Wow l have been watching the " One man operation" he is fixing up a "Landie" & Boy what a job .... you must watch it, & understand how much work it was cutting out & welding he did on the Land Rover l was stunned & he did a great job, oh good luck with your projects😁😁 😁😁
Love an SD1 my dad had one C reg too, red with silver along the bottom put it into body shop to get bumpers and bottom of car painted matching red, was the in thing at the time🙄 nearly spanked the arse off me when I said looked better before the paint 😂😂😂🏴
So glad i found your channel. Living in norway i had a rover sd1 3500 vitesse when i was young and just married. In fact i think our child was made in that car. In 1982 i payd 92000 nkr for the car (lot of money at that time) old style dashboard. Brown exterior yellow interior .loved that motor still miss her.
Bought one 1985 3.5 vanden plas absolutely fantastic car ran as a daily driver for about 4 years never had any problems with it the first owner had the whole car rustproofed even when I sold it on there was not any rust on it
Nice work! Hats off to you for doing all that welding in your driveway! I heard they only built 500 of the Twin P.lenum SD1s, so it's a rare car. SD1s don't rot as badly here in New Zealand, but then we have far fewer of the higher spec models here.
So far so good. I had the 2.3 and 2.6 back in the late 80's , was working my way up to the V8 but never made it 😢. There is a reset button in the glove box or under for the electric windows just incase, mine would sometimes trip out. Good luck
That sounds so sweet, and I have been looking for one for years. My Dad had one back in the late 70's Reg PVC 999W and was my favourite as well as his BMW 30 Si KTU 999L any of these are on my list. Look forward to future videos. 👏👏
Good luck!! I've got a Moonraker SP Vitesse which is fortunately in good shape but know those areas you've been welding.... I wouldn't know where to start!
What a wonderful but daunting project but I can see you have the skills to pull it off. I remember those cars back in the day and as a kid I always dreamed of owning one but fate has had other ideas for me. That V8 is music to my ears and one of the best ever sounding stock engines in my opinion - just love that lazy V8 burble. Wish you the best of luck with it and hope to see it back close to its original condition in the not too distant future.
Thanks for the support, yeah ive had tvrs and a westfield with that engine, all sounded different but all epic! Tbh i was also a little thrown by the extent of the work at the start, but definitely past the worst of it now!
Just found your channel and subscribed. 😀 Always loved the SD1 Vitesse, great job with the welding and she sounds gggrrreat! Looking forward to future episodes!
Ha! My old car, except mine was far far rustier. In the end the engine fell out at the back, and was held in with just the gearbox mount. really want another one though.. especially in that blue. Dan
Just found your channel, My dad had 3 SD1’s I love these cars currently looking for a SD1, You have done a fantastic job on the welding look forward to seeing the next video on it 👍
Great video & good luck with the project. Give me a shout if you need any help with the TP stuff, I’ve got a 86 TP & happy to assist with any questions or reference pictures etc. Looking forward to the next instalment
The Vitesse SD1’s were rare back in the day and twin plenum ones were even more scarce, As to the injection system definitely put that back in, surely the injection system would be similar to the classic V8 Range Rover’s, up to 1990?
I really love the SD1, I have had 7 of them. a Vitesse, a V8 Vanden plas (both Moonraker blue) and various 2300/2600's Back in the 90;s, these were a very cheap car. not the case now!
@@RetroRatchet Moonraker is the best colour, looks great with the Vitesse wheels, the 2600 was a great engine, the 2000 was well underpowered, I doubt many have survived!
I'd love to watch a youtube channel about the Rover VITESSE but nothing is in order there's one video with part 15 and the other video with part 10 the rest have no order???????
They r not ordered because the majority of the project work was completed prior to youtube days. Try nitrosilvia his sd1 work is in chronological order.
190bhp!!!!!........take the head gaskets off and weld the head back on..and fit 2 turbos too it from a subaru.......people who tinker with their 2600 are making more power than the 3500 the 2600 is a detuned triumph straight six that use to output about 170bhp

Great motors, are they rare in Norway?
Nice look forward to following the build, Nitrosilvia is a great SD1 channel 👍
Thanks 👍
Great project, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to following 👍👍😎😎
Cheers bud
Fantastic job and a really good first video. The SD1 was the last of the great Rovers and I look forward to further episodes.
Cheers dave, wiper motor/electrics will be next on it i think and maybe mot if i can fit it in before paintwork
Bought one 1985 3.5 vanden plas absolutely fantastic car ran as a daily driver for about 4 years never had any problems with it the first owner had the whole car rustproofed even when I sold it on there was not any rust on it
Yeah thats it, if it was looked after they last well, love the luxury of the vdp

Thanks mate, yeah id not do another welding project outside!!
Must be great to see them survive so well over there 👍🏻👍🏻
This will be great when finished, love the dash cluster and the engine seems to run really well.
Cheers adam, had been a long journey so far, but hopefully worth it in the end

Good luck!! I've got a Moonraker SP Vitesse which is fortunately in good shape but know those areas you've been welding.... I wouldn't know where to start!
Yeah if uve a solid one, hang onto it! And keep it dry 🙂
An excellent 1st video Chris looking forward to more.
Thanks Frank
Good luck with the project dude! She doesn't look bad at all.
Cheers mate
Back in 1985/6 I owned one of these exact same cars in same colour. Interesting to see one now and how it has suffered with the British weather.
Cool, yeah window seals havent helped this one nor one of the sunroof drains being welded up 😀

I had a vanden plas EFI in the 80s, same colour, one of my favourite cars I’ve owned, looking forward to seeing how you get on with the resto
Cheers mate! Yeah will try and get as much content on it as possible, same as you, one of my fav cars from the 80s
Good luck it'll be worth it when it's finished.
Cheers mate
Just found your channel and subscribed. 😀
Always loved the SD1 Vitesse, great job with the welding and she sounds gggrrreat!

Cheers, thanks for the positive feedback! Just shot another one, hopefully paint in a few weeks time
Impressed with your knowledge , I’ll buy it when it’s all done haha .
Always wanted one still never have
Haha

Sounds about right lol
Yay. Even more SD1s on RUclips!
Yeah wish i had recorded from the start of the project, currently trying to put together something more detailed on the welding, watch this space

Thanks very much, ill try for next weekend for more welding ones
Nice work so far looking a lot more solid .
Thanks 👍
Great video, great car......deffo return it to twin plenum status, great colour too......moonraker blue metallic I think...correct me if I'm wrong 👍👊
Thanks a lot, yeah thats the plan, i suspect it will prob run better on carb, but i like a challenge! Yeah moonraker blue
Good work. Those trailing arm mounting points are a real pain to do.
Yeah tell me about it, its my first sd1 and there wasnt much sound metal to go off! Got their in the end tho!
Nice classic motor the SD1 👍🏻 Looks good so far buddy 😊
Cheers mate, the hard works done, cant wait till its painted
I love the steering wheel and dash! Looks so cool, this car is older than me 😅 looking forward to seeing the next video 👏
Thank you 🤗
Nice
Thanks

Thanks a lot for the offer!
Love to learn your restoration skills...what route did you go down get the knowlede and skill you needed?
I'm self taught mate - started at 14!!
Lucky man to own vittese
Its certainly been a challenge!
If your not familiar with nitro Silvia channel, be sure to check it out. He has lots of videos welding SD1 , James certainly knows his stuff
Just subscribed, lots of vids to catch up on!

Yeah that right, the rest of the injection components can be found in various other rover/landrover/tvr etc

fair bit of work cut oot for yae mate, sd1 v8 is the next project car am after once av got ma mini sorted what would you say is a fair price for one?
Depends on a lot of factors and which model, they do come up from time to time, maybe join one of the fb pages, best place to spot one
Do you watch Nitro Silvia? James is so knowledgeable about these cars.
Just found it! Lots to watch!
I guess you've seen Nitrosilvia's SD1 restorations.
Just subscribed mate,
