I first struggled to understand Kim's mum's worry about signing the document. I then realised that the cultural demands and rules from an earlier generation would make the signing a real challenge. Bravo, mum! Presenting that document in the pretty sure knowledge that your registration would be rejected is a brave move and makes a stand for equal rights for same sex couples. Really pleased to hear that although rejection is likely, the document stays on record. From what you say, this means when the laws are updated and equal rights are given, the date on the submitted paperwork becomes that date of your marriage registration. Excellent! I am so happy for both of you. I think Kim's Mom is a very kind and Brave Woman. Considering the society and cultural norms she grew up with it makes very hard for her to understand and accept same sex couples. Thankfully your sister has been there to help her. It is nice to know that Mom considers Pack aa her son. It is important to have a good relationship with your in-laws. It is a shame that a 1/4 of the way through the 21st century and there are still countries that won't allow same sex couples to marry. I think your videos let people see that you are no different than heterosexual couples. You both have the same worries and concerns as every other couple. No meu país o Brasil o casamento é legalizado há anos, inclusive legalizamos antes dos Estados Unidos da América, aqui também é legalizado qualquer tipo de família, com apoio igual da Lei, pai solo, mãe divorciada, famílias poligamas, só casamento entre parentes que contínua não tendo registro, mas aí é passar do limite. Mas os Gays no Brasil eles enfrentam o problema de barriga de aluguel ser ilegal porque os médicos classificaram a prática como venda de órgãos, aí dar cadeia e muitos anos de cadeia, então quem não pode gerar precisa ir ao exterior, geralmente a Colômbia, quem tem grana vai ao Estados Unidos ou Ucrânia porque aí os papéis são fáceis, antigamente era na Tailândia ou Índia. Mas no meu país é tranquilo, só os velhos dos cultos que são insuportáveis, mas eu acho que são em qualquer lugar do mundo. Os gospels são um pé no saco, só servem para atrasar o país. Mas no meu país é legalizado, há muitos estrangeiros que falam sobre isto. Inclusive os LGBTQIAPN+ no Brasil conseguiram ter filhos biológicos através da inseminação artificial e doação de material genético de parentes, é horrível que no seu país ainda vida no século passado. This is such an important step for equality. I'm proud of you guys for having the courage to go about this in such a thoughtful manner. I'm glad Kim's mom could communicate her concerns and that noona was there to help her understand. I think seeing that interaction can help other families as well. Although it was hard to see Mother’s hesitation, I appreciated listening to her conflict, because this was complete honesty. There is a difference in saying I support you but to put your name to an official document is something else. And the conflict with supporting Kim knowing her husband doesn’t agree. As a Christian I’m also conflicted. One of my best friend is a lesbian and they have considered marriage. Would I be a bridesmaid or even a witness if asked? I don’t know. I don’t have any issues with her being a lesbian as her partner makes her happy and I’m not here to judge but like Kim’s Mum singing takes a little more thought.
I have always get along with LBQT and BDSM community but when is about marriage I was a bit stucked with the topic. Years ago I thought and talked with a friend that if my son wants to marry a future male partner I wouldn't go due to religious reasons. Then, I was thinking over the situation and I realized that what christians perform is sacraed marriage which is different than civil marriage; and what I believe others don't have to believe and I can't push my son to think like me. Also, I remembered what was taught to us about treating others like we would like to be treated, so putting myself in his shoes, I wouldnt like to be alone in that important moment in human life. So, I decided that if someday he wants to marry I'll share that special event because it is important for him and we family are together in good and bad. I really feel sorry for the same sex couples and all the strugling they have to experience because they can't be married legally.
I am proud of you. I do worry about the ramifications this may cause you both, as you are putting your faces out there, for your safety. But only for your safety. I am impressed by Mango Couple advocating and taking action for your civil rights. Not an easy conversation for Kim's mom; I'm glad she communicated her concerns. Kim's sister 🫡👏🏾 I hope marriage and gender equality laws are passed in Korea soon. It was sad to hear about the man who lost his home and ultimately his life when his spouse died due to that person's family. Loss of assets and access to each other due to illness or death is a huge risk when there are no legal protections. In the U.S., prior to the legalization of same-sex marriage, some couples did "adult adoption" to create a legal family relationship so either partner could be a medical guardian, beneficiary, or heir. However, in some states, the "child" would have to get their biological parents to give up parental rights.

Your mom and sister left me in tears. I think it’s important to show that your love for each other is real. You could have mentioned to your mother the progression of same sex marriages now being legal in Taiwan and may soon, very possibly, become legal in Japan as well. And that it’s important to start fighting for these rights for the reasons you told your mother about if one was to suddenly die and how things like living arrangements can be uprooted because of the system. All gay couples living together should turn in marriage registration forms in huge numbers as a sign of protest. This would shake up those people who make laws to see that you are not given rights you should have. Everyone of you go into the military and ready to defend your country as required by your Constitution and Laws. Each one of you make critical contributions to your country’s society to help maintain peace and order amongst the citizens. Each one of you contribute to your country’s economic development and growth as best as you possibly can. So having the right to be listed as a married couple so that one is protected in the case one dies should be a right each citizen, not only straight citizens, must be entitled to have. Having said that, this video has brought me to realize something very important. The two of you should explore options of how one is protected in the event one suddenly dies. This is real-world stuff that does have consequences if only one of you are left alone. Explore having a legal Will drawn up that can be enforced. A landlord could make one move since that name is not on the lease. But at least your life partner is not left penniless with no money and means to move if forced to do so. How about even a separate bank account you both contribute to with both your names on the account. Giving either one of you access to account. Start by adding small amounts of money each month every month and allowing it to grow your wealth. You both should agree to add an equal amount each additional month your joint bank account. Assuming banks in Korea allows this. Any two names can be on one account here in the US without legal intervention. And giving both individuals access to the account at any time. This relies on real trust between two individuals, which for you two is never a question. It is just a thought. But give it serious thought.
I can only hope that governments around the world implement laws that afford ALL couples the same rights. You should have the same security as other couples. Congratulations on your 10-year anniversary. Wishing you a lifetime together of health, wealth, love, and happiness.

I am so happy for both of you. I think Kim's Mom is a very kind and Brave Woman. Considering the society and cultural norms she grew up with it makes very hard for her to understand and accept same sex couples. Thankfully your sister has been there to help her. It is nice to know that Mom considers Pack aa her son. It is important to have a good relationship with your in-laws. It is a shame that a 1/4 of the way through the 21st century and there are still countries that won't allow same sex couples to marry. I think your videos let people see that you are no different than heterosexual couples. You both have the same worries and concerns as every other couple. In your hearts and minds you are already married. Pack in every marriage there is almost always one person that has to apologize first.😅
I am thrilled that your anniversary is 24 May. Mine is 21 May. Before the 2 of you realize it, you will be celebrating your 25th Anniversary and even longer. I pray that Korea follows other countries and gives the LGBTQ community the same rights as everyone else!

I work and hope the U.S. will come to its senses again …. Bom, segundo o que o governo Sul-Coreano declarou ao Brasil, o casamento Homoafetivos não seria legalizado porque não havia apoio social o suficiente, 52% eram contra. No meu país o Brasil o casamento é legalizado há anos, inclusive legalizamos antes dos Estados Unidos da América, aqui também é legalizado qualquer tipo de família, com apoio igual da Lei, pai solo, mãe divorciada, famílias poligamas, só casamento entre parentes que contínua não tendo registro, mas aí é passar do limite. Mas os Gays no Brasil eles enfrentam o problema de barriga de aluguel ser ilegal porque os médicos classificaram a prática como venda de órgãos, aí dar cadeia e muitos anos de cadeia, então quem não pode gerar precisa ir ao exterior, geralmente a Colômbia, quem tem grana vai ao Estados Unidos ou Ucrânia porque aí os papéis são fáceis, antigamente era na Tailândia ou Índia. Mas no meu país é tranquilo, só os velhos dos cultos que são insuportáveis, mas eu acho que são em qualquer lugar do mundo. Os gospels são um pé no saco, só servem para atrasar o país. Mas no meu país é legalizado, há muitos estrangeiros que falam sobre isto. Inclusive os LGBTQIAPN+ no Brasil conseguiram ter filhos biológicos através da inseminação artificial e doação de material genético de parentes, é horrível que no seu país ainda vida no século passado.
Você pode perder o emprego se assumir, enquanto no Brasil tem uma Lei que proíbe qualquer bullying a família não tradicionais e assegura os direitos civis da comunidade. Mas se for contar, conte a sua família e amigos, você provavelmente não vai perder o emprego por isto, e a sua família e amigos se te amarem irão te aceitar, só dê um tempo para eles sugerirem que o mundo não é como eles querem. De qualquer forma, se eles fazerem um Inferno na sua vida, lembre: existem países aonde é legalizado casamento LGBTQIAPN+ e famílias homoafetivas, você pode passar um tempo e depois voltar com os documentos da sua família, mostrando a sociedade que eles não são seu dono.

This is such an important step for equality. I'm proud of you guys for having the courage to go about this in such a thoughtful manner. I'm glad Kim's mom could communicate her concerns and that noona was there to help her understand. I think seeing that interaction can help other families as well. Although it was hard to see Mother’s hesitation, I appreciated listening to her conflict, because this was complete honesty. There is a difference in saying I support you but to put your name to an official document is something else. And the conflict with supporting Kim knowing her husband doesn’t agree. As a Christian I’m also conflicted. One of my best friend is a lesbian and they have considered marriage. Would I be a bridesmaid or even a witness if asked? I don’t know. I don’t have any issues with her being a lesbian as her partner makes her happy and I’m not here to judge but like Kim’s Mum singing takes a little more thought.
I have always get along with LBQT and BDSM community but when is about marriage I was a bit stucked with the topic. Years ago I thought and talked with a friend that if my son wants to marry a future male partner I wouldn't go due to religious reasons. Then, I was thinking over the situation and I realized that what christians perform is sacraed marriage which is different than civil marriage; and what I believe others don't have to believe and I can't push my son to think like me. Also, I remembered what was taught to us about treating others like we would like to be treated, so putting myself in his shoes, I wouldnt like to be alone in that important moment in human life. So, I decided that if someday he wants to marry I'll share that special event because it is important for him and we family are together in good and bad. I really feel sorry for the same sex couples and all the strugling they have to experience because they can't be married legally.
I could never forget my marriage to my husband; it meant so much to us as a gay couple. We treasure that day.

It was sad to hear about the man who lost his home and ultimately his life when his spouse died due to that person's family. Loss of assets and access to each other due to illness or death is a huge risk when there are no legal protections.
In the U.S., prior to the legalization of same-sex marriage, some couples did "adult adoption" to create a legal family relationship so either partner could be a medical guardian, beneficiary, or heir. However, in some states, the "child" would have to get their biological parents to give up parental rights.

Your mom and sister left me in tears. I think it’s important to show that your love for each other is real. You could have mentioned to your mother the progression of same sex marriages now being legal in Taiwan and may soon, very possibly, become legal in Japan as well. And that it’s important to start fighting for these rights for the reasons you told your mother about if one was to suddenly die and how things like living arrangements can be uprooted because of the system.
All gay couples living together should turn in marriage registration forms in huge numbers as a sign of protest. This would shake up those people who make laws to see that you are not given rights you should have.
Everyone of you go into the military and ready to defend your country as required by your Constitution and Laws. Each one of you make critical contributions to your country’s society to help maintain peace and order amongst the citizens. Each one of you contribute to your country’s economic development and growth as best as you possibly can.
So having the right to be listed as a married couple so that one is protected in the case one dies should be a right each citizen, not only straight citizens, must be entitled to have.
Having said that, this video has brought me to realize something very important. The two of you should explore options of how one is protected in the event one suddenly dies. This is real-world stuff that does have consequences if only one of you are left alone.
Explore having a legal Will drawn up that can be enforced. A landlord could make one move since that name is not on the lease. But at least your life partner is not left penniless with no money and means to move if forced to do so. How about even a separate bank account you both contribute to with both your names on the account. Giving either one of you access to account. Start by adding small amounts of money each month every month and allowing it to grow your wealth. You both should agree to add an equal amount each additional month your joint bank account. Assuming banks in Korea allows this. Any two names can be on one account here in the US without legal intervention. And giving both individuals access to the account at any time. This relies on real trust between two individuals, which for you two is never a question.
It is just a thought. But give it serious thought.
