The wowee robots were surprisingly well made! I just bought an original release robo raptor and even after 19 years and the world's roughest journey through the mail hes still going strong.
I used to play with this very same robot when I was younger back in 2006-7 until the right hand iirc stopped working; would no longer close its hand (other than that it worked great) and after that my dad took it apart to repair it and since then it's been disassembled because he couldn't find the springs that the robot uses to close its hand at the time. We still have the robot and I guess if I really look into fixing it I could succeed and complete the project but no idea what I would do with it afterwards, certainly not play with it lmao. I have good memories of the V2, good to see it in such shape!
This one had a similar problem. I found a non-working V2 in a resale shop, and Anthony who has the channel ProjectNova0 used parts to repair mine to full working! I hope it lasts.
@@BanjosandRobots I see. That was pretty nice from the guy. Hopefully I find a fix or replacement parts for it, I would not mind playing with it one more time tbh...
i have a similar story. Back when i was 7, my parents gave me as a birthday present the special edition spiderman 3 robosapien. Now at my 21 years of age, i took him out of my storage room after being inside a plastic box for 10+ years, luckly it was stored without batteries which means no corrosion damage from old batteries. got a new pack of D and AAA batteries and when it turned on, i just started crying of just nostalgia and happiness. That big guy was like a friend to me when i was a kid and seeing him in near perfect condition and fully working after all these years, its so touching.
Pearl white one they have good wires very lucky to have this one. I’m glad someone who actually takes care of there things has it. If you ever wanna sale it please let me know! Collecting them!
thanks for your comment! As of now he's still working properly but I never know how long it will last. I mentioned somewhere, I have had two small repairs done on him already.
I'm amazed the Robosapien V2 still works perfectly and isn't yellowed at all! I used to own several WowWee robots and the V2 was by far one of my favourites. Sadly because I played with it a lot it didn't take too much time before it could barely function anymore. Had severe issues with the head and the tilt sensors. The only robots that I still own from when I was younger and continue to purchase are the LEGO Mindstorms. My 14-year-old NXT 1.0 set, unlike most WowWee robots I've owned, still functions near perfect and my 9-year-old NXT 2.0 is literally good as new. Recently purchased the EV3 and Robot Inventor sets over the past year to mess around with during lockdown. Not quite as busy now as I was before 2020! LEGO's build quality continues to amaze me and these sets just never get old. Love how over the years I've had so many issues with WowWee robots and seen many other people with more issues, whereas Mindstorms just continues to work flawlessly! 😂
@@BanjosandRobots Thanks! Seen some by Project Nova0 already! I’ll definitely look into both more! Sad WowWee couldn’t make their products built to last longer

Nice mine was a old RS V1 white and it was going from 2008 until it hit 15 years Blue did not live long so it was all because of the way the put the wires in the hands different so he lived only 4 years
Each time I set him up and he works, I feel lucky. I hope I have a few years left. This one has been repaired twice already, and it's hard to even get a repair on it.
These bots weren’t around for long bc of the cost needed to produced them in mass. They thought it was a great idea producing them with insanely cheap parts to benefit themselves but instead produced a bunch of unusable, dead bots that are/were a hazardous concern with their terrible wiring and in the common White V2’s case, insanely cheap shell/body parts that yellowed and broke apart easily. And the V1 kinda became the main signature of wowwee. The V2 was much more expansive for parents to buy for their children than the V1 in which the v1 already provided enough entertainment and contentment for younger children to be satisfied with.
@@timsmith7279 They should bring back the V2 with high quality parts and online LLM augmentation, while still keeping the original personality and antics, of course.
some of them did, in fact a lot of them. But there were some lucky batches that did not have the wiring problem. The channel called joebeanvideos has a short history of the model 2.
I recently remembered wanting one of these really badly after seeing the commercial for it on TV. I specifically remember the commercial ending with the robot saying "who's your daddy!" I had no idea what that was supposed to mean, but it did sound cool. My parents got me a Roboquad instead, which was still cool, but the Robosapien was always the one I really wanted. It's too bad that I'm now learning I might never live out my childhood fantasy, if the build quality on these aren't that great (I am not a handyman!) and new in box Robosapien V2s are selling for $500+ on eBay. Hopefully someday I'll get my hands on a working one!
I acquired one of these that was sitting in an office on a shelf and has never been used. They never had the remote for it and it still has some of the plastic on it that it was shipped with. It is the exact model in your video. What model of remote do I need for this? Do you have the part number? will any of the remotes work even if it is newer? I think it takes the remote that looks like an xbox remote but they are hard to find. I sew a bunch of the other remotes that look more like a tv remote. will those work?
You can probably search on Ebay for Robosapien V2 remote and you will see it. It does look like a gaming remote somewhat. The Robosapien v1 remote is shaped long and vertical like a tv remote, with more different buttons all labeled. I don't know hoow often they come up for sale but should be cheaper than buying the robot. There are some movements that he can do without the remote, so load your with batteries and see if it is working before looking for a remote.
