15 years. The last 6 years we were paying more in property taxes, property insurance, flood insurance, and utilities than when we first bought for these expenses and had a 15 year mortgage combined. For what, Florida spends little money on its infrastructures. Our biggest dissapointment and the main reason we bailed was health care. Besides the increasing cost the quality of care has declined terribly even before the pandemic. We still spend 3 months in the winter renting in the same area for less than we would spend on the above annual expenses. No regrets on moving there or moving out.

I have always lived in FL. I think that on the female or even as a male getting older, skintone is actually something to take into consideration though. It's an experience, but, it literally is 'endless summer'. Rain becomes a welcome change, as long as it doesn't flood. If you don't know what UV is (most actually don't know there's UV types, from High/Extreme to Low, look at your weather reports), they just don't wear sunscreen. I never did as a kid either. The point is if you have darker skin, you'll never tell adifference, but otherwise, you'll start developing little problems that you have to fix. You may think 'oh thats superficial'.. but it isn't superficial to start to have small issues that could take months and care to clear up. And I'm a guy. I have olive/mediterranean type of skin, but the point is, when I'm not even tanned, I've felt like the sun is 'good' and yet it almost always causes some kind of skin condition.. and of course, now I am in my late 20s. So it's something to consider, the sun helps a lot, but as you get out of your teenage years, ignoring that 'too much sun' causes damages or will cause issues, is something that makes a psychological indent. I learned so much from girls in this about moisturizing, and other things, but eh, the point is do you always want to be tanned and look like that? It's up to you. Eventually it will be less good for your health. Also when sun is 'less available', your skin reverts back to normal mode in only a matter of days, so, you will start to see if you have any problems more than when tanning was making your skin glow up. If you are darker in skin tone, it literally doesn't matter, a sun-related or other skin thing is like not noticable or it just blends in. But once you get the little brown spot ,or have to wait a month or fw months, it's just going to get more annoying. As a guy who never cared at all, I now care a bit more and also my skin regeneration is much slower than in my teens so.. I am considering one day moving north and seeing the differences in lifestyle. People who are dumb tend to neglect this, but they develop issues anyway, they just never notice it, you have to cover up in desert heat or extreme conditions, and it's like 95F near every day in FL. I sort of avoid 'peak hours' of sun exposure now and try to aim for extreme morning or sunset times if possible because of UV, and possibly use sunscreen, but in FL it's like you will sweat the second you go out, and you will have issues from it.. On the other hand, it's not good to 'run away' like some northerners do and hide behind articles of clothing etc., it sure looks good to wear an overcoat, and makes you feel better to cover up your body, but in a way tropical weather 'reveals' your natural body and makes you wear less clothes, so in a way you shouldn't be fearing that as well, nor running from it. More people than ever in the west are 'not even fit'. These seemingly 'small' but 'every day' choices add up and are actually a major part of anyone's life unless they are a complete noncaring stoic or 'are ok with' living alone etc, but most people actually want to be around some kind of populace tbh, even myself who has been fairly antisocial sometimes. The opportunity/options being available seems far better to me than to live as a hermit somewhere cheaper; I'd like the 'option' to go out when I want to meet people, be seen by other people, and live in a populated area, or to go over to a more populated area, not be simply stuck because it was cheaper in a less populated area. I'm ok with my sexuality and I'm technically 'more fit' and can beat people in some fitness, so, I don't care speaking about aesthetic things like this, especially, because I think it matters because people's psychology (especially dumber people) tendto take that into consideration more, and so it's always goodto be fit and to be healthy, and to take care of yourself. The reality is 'too much paradise' just like 'tooo much sun' is sometimes bad psychologically as well as physically. A lot of people go for dying their hair blonde and it's common (even this person), and it looks good, for example, but it's just 1 type of life style, and isn't beneficial for everyone; I think even with the paradise weather ideal, which is promoted, it can easily lead to mental illness, or depression, I've seen people who are actually depressed but they live in tropical weather.. because it can feel overwhelming, expensive, and you start to feel like you're never 'ready' to do anything, or don't know what to do next; this is easier for beautiful girls who can continually just go out without any issue, or some brainless guy who is already fit, but for almost anyone else, it's iffy. You should always take others' needs into account too who need emotional support or need support, not everyone feels like they fit in.

I’m closing in on my retirement and I’d like to move from Florida to a warmer climate, but the prices on homes are stupidly ridiculous and Mortgage prices has been skyrocketing on a roll(currently over 7%) do I just invest my spare cash into stock and wait for a housing crash or should I go ahead to buy a home anyways.
Interest rate is currently at 4.75%(8th rate hike since March last year) Inflation at 7% and mortgage rates is at over 7.5% but yet minimum wage remains the same and my retirement portfolio has suffered tremendously these past years, so my question is how do senior citizens retire and live off such unstable economy. The long term game is obviously not for me at this point.
A recession as bad it can be, provides good buying opportunities in the markets if you’re careful and it can also create volatility giving great short time buy and sell opportunities too. This is not financial advise but get buying, cash isn’t king at all in this time!
On the contrary, even if you’re not skilled, it is still possible to hire one. I am a project manager and my personal portfolio of approximately $750k took a big hit in April due to the crash. I quickly got in touch with a financial-planner that devised a defensive strategy to protect and profit from my portfolio this red season. I’ve made over $350k since then.
@@MarkFreeman-xi3rk I've been thinking of going that route been holding on to a bunch of stocks that keeps tanking and I don't know if to keep holding or just dump them, do think your Inv-coach could guide me with portfolio-restructuring as i wouldn’t mind a recommendation.
Actually, I've shuffled through a few advisors in the past, and Margaret Johnson Arndt remains the most resourceful thus far. Her strategy proves profitable, and sustainable both in a bull & bear market. Most likely, her deets can be found on the net, so you can confirm yourself.
