This is the most touching scene of the whole concert for me. Imagine your friend just passed away and you have to sing a song about friendship for him. I think I could understand why Lagola cried and it always makes me cry as well.
2019, Christmas eve, I was listening to this live sitting in the small one room apartment I rented. My job back then sucked. Everyday I went out at dawn and back home when stars and moon come out. I was oppressed and harassed at work. But as a fresh graduate alone in a new city with no friends or family to rely on, I tried to persuade myself to bear with it and when I gained more work experience I could change my job. After all I need to pay for my existence right? But as days went on, this sense of restless and unsettled was slowly killing my will. Drowned in my sadness of the situation that I faced. But then I heard guitar playing. I cried. And I replayed this song again and again until at some point, I stopped feeling anything. Next day I went to my manager and resigned from that position. Many things happened in my life after that, positively. I am living a much better life now compared to that time. But I will always remember that night, I was 22, sad, lonely, helpless and hopeless. Then there's music. There's this song. There's a friend of mine.
I’m Japanese university students, I also came to other place and live by myself now. I felt so so lonely when I came here cuz I didn’t have any friends and family. I know it’s so hard but u got this. This is actually one of my fave Avicii songs..and then this performance, i think this is the best performance that night.. I cried like he was indeed my friend.
Best part is there are barely any phones. most of the ones in peoples hands are for Lights. This is what humanity is. not recording the moment but living it. Exactly how Tim would have wanted it.

I never gave the original version much attention, but that night when i was standing in the crowd this performance is the most memorable for me for that whole concert. That Simon and Garfunkel feeling over the guitar and that tremendous feeling of a lost friend when they literally crying out their singing... it breaks my heart everytime i listen to this
I'm not a person who is known for being emotional and crying but it is simply impossible to not cry watching the tribute concert. Such a beautiful concert, with beautiful songs and beautiful people. God bless everyone who made the concert possible. Rip avicii we all love you and miss you so much

The pure emotion in this song and the moment he choked gets me every time, it takes me right back to the moment we lost him and it kills me all over again. But at the same time it's so moving I can't help but keep watching it. The world has lost an amazing soul but heaven has gained an incredible angel

I remember writing out these lyrics while on my French exchange a few years ago. It was fun, but there were hard times. Tim’s music really helped. His powerful lyrics were my little bit of home.
The night before I went home I was staying at a dumpy little airport hotel with 3 other girls waiting. That was April 20.
My exchange partner texted me, and I didn’t believe her. It took a while to sink in. I cried that night. I never knew him personally, and he didn’t know that I existed, but his work really helped me.
Even now, whenever his music comes by on my playlist I find myself tearing up. He was so young, I feel terrible that a beautiful soul suffered so much. Thank you Tim, from past and current me, may you rest I’m peace and your memory love forever.
