Holy crap!!! You make it look easy! I've been fighting it for the past hour. I'm going to go back and do exactly what you just did with the exact tools (flux pen and wide solder tip) after I clean everything before I start over again. Wish me luck. 🤞🏽
Thanks for showing this method repeatedly. I'll be attempting to fix a broken USB-C port on my Keychron K6 very soon, and your video has given me the confidence I need to carry on with the repair.
@@user-ub7jb1vu3g Success, used a hot air rework station to remove the broken port and this drag soldering technique to place the new port in less than 10 minutes. The really tricky part is making sure that there are no solder bridges, but aside from that it was actually pretty straightforward.
Damn I didnt know this could be done with just a soldering iron - fascinating how the pcb repels the solder. Embarassed that i sent my pcb off to have the port reattached - luckily the keyboard supplier didn't charge me any money for the repair.
surprised that the flux pen is doing enough. all the other videos i've been watching really goop on the flux and i didn't want that type of mess. might pick up a flux pen instead. what brand are you using in this vid?
Based on the blue cap and a quick Amazon search for "flux pen", it might be Kester brand. I'm sure No Clean and Chipquik are both fine brands for this also.
Omg i had to do this too port just fly off. I just add solder everywhere around XD it is solid but haven't tried testing because I did this befire going to sleep lol. Tommorow will know the truth Btw so you simply as title suggest need jusy to drag soldering iron and they attach right?
@@offtheclack1629 can you just make them touch without flux? Just touching and securing around. I have some hard flux though. Can i just add it near it and move around? Btw the main idea here is apply hot flux to gently connect?

@@Ryvaeus where did you buy the replacements USB c port ?
@@bunki7871 I contacted Keychron customer support and they shipped me the replacement ports
@@Ryvaeus Ah i see, so if I broke the usb c port on the pcb of my keyboard, where does you think I could find one?
You should have 82 million subscribers. You are a soldering machine!
Make sure you buy the right kind of USB-C port! They come in two very different varieties! "Broken", and "Soon to be broken"
Slide to the right, slide to the right, Now flux now flux
What temperature are you using?
Where can I buy that usb from port thing mine just broke
I will try this in the weekend, my USB port fell from my keyboard pcb. One question, once soldred how long should I wait to connect the usb cable?
Quick, efficient and simple 👌

How do you remove the solder off a broken off usb c port? Theres left over solder in the pin/leg holes
Do you know how, since it's been 3 months?
You use a solder wick.
I use my desoldering gun...
Adding fresh solder before trying to remove it will make it easier (whether using wick or a gun).

Do I need to use flux even if my solder wire contains flux?
Most solder contains flux. Extra flux tends to make things easier.
where do I get this 😢😭?
can you do it without using flux and doing those first pins? like can you just solder the pins on the other side
The flux is definitely needed
Great sir
that's a big one what about the little one
Can u fix this without soldering it
I don't think so
No
Can all of those little pins be soldered together?
You can if you want your board to not work

@@Donbros no, you need to apply flux
