    Thanks Steve for you taking the time to share your knowledge, been running in Bikila Evos for about 2 months now (after your reviews) and can't believe how good they are compared to other 'Minimal' shoes. It is hard to run in any other shoe now as you can feel them interfering with my natural running gait. My son is 12 years old and been running in KSO Evos and Bikilas for about 4 months and I am struggling to stay with him the little shit!!

    • @kalclashfitness

      That's it man, you're totally free to run as your body is built to run in Vibrams. Your son is at an advantage as he hasn't had years of running in incorrect footwear. You'll beat him soon (for a year or two)

    Wow can't believe how fast you were running in them VFFs also how wide your stride was. Virbrams have shorten my stride tremendously and has changed my style of running and also changed my posture. I don't think I can sprint in them like you can with that lovely long stride. I would certainly love to. Nice to see you outside the shed for a change.

      Dick Tracey It's just one of those things that I've adapted too over time I suppose. I train to run fast so that kinda comes out in my technique too. Maybe I will do a video of running in Vibrams at a slower pace...

    Great job on the video! I bought Xero HFS minimalist shoes and have been working them into my running. It's a gradual transition. Initially, I was kind of slapping my feet on the ground. Not heel striking, but still not great as there was no spring in my step. But I'm finally starting to get the hang of the right form. No issues at this point. Feet feel great and I'm really enjoying it. Thanks again!

    Because I've always felt knee pain when running, I've started working on my barefoot technique and your videos have helped me a lot! Even though I don't feel any knee pain anymore, I'm finding it a bit difficult to keep the speed I used to run and it is impossible for me to keep going for more than 20 minutes, although I used to run about one hour when not using the technique. Is it normal to have this kind of difficulty in the transition and feel the calves, the hamstrings and the tibialis really sore? Thanks for the help, Steve!

    • @nsrocker99
      @nsrocker99 2 года назад

      Do you have an update on this? I'm curious as well, just transition to the new technique and I've gone very slow with it so I don't injure myself. Wondering if eventually you got that strength of normal running.

      @@nsrocker99 Barefoot running is normal running :)

    Hey, great vid! So, i´m running forefoot about three months now, my question is, how do i know for sure i´m not toe striking?, i mean, i guess i´m midfoot striking because i strike the floor with my forefoot and slightly my heel ends touching it down, but i saw some videos where you cannot tell the difference so much and another question is when forefoot/midfoot striking is there no impact at all or there is less impact than heel striking?

  • @punk4rockorz
    @punk4rockorz 5 месяцев назад

    Wow, thats a pretty fast pace and very different technique from mine. I try to increase my cadence and work more with my upperbody when increasing my speed to lessen the stress on my feet a bit. But when I ma better trained and run this fast this looks like a good technique. Would this work for a bit longer distances too?

    Why do you think it's more beneficial to run in barefoot shoes rather than running forefoot/midfoot striking but in cushioned trainers? I have done barefoot running so have a solid barefoot running style but run in shoes with a lot of cushion because my legs can't take the pounding when my mileage gets up to higher levels. I don't see any problem with that but you seem to...

    Also noticed that you only had slight movement in your arms however i notice a lot of professional runners move their arms on unison with their legs. Maybe its just a comfort thing but do you this is would affect your running in any way?

    • @kalclashfitness
      @kalclashfitness  9 лет назад +1

      Derek Nixon Very good point my man. I noticed this too after watching the video back, I've become very lazy with my arm movements. If I'm running a fast run or competing in an event my arm cadence will match my legs and will drive me forward with purpose. In this video I was being lazy, holding them too low and also allowing them to come too far back. Maybe I'll do a video focusing on arm movement in the future...

    I'm having shin splints and trying to run barefoot for now to fix them (before buying Vibram shoes). I don't know how to run exactly but I heard you're supposed to be landing with your feet under your hips. In this video I think you're over-striding and I heard it causes shin splints. Can you provide your thoughts please?

    • @kalclashfitness
      @kalclashfitness  9 лет назад +3

      The Botan Hey man, you definitely shouldn't be over striding. If you watch my technique my legs drive forward, and come quite some way in front of my hips, but upon impact my feet are under my hips or very close to it.
      Also my foot may land slightly in front of my hips, it is slight, but by the time any weight is applied to my legs it is already fully under my centre of mass and the force is being pushed backwards, which in turn is propelling me forward.
      I hope this helps.

    • @edwardwelsch5893
      @edwardwelsch5893 7 лет назад +1

      I agree, this video looks to me like an example of bad barefoot running technique: overstriding. His knees shouldn't be popping up on the upstroke, they should barely be reaching in front of the hips. The entire chain of movement should be behind the hips. Overstriding puts too much stress on the calves and ankles, making strain more likely. This is my understanding and personal experience, anyway.

      Nah anyone that's been running in Vibram's for a while will have the same legs. It's just unusual to see people with muscles developed in their lower legs as heel striking leads to lower leg hypertrophy...

    Seems like you're overstriding terribly, elbows out too far as well.

    Have you ever experienced top of foot pain?

      I doubt he does because I do not. Fit is critically important as with proper form. I've run over 500 miles since April 2015 with VFF shoes. Zero knee and hip pain and I am in my late 40's. Follow Vibrams recommended training to get your feet and muscles accustomed to running correctly.

      I have that right now with the vibrams. It's the first time it's happened and I've been using them for a while. Have been reading online that it may be from the lace being too tight or bad running technique. If anyone has any advice that would be appreciated

      @ Klara, with any shoe, laces too tightly pulled with any shoe will restrict movement. It's not allowing your foot to move free enough possibly causing too much pressure to the top of the foot. Loosen up a tad bit. Always check your form making sure you center the weight in your strides. If your foot is too far forward you may also be placing undo stress to the front of your foot.

    The form is terrible!! He's landing close to a foot ahead of his center of gravity. That's why his calves are so huge, to compensate for all the additional shock produced by overstriding. He saved maybe 100g off the shoes, but added a good kg on his calves lol!

    Good run but: Knees too much hight, too long stride, low cadence, too straight with the torso, arms going everywhere. If you run a marathon like this much energy required.

      when I use vibram I can't overstride. because the impact through the shin is too shocking. I think when someone overstride with vibram they probably instantly know they're doing something wrong.

    If you want bone on bone arthritis of the knees then bare foot running shoes is thing for you; you'll love it and you can just be like me where you can hardly walk from the car to the supermarket and when you get there you have to lean on the trolley to get around. Zero drop shoes yes but make sure they have plenty of cushioning.
