Kevin was a part of the period where I was still happy as a Warriors fan.
i feel bad for warrior fan's, honestly NRL just want the NZ money but do not want them to win. amount of bullshit warrior fan's gone through, I m amazed they are still afloat.
@@pizzaki582 one of the wealthiest clubs thanks to the loyal fan base. It is a shame NRL doesn't seem to realize there's such a huge market in NZ for league. They should be supporting it more
What bout now
Agreed bro. Playing under 12s I always wanted to be like Locke 🤣
Locke was a crazy talent for sure . Pure speed , skill , foot work to burn . It’s a shame it all went the way it did because he could still be in the nrl today just as Shaun Johnson is . The signing of Sam Tompkins was a big fat flop .
Shaun Johnson is a sad watch these days. He’s well past his best and plays like he hates being there. Man should retire.
@@andyhunter5869 correct ! However my point is that Johnson has had many more years in the nrl than Locke . I think it was unfortunate that Locke robbed himself of that opportunity .
the warriors need to be disbanded...its killed a lot of talented players
@@Skybar23 the warriors head office needs to be disbanded
Delusional comment. I watched every game Locke played for the Warriors. Yes he had some speed and footwork skills, i'll acknowledge that. The guy was also a HUGE COWARD who let dozens of easy tries happen. He was an absolute coward when it came to putting his body on the line, he literally got out of the way everytime. Total joke.
Praying for our brother Kevin Locke, you been through a lot man I hope everything all goes well for you my childhood hero
What a talent, his combination with Johnson and Maloney was building real well...Warriors wasted an opportunity to help Locke through his off field troubles...he needed it. Hope and pray he is on, and stays on the straight and narrow.
My bro is still playing club footy is married an lives here in Australia. Thanks for the vid an yes most of it is true 👍 awesome work brother keep it up
awesome to hear brother! hope to see him on the t.v again was an idol watching him play growing up
Bro u related to Gordon Silby we went to school together same as John Locke we all grew up in Northcote
@@iroam8825 yes cuzon Gordz my cuzzie. Lysander cres where knobby use to hang out at my Nana hucks lol..
Can you do a video on what happen on Chris Sandow and where he is at now, just to see the journey of the small magical Aboriginal?
Agreed
he was electric to watch
I think gambling pushed him to England for financial reasons. That was kinda the end of it. If he took less money to stay in the NRL it could've been different.
He was working in the mines with a mate of mine a couple years ago. Then I heard he was let go because of some drinking incident.
@@madmots981 The mines are the last place a problem drinker wants to put themselves. It's so fooking boring out there.
Locke was a victim of the idiocy of the warriors boardroom decisions, which continues today. He was still playing well when they signed up Tomkins - and a fullback was the least of their worries in terms of team roster depth.
The lad was troubled and mentally ill I don't know why the warriors board take responsibility for that. Maybe they could have done more to look after him but I don't know, but at the end of the day there's only so much anyone can do it always only improves if the individual can find a way to help themselves. It's just a real shame
100% this
Sam tomkins was the biggest flop that ever come to the NRL ! They talked him up heaps 2
Your absolutely correct.Locke's story is sad and a blight on the Warriors club.
Locke was a top talent who Graham Lowe said if handled properly could have been as good as Slater.
He had some alcohol / mental health problems which he needed help with but so do many youngsters.
The signing of Tomkins when we had a top FB was so stupid it defies belief. It was a kick in the guts Locke didn't deserve.
He was the victim of his own idiocy.
Tomkins was a bad choice to cover but if it wasn't Tomkins, it'd have been someone else. Locke was a bomb waiting to go off and the Warriors threw it out the window before it exploded.
Streets won't forget Kevin Locke. Poor fella. Hope he's doing well now. Thanks for the update bro. Earned a new subscriber.
He started meeting woman off Instagram and would rip them off ...tell them lies and never pay them back...did this to former teammates as well....serious gambling problem
You can almost plot the demise of the warriors to where they are now in 2022 from the moment they dropped Kevin Locke for Tompkins, one of the worst decisions the club has ever made
Exactly
Lolohea Fusitua Hurrel Kata
Warriors produce great raw talent that are only truly exposed when they’ve played for an Aussie based club.
Warriors also have a reputation of pushing away their best talent in exchange for short term success.
Push or salary cap?
Instead of helping this young man and trying to build him up Warriros dogged tf outta him so bad.
He ripped off a few team mates
all I can say...any talented player that go to the warriors will have thier career spiral into the Abyss...that club is like a curse
I was just thinking about Locke recently, great player and a shame he’s no longer around in the Nrl. Thanks for the video mate very interesting
I still remember the image of Kevin Locke staring straight at the naked streaker running towards him in the 2011 final vs Tigers (which is still our last finals game 😒)
Been a long time between drinks for the cats huh
@@bpswank429 I was in year 3 in 2011, now I’m in my second year of uni. Hopefully that answers your question
Damn I didn't realize that is the last time the Tigers were in the 8
@@localmo88 yeahhh it’s been too long lol
One of the most fun players I’ve ever watched, but such an idiot off field, especially after a few drinks. I’ve saw him in downtown Auckland 3-4 years ago trying to start a fight over nothing while completely plastered. It was a good thing, for his sake, that he had good mates and they pulled him away. I also know other people who have seen him in similar situations. Hopefully he sorts himself out
Getting rid of Locke for tompkins has to be the clubs biggest flop ever after letting cleary go. Why in the world would u get rid of nz best fb at that time for a untested nrl player for a record amount of money. And then flop 🤦🏽🤦🏽
Because Locke had no certainty to his future. He was getting in trouble off field to the point that the Warriors had to replace him so they weren't forced to suddenly mid season when he was sentenced for another crime.
@@bremCZ I get that but if that was the case we still had glen fisiahi. Why not just drop Locke and actually help the guy out as it seemed he was troubled and had some real mental health issues. Then develop fish more instead of paying 200-300k transfer fee on top of the 7-800k they payed tompkins to flop. Anyway hindsight is a wonderful thing isn’t it
@@bremCZ you can see a lot of similarities with Walsh with Locke. Not only freakishly talented on field but afew off field antics starting to seep in. I hope he doesn’t end up like Locke though
@@solekefs626 Yeah sure. Tomkins was a gamble that didn't pay off. But the odds were a lot better than sticking with Locke. He was one stupid decision away from being thrown in jail.
Onya bud for the insight about lockes past. But unfortunately just like criminal records. you gotta keep yourself out of trouble with playing 1st grade rugby and be an example in a good way. Your a celebrity and an athlete. And if you want your supporters to be a good example you need to show your club, your team mates, your fans that you are a good example and not get into trouble. Therefore I do say this and that is. Rugby does need to do more to help players progress with working and studying etc whatever it maybe. Because rugby is all they have ever known growing up.
This happen to Preston Campbell where he only knew rugby and after his career he didn't know what career to get into. What trade to undertake and therefore tried commuting suicide when he drove his car off a cliff but still survived lt. I think if locke stayed away from hanging with mates during his time off and also not speeding or whatever it maybe under the Influence of alcohol. And kept his head on straight and thought like a mature adult even though he's a young boy. I think he'd still be playing now and be recognised as one of the best Maoris to play alongside those who have recently retired. Issac luke. RTS etc. But all in all he was an awesome player and I liked him alot as a player. Wish him all the best.
He was one of my favourite players. You could tell that he was suffering from depression, but he was just playing in the wrong era. He might have actually got some help if he was a young bloke today. So sad, and so needless. Tomkins was hopeless.
Can you do a video of what happened to Shaun Johnson 😂
Definitely my favourite player growing up as well as Shaun Johnson, but man that Tomkins signing just made the warriors go downhill from there. Hope to see Kevin Locke play here in NZ or Australia
Sam Tompkins was mud. I have never seen another player slip over so much while trying to step.
Nice work putting video together brutha 👌 keep them coming 💯🤙
Keep it up your 10/10 videos always interest me love ur content
THANK YOU!
Great video keep it up
What about Taniela Tuiaki.. last I heard he was a roof tiler and he was one of the best wingers
This was something a bit different, good story, well done @ALPHA!
Wakefield Trinity weren't relegated. Facts matter.
He got drunk he and Tim smith and had a big accident in England look it up
Good show. Show him as a good player but never knew the underlying factor that caused all these. Hope he is back on.
hey can u do a mini documentary on the rise and the fall amd then the rise of the cowboys plz
Amazing vids bro keep em up!
Kia kaha Kevin. Life aint easy
Not sure talking about his personal life to the public like this is respectful to locky, great player
Awesome upload mate. Yeah that Sam Tompkins deal was a shit deal to replace locke.
Can you do, Siuatonga Likiliki next? Loved watching that guy play when the U20’s competition started. He was a devastating ball runner but was overlooked in the first grade and only had a couple appearances from what I remember.
Likiliki is in construction here in Australia working as a chippie. He sits with us steelys at smoko lol
Awesome video. Would love a video about Tim Simona.
Still one of my favourite players,
It'll be nice to see him back in the warriors
Warriors has the worst management
Just look all the players that leave
Wakefield didn't get relegated?
Wasted money on Tomkins who did nothing for the warriors. Typical warriors not developing their players and just using their wallet for leverage
5:17 willpower to go to the line is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
He was back playing for Northcote two years ago. Looking pretty thick but had a good step
When they Bought Sam Tomkins his Number was Up and we’ve been below Average since our last GF IN 2011 except in 2018 when we made Top 8 only to get the boot by the Panthers.
Mean backline then 2018
Enjoyed that mate
Funny thing I found your channel from BeReal 😆
Just one of those guys, I find myself wondering what couldve been
appreciate you💯👌😤☝️
He was Awesome, hopefully he is happy or finding happiness.
FYI - Wakefield weren't relegated. The drink driving incident with Tim Smith happened the week before the relegation decider with Bradford - as a result Brian Smith left them out the team that game and they were released by the club. But Wakefield won the game and stayed up. Shame as Tim Smith seemed to have found a home at Wakey, playing decent rugby. Locke only played a handful of games but showed he still had class.
One of my favorite players in his heyday
Nah we need a where’s Ben Barba
Great video mate
what happend to curtis scott video plz
Great post - thanks :)
Locke was one of the best period. Ā guy like that got better bigger things ahead period.
Going by the thumbnail, I would guess he turned into Jason Taumalolo.
Yep I remember some people saying that Sam was the superLeagues Billy Slater 😭🤣👎 Kevin was on his way being the best fullback in the world.
He’s back here in northcote playing with the myself and the boys
1:14 that's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen 😢😩
Hope the bro is well. Kia kaha e hoa.
Surely Arana Taumata is on your list if you haven’t made a video
Tompkins was quality when he played. Just left before we saw his best
Wakefield have never been relegated from Super League- yet
Crazy I always wondered what happened to him but I never would of guessed he had depression, love you kye x
Would've = would have, not would of.
Might see him at the dolphins 🐬 👀
Exactly why the Warriors don't deserve fan loyalty.
There's a list of players moved on because of the management
Tomkins with his butterfly tattoo got home sick 😆 flew home ow
Very talented this guy
"UNCLE NEEDS DA CASH"
Should have built around him and Shaun 😭
A terrifically talented player that probably just needed a little more sympathetic handling. Great shame.
He got unlocked
Playing club footy for Northcote tigers, in the north shore AKL
A very talented athlete
This kid would have been bigger than Benji
There's been a lot less talented player who had bigger off-field issues that still played long careers.... the warriors fucked him over with the tomkins signing.
Albert Hopoate (John's brother) and the other son's of John.
Ahh good times when the warriors were a good team 😞
Wakefield were never relegated.
Kevin WHO. Never heard of him
Latu the titans Penrith player
Such a talent
Another good player, the Warriors let go
😞 Kevin Locke is the Man
Can you do Arana Taumata? The most talented train wreck it seemed. Went through more clubs than a golfer
He works as a male stripper at gay clubs now
@csyd22 that's too specific to be made up 😂
Kevin Gordon Tim moltzen next
He evolved into Taumalolo
Asked his own mates to borrow money and would pay them back in a week....only to never contact them back steel their money not have any intention to pay them back like a scumbag and then next time they ever heard saw him he was spending someone elses money getting rotten drunk is what I heard first hand......real classy man.
Awesome player. His downfall was inevitable with his disturbing hairstyle though.
Off field habits was why the warriors looked elsewhere
He played well above his weight. He stood out from other warriors teammates because he played at full throttle. Letting Ali lautiti go and replacing locke with Tompkins two biggest mistakes in a long list of dumb mistakes warriors have made. NRL should get rid of warriors or relegate them to play only in reserve grade because that’s best they can play at.
Nrl scouts are signing our youngins at high school and unfortunately warriors are unable to obtain them , I don't blame the young ones for leaving, money talks .
And warriors should not go anywhere , they've proven themselves before plus theres way worse than them you take them out , than you'll be playing with yourselves (like AFL) 😂
Yer very skillfull. Hope hes goin well.
What's happened to the lockeness monster
Jason Taumalolo ate him 🤤
Played for pt chev pirates not long ago lol big fall from fame
That's why Drinks no good - Weed and Pizza is safer
Always said, Kevin was the kiwi version of the goat Matty Bowen
Too much party time, that what happened
Well I know he was faster than a skyline after having a tutu with the cousin girlfriend in New Plymouth New Zealand true story lol
Ben Barber is another.
