As a kid in 2012, playing rugby at the local community grounds, no body cared to be anyone else. Everyone wanted to play Fullback as Ben Barber. I mean the closest in my memory to a standout season was Jarryd Hayne in 2009, but Barber's season was imo the most prime any player has ever been.
As a child I knew he was good but far out I didn’t understand how genuinely unstoppable he was during 2012 and his sheer brilliance with the footy… Such a shame how his career would eventually turn out

YES - this is what Barba did to all the Bulldogs supporters when he touched the ball! Yes he was quick. Yes he was elusive but what a lot of people did not realise was he was very strong for his size!
The Bulldogs in their best years were unstoppable. They completely dominated from 2004-2015, from El Masri, a young JT, SBW, Big Willie, O’Meley, Asotasi, to Idris to Ben Barba to Graham.

I’m a bulldogs fan. It’s a shame he couldn’t keep it together off the field. We wouldn’t have made grand final in 2012 without him. I wish we had more like him, but they don’t come around often. But a wasted talent, he would still be playing if he kept his nose clean.
