“he saw his robot win and his father win”, couldn’t have said it better myself bro. All we wanted as kids was our parents to “care” for us. And that’s what Charlie eventually displayed at the end. When Max looks at his dad boxing and he just sees how happy he is, man that is some great stuff right there.
heres a fun fact: The Director, Shawn Levy, confirmed that Atom has some sentience, its also implied when max and atom ran at night, and of course, at the mirror scene (also max yelling at atom to Get Up after being decked by zeus) its noticable when max asks atom "can you understand me?" and its not that noticable, but atom slightly nods
One of the greatest features of this film is that none of the bots are the problem, they’re all up to standard. The reason Charlie loses with both ambush and noisy boy is because of his hubris, which is rectified at the end when he has to shadow box👍🏽👏🏽
it pains me so much that this movie was ignored and considered "meh" at the time it launched, it's so good... wish they came back to this world man, so much to explore, such potential for a fighting franchise, man, i can even see this as a game XD
I’m so happy this movie is finally making the reaction rounds! It’s so good! The central relationship is good enough that the story would work even without the robots.
To think robotwars inspired this, at least we still have battlebots. As much of a frustratingly slow burn the movie takes, it's such an underappreciated wholesome story, one I'm glad isn't forgotten.
I'm dead certain that this movie was inspired by a show called "Prototype This". one episode of which centered on building a giant Rock'em Sock'em ring with the robots being controlled by motion capture suits. The show only had something like six episodes, it was in the period where Mythbusters was starting to wind down and Discover Channel was spitballing shows to try to set up a replacement
Fun fact: Real steel takes place in 2020. It's been 4 years since that movie's time setting Which is odd cause the movie had robots fighting in 2020 when we got COVID-19 man.😂
Zeus was designed to have a shit ton of power to end fights quickly, built to fight other bots that had bigger offensive capabilities. That’s why he runs out of power in the 5th round. He wasn’t designed to even try that hard. Atoms defense was simply immaculate, built to take punches and keep going, mix that with a boxer with experience in knocking people out and you’ve got a damn good robot.
Did anybody know that SyFy channel tried to make robot boxing real? They had a show called Robot Combat League where builders all worked to try and make robots that could actually fight in an arena. Sadly, it never made it past 1 season, which was such a shame. you can find it here on RUclips, i think.
The robots were not CGI. They were all practical. That's why they look so real is because they are. Of course, they did some CGI stuff but it's really impressive. This movie is so underrated.
To anyone who didn't like this movie my condolences for whatever events ruined the concept of fun for you and i hope you can recover It's robots fighting Its just fun
Saw this one in theaters back in the day. Great film, but yeah, just came out at the wrong time I think, was buried by one of the Twilights or something. That and there ARE a lot of clichés in it, but they are good fucking ones lol. Quick look on IMBD, sounds like the director back in 21 was pushing for a sequel with Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, and Disney is potentially making a TV series (Though with the strike, making a robot fighting series with AI writers would be a bit on the nose...)
Even though this was a great movie and all, this was a ripped off from the Movie Over The Top with Sylvester Stallone. If you liked this one than you MUST watch Over The Top.
You can’t spell “You cAn’T SpELL UndERatEd” without “Real Steel” (I’m too lazy to see if I did that right or not so I will just pretend I did.) I was huffing so much hopium that Pacific Rim’s (terrible) sequel and (okish) anime would have also spelled a revival for Real Steel, but yeah… Back in the nostalgia box it goes.
Do you know that they actually made some real life models of the robots? Only Atom and Zeus, but they were made and they are real. The Atom that wakes up in the table and looks at Max, is actually there.
The fact that they always make the parent/ parents want their kid/kids at the end is so unrealistic, especially if their kid/kids are as annoying as this kid. He's annoying to me because he's a lot like his father. Also Charlie is clearly very stupid with money to a whole other level shown previously if he thought of even trying to sell Atom for less than at least 1 million dollars since Atom brought them to the big leagues from the bottom. Grabbing is illegal in boxing, Zeus should've been disqualified.
I understand it can seem unrealistic but it was made to make you feel good so ofc the ending would be the best outcome. He’s an in pain defiant kid he’s not supposed to be easy to deal with his mom just died.
It's a copyright protection system. A few years back, RUclips got REAL twitchy with reaction channels. In addition to chopping up the movie, they have to do things like blur the screen and/or distort the sound

Boys highly recommend a movie called “Warrior”, Tom Hardy. Same general type of movie with great storytelling.
These Real Steel reactions are coming out of the wood works and im very happy. This movie needs more love
I grew up liking boxing more than football and when this movie came out, I went nuts because it looks cool
Yessssss... i have seen 2 reactions already in a month, i've been waiting for years am so happy
I know right, surprised so many people just discovered this gem.
No fr its like everyone is starting to give this movie its credit it was amazing as a kid watching this
Zeus was made for fast fights so he doesn't last long in the ring while Atom was literally made for sparring, he was made to take a beating
We want to see our parents happy too, no matter what and this right here hits right in the feelings

They did actually make a game. I remember playing it back on the xbox 360. I don't know if you can still buy it or not though.
@@wizardlizard524 Don't remember if the game was good or not. But it sure was fun as hell.
I rmb playing the mobile game. Nothing great, but it was the only thing that can give me any sense of satisfaction after the movie ):
It happened just like to rottmnt
This movie is SUPER underrated
In America could be.

you guys ever heard Plawres Sanshiro?
@@n0stradam0s Can't say that I have, though the synopsis reminds of CustomRobo, miss that 80's aesthetic though!

This movie makes you get emotionally attached to a robot, lol.
Nah the robot is a representation of Charlie, and what he was as a boxer.

For the first time, you're the one reaction group to see the controller on that guy's arm that reminds of the Duel Disk from Yu-Gi-Oh

I freakin WISH there was a sequel! But, no one could come to an agreement on production, directing, budget, etc.
To anyone who didn't like this movie my condolences for whatever events ruined the concept of fun for you and i hope you can recover
It's robots fighting
Its just fun
They had a sequel planned, but there was so many mixed reviews it was scrapped (sorry for the pun).

Lol my bad G
"that shit look so real" because it's real, well some of the shot is VFX but they did build a real robot for the movie
Y'all goated for putting this out 🔥
Wolverine, Blob, Falcon, and Wasp.
I remember seeing this movie and remembering the climax.
i still have the physical disc for this movie, i loved watching its really good. (or was i havent seen it in years)
It has that Rocky Balboa vibes except with robots.
This movie is definitely a gem 💎 to me
Honestly, Atom is not strong, he weak like hell actually but since he already gifted with unbelievable durability, you will understand
Yo Jason/Chance I can't see the post discussion end card, can you hook me up with a link to it?
I LOVED the game they made for the ps3
Deadpool would wipe Wolverines ass if he asked him too
Not everyone's taste but I enjoyed it.

It’s realistic for a father to love his own son after not spending time together, especially after they’ve bonded for so long with fighting robots.
Dude thinks human fighting and robot fighting is gonna have the same rules 😂
