- Kevin Locke was an Auckland born player who played for the New Zealand Warriors for six seasons (2009-14). His preferred position was Fullback but could also slot onto the wing.
Locke lit up the National Rugby League with his acceleration and his fancy footwork. He scored 26 tries across 88 games.
He played an integral part in the Warriors 2011 run to the Grand Final in what was Locke's breakout season. Locke also received rep honours by representing the New Zealand Kiwis on 8 occasions including a World Cup Final in 2013 at Old Trafford.
Sam Tomkins' arrival to the club in 2014 left Locke in the dark and eventually moved over to the Super League to sign with the Salford Red Devils mid 2014.

Imagine if the warriors built around him and Johnson the way any other quality club would’ve. They could’ve been one of the best 1 & 7 combos of our generation.

@@Sam-kk3gu idk about that sure Kevin Locke had his issues off the field but tbh the Warriors weren't the same since they lost their forward pack. Warriors has always had a decent-above average backline just need some good front rowers and props

In my opinion Kevin Locke was one the best players to ever play NRL. He was part of the warriors side that could destroy thier opponents when they were firing.

It’s a shame coaching staff shafted him for Sam Tomkins who was hopeless would have loved to see him at 6 when Maloney left Locke and Shaun 6 and 7 would have been deadly with rts at fullback

Yup they always make excuses when a player thats meant to be the fastest gets run down. They say "oh its cause he was tired" blah blah blah lol

Looking back getting rid of Cleary was the Warriors worse decision and never allowed guys like Locke and Johnson to have any sort of coaching stability. The complete culture change that Bluey McLennan brought with him to a team who made the previous grand final to one that allowed complacency ruined everything for players like Locke who went from a kid focused on his League to one known for making an idiot of himself on weekends
Warriors made one of their worse decisions by dropping him for Sam Tomkins. As the results proved.

I last seen him playing club league in Auckland apparently he's not taking league serious anymore , he works full time and plays for northcote tigers a amateur team in the Auckland league , such a shame as he's only 31 he would be still in his prime right now if he was taking it seriously
