It really got me when you asked what to do to get it approved and the woman that was helping you said “you need to change the law”. It wasn’t too long ago when no countries recognized same sex marriage and now over 38 countries recognize same sex marriages! I fully believe you won’t have to wait too much longer for the government to accept your relationship as legitimate. The work you are doing here on RUclips is helping so many people.

As a foreigner and gay man living in Korea, I also have your same feeling about wanting to marry whilst living here and be legally recognised as well. It it possible for me to get married in my embassy but then it is only recognised by my country and not here in Korea. I hope Korea and the rest of the world catches up eventually to allowing same-sex marriage and its legal recognition around the world. love to you both congrats for 10 years

Kim offered a note of optimism where some companies are respecting the receipt as though they are a couple. 10 years together is almost unbelievable! Congratulations, and yes, let the tears flow!

Such love. I feel s honored that you two have chosen to share this experience with your RUclips family. You are such precious people. Being able to get married legally has its own challenges. I was blessed to witness my friends, Kevin and Karl get married a few years ago. Kevin was a retired US Air Force officer. A couple of years ago Kevin passed away and Karl is a widower. Kevin had to designate Karl as his beneficiary for the annuity from the military but life went on and he forgot. Now Karl is fighting to receive survivor benefits. Remember to have everything that your country allows, signed and filed in whatever procedure South Korea requires. You deserve all of the love and support in this world. I bow to you both.

Congratulations, you boys are the best. This is a new beginning but, I must say the silent to quiet conversation in the car is so normal on an especially significant day, straight or rainbow. We all do it to some degree. Nervous tension from 8.25am to the 'non acceptance' then the tears. You have done it as far as you can legally so Happy Anniversary to you both.

옛날엔 남녀라도 동성동본이면 결혼 할 수 없었는데 법이 바꼈고, 자녀들이 아빠 성만 따랐는데 요즘은 엄마 성으로도 할 수 있잖아요. 두분 너무 축하드려요. 한치 앞을 모르는 세상 더 많이 사랑하시고, 더많이 아껴 주시고 오래오래 행복하세요.

현행 민법에는 그 어디에도 동성 간 혼인을 금한다는 구절이 없습니다. 다만 그럼에도 동성 간의 혼인을 인정할 수 없다는 태도인거죠. 세상은 느리지만 바뀌고 있습니다. 멀지 않은 시일에 동성 간의 혼인이 법의 테두리에서 인정받을 수 있는 날이 오리라고 확신합니다.

I am a 57 year old Caucasian straight woman in the US, but I cannot wait for the day when ALL people who love each other, no matter what gender, identity, or arrangement, or country, can get legally married in any country and be recognized in any country. I wanted to wait with my commentary until I've seen the second part. I have now done so and can now comment. First and most importantly, congratulations. Even if your marriage can't be officially registered because the law doesn't allow it, I am so proud of you and happy for you. You are two amazing and wonderful people who love each other with heart and soul. I love your couple videos so much because you are an authentic couple who occasionally give an insight into your everyday life. No acting and pretending. Just two men who have been a couple for 10 years now and still love each other very much, even if there are arguments now and then. I hope you grow old together and continue to love each other so sincerely.
Here in Germany, same-sex couples have been allowed to marry legally for a few years now. I was so happy for the LGBTQ+ community that it even brought tears to my eyes. I wish for you and all the same-sex couples in Korea and all over the world that the law will finally change in your favor. After all, same-sex couples are nothing more than two people who love each other so much that they want to get married. No one should be forbidden to do so. Because love is love! It was about 50 years ago that my country ended its ban of interracial marriages- which I am in. So I support and pray that all couples gain protection and respect under the laws.

I loved this so much, but also understand your mixed feelings. It takes real courage to walk into a situation where you know you will be rejected, and hold your heads up high. And for what it’s worth, you are married, in all the most important ways. I wish that Korea will recognize your relationship soon, at least in the form of some kind of civil partnership. And in the meantime, maybe you could plan a trip to a country with gay marriage and get something official done, so your relationship will be recognized in many countries, even if not in the one you value most. As a Finnish person it is almost painfull to watch cause my thought is: "Why is it so difficult there, when it is not even a thing here anymore.." No-one cares whom you marry as long as it is voluntary between two people who want to do it. At the same time your love for each other is what matters the most. Not everyone finds such love during their whole life time. So no matter what rest of the society thinks of it, what you have got together is precious and special!! ❤

미국에서 20년넘게 살고있는 한국아줌마예요. 제가 현재 살고 있는 시애틀은 동성결혼합법화가 된지 12년정도가 됬어요. 미국도 동성애자들의 길고 치열한 사투끝에 동성결혼이 합법화됬고 지금은 이성애자도 동성애자도 양성애자도 무성애자도 범성애자도 그냥 다 법적인 혜택을 똑같이 받으며 개개인의 주관적인 생각이나 믿음과 별개로 법적인 제도의 혜택인에 서로 다같이 조화롭게 살고 있어요. 동성부부의 입양도 가능하고요. 그냥 다양한 형태의 부부와 가족형태가 더불어 다같이 살아가요. 제 오랜 직장의 상사도 게이였고 제 남편의 가장 친한 직장 동료도 스무살 차이나는 게이였고. 제 남편은 그 게이동료를 아들처럼 친구처럼 대해줬어요. 한국은 아직도 많이 보수적이고 사실 한국은 보수적이라가보단 나와 다른거를 포용하지 못하는 사회라는게 더 맞는 분석일겁니다. 나와 다른 성정체성뿐 아니라 나와 다른 생각, 나와 다른 정치관, 나와 다른 가치관 기타등등 나와 다른 무언가를 포용하고 관용하는 사회가 아니죠. 너무 오랜동안 좁은 땅에서 같은 민족끼리만 살아와서 다양한 인종 종교 가치관을 가진 아민자들이 모여살기 시작한 미국과는 사고방식자체가 다를수밖에 없구요
보수적인건 미국도 꽤나보수적인 사람들이.많이 사는 나라인데 미국과 한국의 차아점이라면 나와 다른것에 대한 관용과 포용성에 대한 교육의 부재일겁니다. 미국도 종교관때문에 동성애를 싫어하는 사람들 꽤 많습니다. 다만 그런 미국인들조차 기본적인 생각은 동성애자들도 이성애자들이 누리는 행복을 추구할 권리 (결혼이나 입양 기타등등)는 보호받아야 맞는거다란 평등의식을 가지고 있다는게 한국과 다른거죠. 한국은 성정체성뿐 아니라 정치 사회 가치관 생각등 거의 모든 분야에서 주류에 속하지 않으면 짓밟아 없애거나 주류에 맞게 만들어야한다는 사고가 팽배한 사회구요. 다름과 다양성을 포용하지 못하는 사회죠.
저랑 남편은 너무 쉽게 몇분만에 끝낸 혼인신고를 님들이 수락받지 못한다는 느낌이 어떤건지 전 다 이해하진 못하겠지만 제가 그 입장이라도 참 서러울거 같아요. 10년이나 같이 산 사실혼 관계의 두 사람이 부부가 아니면 뭘까? 이런 부부가 왜 법적으로 보호받지 못하나? 하는 많은 생각이 듭니다. 결론만 말씀드리자면, 미국의 동성애자들처럼 한국의 동성애자분들이 피튀기는 사투를 벌여 원하는 결과를 이끌어내는 방법밖엔 없다고 말씀드릴수밖에 없네요. 이성애자들은 성정체성문제에 있어선 사회 기득권자들이고 역사상 기득권자들은 절대 피기득권자들을 대신해서 먼저 나서서 싸워주진 않기때문입니다. 한때 투표권도 없었던 여성들이 피튀기게 싸워서 여권신장도 해결해야했듯이 피기득권자는 본인들이 원하는게 있으면 기득권자들에 맞서 싸우고 투쟁해서 원하는걸 쟁취하는거밖엔 방법이 없어요. 역사상 늘 그래왔어요. 인생은 결국 그 누구도 내 대신 내 이익을 위해 싸워주지 않으니까요.
제가 할수 있는건 모든 동성애자분들에게 응원과 지지를 보내는것뿐입니다..전 그 누구도 사적인 공간에서 누가 누구와 어떻게 사랑을 나누건 비난할수도 판단할수도 없다고 생각합니다. 사람이 누군가를 사랑한다는게 누구에게도 비난 받을 일은 아니라고 생각합니다. 인생 생각보다 많이 짧아요. 그 짧은 시간에 부디 두분이 많이 사랑하고 아끼며 이성애자들 보다 더 행복하고 즐겁게 사세요. 그리고 시간이 좀 더 지나면 한국도 동성결혼 합법화가 되는 날이 꼭 올거라고 믿습니다.
정성껏 써주신 긴 글일 읽는데 마지막에는 눈물이 그렁그렁 맺히네요ㅎㅎ 사실 전 지금도 너무 행복하고 모든 것들이 다 잘될거라 믿으며 살고있답니다ㅎㅎ
동성애 이성애를 떠나서 사랑하는 가족들과 사랑하는 배우자와 행복하게 사는 사는것만한 복이 없다고 생각합니다~ㅎㅎ

Im in the USA but, I cried through this whole video. Im a straight woman been married for 21 years almost 22 years but, I have 3 kids that are queer. I can't immagine a world where they couldnt marry who they wanted legally. I hope and wish so much for you guys one day very soon you can have a big PROUD GAY FABULOUS WEDDING in front of your closest friends and family and whoever supports your relationship. All I know is I love you guys and I am so sorry you have to go through all of this to have and be with who you want.
