Idk man. I run between 8 and 10 a day in plated running shoes. They are slowly causing my ankles to turn in on themselves but I’ve pushed so far into the discomfort that it actually kind of worked itself out. Heal striking w support when angled just right gives you way more energy for distance. I could be wrong, it has been known to happen.
I've read somewhere that heel striking actually slows you down since you brake everytime you land, I could be wrong but maybe worth doing some research!

Yeah probably cause it hurts like a motherfuckers to run barefoot. People run confidently on spikey terrain with shoes is probably why the force is increased.
I can see why you say that, however a healthy human should be able to run long distances without much pain. It doesn’t ruin your knees if you use proper form which is why people go barefoot or near barefoot/zero drop. You use different muscles to run and automatically it fixes your form and these muscles are rarely used. People get bad knees because they ran too long with bad form and bad cushiony shoes with arch support and extra heel cushion. People should be able to enjoy the god given beautiful gift of running.
